A slave's morality
This was so honest. Im currently a Automation Technician, i have a 2 year applied degree. I want to go back to school for mechanical but i dont want the student loan debt. Your video puts things into great perspective. Thank you !
I had more career success with an AAS degree in biomedical tech than going back to college for a BSME. I lost a lot of credit hrs during the transfer process. Back then I thought it would be worth it. Boy was I wrong...lol.
Most software engineers are living in expensive areas like bay area, new York etc. here high salaries are not useful because of high living costs. but mechanical engineering companies are in less expensive places where living costs are low and those salaries are attractive.
THIS IS SO TRUEEE
In the UK they pay so much less for the same roles it is just depressing.
Sorry to hear that mate! I had a coworker from the UK who said the same exact thing
I read M-F something else. Definitely not as Monday to Friday.
We can't promise software engineering labor salary can be this high after years.
Everything are changing
Do what you passionate about
exactly , im choosing mechanichal engineering becuz i alzays dreamed of making things
Agreed, I feel like software engineers are more exposed to the effects of AI, things will likely be different very soon. Even if they are the ones designing AI, I bet there will be a lot more replaced by it vs being able to create AI
We never know bro.@@b79747
@@b79747 AI actually could replace mechanical engineering easier then software. Software is expected to grow 25% on the next 10 years. I think mechanichal engineering is around 8%.
Hey man......this was a fun content to watch to haha
Starting 120$ per month in india.😅
haircut looking badass bro
dahmn, "beats me, you are the boss here"😂😂
What does google need with a mechanical engineer
I agree with Siri, putting things into perspective, you’re more well off than ppl with other degree or none at all. Doesn’t excuse inflation, but still! Love your videos!
Fuck, I'm desperate...
Well, there is always Feetfinder.
This is hilarious
Your 401K comment wasn't very bright. You never plan to retire? Unless you plan to work until you die, you should be maxing out your 401K not putting in 7%.
So should i even become a mechanical engineer or is this problem reserved for places with high costs of living like silicon valley.
First off, do what makes you happy! But I think this is reserved for high cost of living areas, and as long as you budget your expenses, you should be alright.
Imo he very well could've found a cheaper place to rent, and a cheaper car to pay off, and that would've given him more money to play with lol
Let's be real, software engineer salaries are likely to decrease significantly in the future as everyone and their mom wants to become a software engineer. Too many people coming out of bootcamps, layoffs, threat of AI etc is not making the long term outlook look good for future software engineers. I think mechanical engineer salaries are likely to stay similar (in line with inflation) in the future and software engineer and mechanical engineer salaries should likely be the same so just choose what you enjoy more I guess.
@@habeebadegbite329man I’m wanting to switch to mechanical engineering. I’m currently majoring in computer science but you’re right. The market is over saturated and is gonna continue to get even more saturated. Not to mention A.I 😭
@@yolo6471You know who makes the AI? Computer scientists, you're overreacting
@@yolo6471More software engineering jobs are being created each year than graduates in comp sci by a long shot. Coming from a Mech E I don’t think you’ll have to worry and comp sci is probably the best undergrad major and all that over saturated talk from people are people who don’t know the job market well enough.
Hi. Bro. I am from india. I just finished my schooling and going to join college. I am interested in taking mechanical engineering. Is that decision is right or wrong.
Same bro
Dont know what to do 🥲
Tomorrow i start my first mechanical engineer job and my salary is 780$/month =]] (in my country) so you are still big boss compared with me
Omg my fiancé works for google and I’m an engineer. This is so accurate 😭😂😂😂 living in the most expensive county in the US doesn’t help. (Loudoun County, VA)
Keep Uploading More Videos!
I am sure you’re really helpful to all engineers those who are all trying to get a job!
I loved the word “orange” company 😂
As someone going to university for a mechanical engineering degree(no change option) i am sad now
You can still go into CS with ME after anyways if the money matters
You can get literally any job title with the word “engineer” in it if u have a MECE degree. You’re good bro, this video is just a joke 😂
Bro with ME you are still making 2x what the average COLLEGE GRAD makes stop complaining
As a mechanic engineering student or a mechanical engineer train, make sure u are skilled in using various tools popular in the industry. You must be adept in using the computer tools used for making engineering drawings, isometric drawings, solid models, simulations.
I started regreting doing mechanical engineering. Even in my third world country, having a "technical degree" (the equivalent to a minor degree) make more money than a +5 year experience MecEng.
This is not the first time i hear mec eng youtuber says "i want to change majors to Software/IT/systems" or "i wish i studied Soft"
Hands on experience working for auto or aerospace industry along with continued education in electrical or mechanical is more satisfying than just pursuing a degree with no industry in sight.
@@user-qj3rv2mo1b you can do the same with software, am researching in the ground of thermal engineering, the Project director choosed me because am mec eng student with Python knowledge.
not, "I wish I studied Soft"😂😂
@@marimoedmond yeah, sorry, english is not my first language
Hello sir,
My doubts are what does the job market for computational engineers look like in the U.S after completing masters in the same for Asian(Iam Indian by the way). Also as a mechanical undergraduate myself, Iam looking to pursue a masters in mechanical engineering, according to you which major in mechanical engineering pays you the most and which has the lowest potential of being replaced in the future by technology? Iam asking this because a lot of people around me are asking to pursue a technical field for masters like data science or analytics of some sort. Your reply will be very valuable to me. Thank you.
studying at uni side by side with software students and yet not having the luxury of work from home and a smaller paycheck than them makes me really envious of software eng. i would never trade mechanical with software but its unfair.
I hear software jobs are hard as hell to get compared to mech
Didn’t get job yet 29 yrs old
is it that hard bro??
Is it possible to work fully remotely as a mechanical engineer?
How are you going to create an engine at home
Maybe, depends what your profession is. Most likely not though
If you go into control engineering, yes.
the solution is to not live in silicon valley lol perhaps Austin TX is a good substitute? idk man
The catch is that the drive to adopt AI is 40% automation of customer service and 60% FANG wanting to lay off every single programmer.
Funny. I've had Amazon, google, and meta ask me for a job interview just this week. Sorry to disappoint you but very few of those layoffs were developers.
No hate but lets not mislead people on how much money they can reasonably make without being one out of 5k applicants. The over promise of how lucrative these fields are is misleading.
In Portugal you are lucky if you can be paid 25 000€/year as a Mechanical Engineer...
What do mechanical engineers do in Portugal?
My guess is engineers do different things depending on the country? When I look up what Portuguese mechanical engineers do the result is different then what do mechanical engineers do?
@@Adventure_fuel The same as in other countries. Mechanical Design / Industrialization / Process engineering / Project Managing etc..
@@vibe7416wtf are you on about the UK and the EU have much much higher costs of living than the highest cost of living areas in the USA.
Getting €1000 for savings is very reasonable! Especially if you're paying another €1000 monthly for student loan
You do know that UPS Drivers make 170K a year?

