Love having the video with them stretched out to show how the effects work on the strand at length so you get a good idea of how to best string them on the tree!
A 6' tree will need the 130ft 500 light strand. We just got a 6.5' tree and the 500 lights is wonderful on it. I'm confident the 250 light strand wouldn't have worked.... One pro/con with these is that you can't just add another strand if you realize you need more. BUT you can stick A LOT of lights on your tree and then change the color/brightness to handle the extra lights. I'll try to get a video up on my tree soon, but it is so spoiling to be able to change the lights on a whim. The kids like the prism effect, I like sparkle, and my husband makes it look like a regular multi-color strand...so we switch it up often.
Definitely! Considering that you can make them any color you want and they have all the standard Philips Hue light effects, they can be used for anything. I think the only trick with them is that they T split in the middle as the line is designed to run halfway up a tree trunk before wrapping the tree. So you'd need to take that into account on how you display them. This video does a better job showing the T that I'm talking about: ua-cam.com/video/wtfAgvbrXJ0/v-deo.html
I show them dimmer in this video: ua-cam.com/video/USZ5WZ2LCOQ/v-deo.html but I realize I don’t have a video where I show them at maximum dimming…mostly because it is extremely dim. We love dim lighting and these lights go too dim for us. I actually made this video because many people wish these would go brighter! Sorry I don’t have a video of them at maximum dimness. I’ll remember to do this when I do a video this holiday season, but they are currently buried in my holiday storage 😅
Go for Twinkly instead of Philips Hue's Festavia. Twinkly are both cheaper, and much better, both in features they offer, and in the brightness of the light.
I just got Twinkly. I've done an intro video - ua-cam.com/video/3wBW5EVC4ms/v-deo.html - and am editing a comparison video now that I'll publish this week. I get why you like them! Especially for the price. I am divided. I see pros and cons with both. But thanks for the recommendation.
@@alderandjade I look forward to what YOU come up with, regarding your comparison test of the 2 light sources. Maybe I'm a bit "colored" because I've used Philips HUE for so many years, and experienced all the frustrations with the small defects the products constantly have, as well as the lack of updating of their software, and thereby look at it a bit negatively.
@@ebeanakskov I just published my comparison video and I was pleasantly surprised that Philips Hue updated their app to give a little more control. I probably spent too much time on that part! For those that want customization, Twinkly wins by a landslide: ua-cam.com/video/5zvY2_j-YsY/v-deo.html

They are definitely a different style at a higher price point. Since we already have Philips Hue outdoor lights, these play real nicely with those. We can also use them for parties, Halloween, and other events with the endless color combos. BUT I too wish they would twinkle and chase with my chosen light combination. I'm hoping we'll get an update with that.

Glad this helps :)
I was hesitate to purchase these due to not being bright enough. U have help me out a lot, what length would I need for a 6’ tree.
Thx again

Do you think these could be used indoors for decorating year round, and not just as Christmas tree lights?
Definitely! Considering that you can make them any color you want and they have all the standard Philips Hue light effects, they can be used for anything.

Is this the 40 m version?
Yes it is!
I am worried about the opposite that they might end up to bright. Would have loved see them at maximum dimming.

You’re the second person that has said this! I feel like I should get Twinkly to do a comparison.

@@alderandjade 👍 Good work. Now it's time to find a Christmas Tree (or two), and set it up on these. It will be the final test.
Is this 500 or 250?
The 500!
I think Twinkly is better and much cheaper
I have no experience with Twinkly, but it does look well loved. Will check it out more. Thanks!

Too expensive, twinkly is better.

you probably pay for what you get. Philips is definitely some of the best quality Christmas lights out there .
@@eco_logic that’s not true.
@@Fievelavie how is in your eyes the quality less than Philips
