I had some 5 years ago and two days ago I decided to grow them again so I took the sand they lived in and put water in it. And they live again. I now made them an aquarium with plants and more in it so they can have for once a life worth living for :)

these little creature's eggs has one of the best hatching strategy in the entire animal kingdom! often times by certain circumstances some eggs decided to not hatch even when water is present and ended up waiting for the next water cycle to arrive. this ensures their entire population to not get wiped out instantly if the first water cycle failed and ended up drying up killing the young triop babies! their eggs can even detect mineral dissolved in the body of water they're in, indicating that the water has been staying for quite some time and potentially drying up which is why the eggs rarely hatch on water containing high mineral. it really feels like the eggs itself are aware of the surrounding yet it require no water at all to survive for years (i heard that some scientists had managed to hatch 70+ years old triop eggs successfully). that's how they survived longer than us humans without having to evolve much!