@@b79747 Staring salary? How about working 20 years and a bunch of engineering jobs and only peaking at 69K?
Is it possible for you to reject your 401K and just tell the company to add it to your salary
not that i know of😂
Companies usually have enrollment periods for stuff that gets deducted out of your pay. Things like health ins., 401k, life ins., and other things. As far as I know, you can opt out of anything that isn't State or Federally mandated as deduction from income. Right now, you'd probably better off taking that 401k deduction and just buying physical gold with it, storing it in something you can touch with your own hands and no middle person can steal away.
Why exactly would you do that? You don't plan to retire?
This video is really funny and useful! I am going to choose software engineer 😎
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I agreed, I saw people starting in mechanical engenering at almost the minimun wage sad 🤦♂
That moment when you realize an 80k salary is 60k after taxes
2:10 lol. That’s not true at all.
LMAOOOOO you think mechanical engineers are rich, poverty mentality, big fish in little pond bro.
Meanwhile civil is crying g

What? How do most engineers put money over morals? Engineering is one of the most important professions which deserve their high pay.
Let's just be honest. Engineers are overpaid.

Yes

You can start saying engineers are overpaid when you stop using the devices and transportation they designed.
Even your fancy chair needed an engineer.
Bruh I'm studying my last year before graduation and this video made me regret studying mechanical engineering all together 💀
Bro is it even worth it to put in all the hard work and for my masters in the US to eventually obtain citizenship anymore?🥲
Whether studying Mechanical Enigneering is worth it really depends on you. I think if you find the material interesting then you will find a job that you love after graduation💪
