Stop dating and start living the life you love . Join classes, volunteer , do life and you will meet great people like yourself. You will make friends and enjoy meeting new people ! You will go out in groups and eventually meet someone you want to be with a lot . Go have fun and don't worry about trying to date.

I was a 50 year old divorced mom of 3 teens when I went onto a chat room in AOL with people that liked poetry. A man started chatting with me and we chatted often. He told me he was a Master Chef and all I could think was, “Oh my would love to come home from work to a nice meal cooked for me”. We finally met for the first time on JULY 9TH when I found out my 50 year old eyes read it wrong and he was a Master Chief in the Navy stationed about an hour from my house. We saw each other a lot and I found he was a 27 year member of the US Navy. Long story short, he proposed on November 1st and we were married on January 2nd. That was 25 years ago this past January. Best decision in my life. He then retired by October and we are still in love. He spoils me all the time. 💖💖

My husband was Navy, Nuclear power. I was on staff as the director of children/youth/college, at the church he actually grew up in. His parents lived in the same home he was born in, and the same church as well. I met and knew my (future) in-laws for 2yrs before I met him. He came home on a 1mo leave, and I initially met then. About 2mo later, he was finished with his time in the Navy. I, being a staff member, invited him to the adult singles group in the church. He also started volunteered to chaperone the children and youth groups, that I was also in charge of. We actually got to know each other when he was the only one who volunteered to chaperone a middle school lock-in at the church, ALL NIGHT with middle school kids! All the kids fell asleep😂 But He and I stayed awake the whole time, talking, getting to know each other. After that, when we each got off work, he would come over, I would cook a meal (he loves my cooking!), we would have the tv on, but have no idea what was on, because we talked until 1-2am!
Our time frame was: we met May 89, he finished Navy June 89. We started (secretly!) dating July 89, he proposed Oct 89. We married April 28, 1990! We will be celebrating 34yrs in 18 days! We have 2 grown children, 4 perfect grandchildren (ages 10,8,3, and 5weeks).

A lot of them ask very personal questions like “do you live alone?” Etc. I believe I’ve been trafficked on dating apps twice the last time I’ve been on there. When dating apps first came out most of the profiles were real people but now they are not and especially with AI.

Why not join group's in person that you're interested in. Like hiking, poetry, biking, book clubs, etc.

💯 agree . I am blessed to be married to my BFF for almost 40 years but I have heard some very scary horror stories. Organic dating and finding people in places where you BOTH have interests (community service groups, church, clubs, hobby groups, art museums, paint clubs, hiking and travel, etc). ❤ I would be terrified to meet someone from online and I DO feel for you Halie. But BE PICKY and never settle. Have fun and grow from this stage in your life. Being young is such a blessing - don’t hurry it sweetheart! Much love from East TN! ❤ Jan

I wouldn't say this is necessarily true. I've met people (and somebody special) on a dating app who I've formed deep connections with and I'm so grateful to have them in my life - you just have to be careful, clear on what you want and don't just go on a date with everybody you talk to. Groups are a great option too though of course!

Have you considered not so much searching for someone to date, but instead, looking for friends? Join a club or take a class or something like where you will naturally meet people who share your interests. Maybe you will find someone to date, but even if you don’t you’ll have fun .

A couple years after my divorce I decided to go onto a dating app and let me tell you there are definitely some real creeps out here in Phoenix/Tempe! The one and ONLY guy I agreed to meet at a restaurant turned out to be a stalker that the cops were looking for. I only found that out after I called them because he was stalking me, randomly showing up in places where he had no business being, texting me saying whatever I was wearing that day looked beautiful on me, ect. The cops told me that he was wanted in another state for stalking as well. I would avoid dating apps at all cost!

Dating is hard today. The one thing I learned is to be carful with giving a list of what you’re looking for. People will try and change themselves to “fit” the criteria. Eventually their true self will come out & you’ll feel like you been dating someone for months that you didn’t even know.. honestly, check with your friends or siblings. They might know someone that is single that maybe a good fit. Good luck Halie!!

If you do go on a date with someone from the dating site. Please go somewhere very public and go in separate cars. Make sure you let someone know where you are going. If you feel uncomfortable excuse yourself to freshen up and have the manager etc. walk you immediately to your car so you can leave.

I feel this to my core sadly! I am back in the dating world and its so stressful! The other surprising thing in this tech age for me is the number of people who are not truthful about themselves!! So nuts!! You can verify the stories so fast men are stupid! That date sounds crazy!! So many red flags-poor Halie! That message was detailed hilarious! So back in the day 80s and 90s I met a lot of people some of who are still friends and one I was with for 17 years until he passed on a telephone chat line, I am sure there were creeps and dangers back them to but it seems like the world is full of them now! Some dating tips: always have your own vehicle and money going to a date, always meet in a public place, always give the info of the person to a friend with a check in time. An empty or military career profile is always a red flag! I really loved Halie's vibe before but since she showed her date her standards list, respect on another level. My best advice is stop looking, what is meant for you will find you!

There are so many creeps in real life and online, u need to be extra careful since your parents decided to share so much about you since u were a kid. Is good to have standards but its also important to see what you are doing. A relationship is more than just kisses, cuddles and intimacy. You have to work on it and not just give up because some things did not go your way or exactly to your standards. No one is perfect. Is very important to not make big decisions on temporary emotions. I believe you will keep maturing and you will find your person when you least expect it. Someone who you will grow with and experience many great things.

Best piece of advice I was given when online dating 20 years ago: Meet them in-person in a public place.
It was sad that a couple girls were attacked when they met someone at his apartment right after I got married. Yeah, I am so glad I was given that advice.
I chose to meet mine on Temple Square in SLC.
Also, follow the HG. I only agreed to go on a date with him when I had the impression that I could trust him. We have been married for 20 years, now!

Hallie, my advice would be to take classes. Art, Cooking. Whatever interests you. They don't have to be regular college classes, just fun ones you like. Something to get you involved with like minded people. A lot of people meet though friends. It doesn't always work, but sometimes it does. Be very careful of dating sites. Also be very careful of guys that shower with tons of compliments, gifts, put you on a pedestal ect. They could turn out to be abusive later. Its a fine line. When the time is right it will just happen. Usually when you least expect it🙂.

Hallie honestly seems a bit.. high maintenance and entitled when it comes to her dating life, and I’m guessing it’s not so much the men that are the issue but her entitled mindset. To say “I’ll only date someone who didn’t drop out” is..kinda icky. What if he’s a really good guy but had to leave school to support his family because a parent got sick or something? What if school was just a really bad environment for him and so he plans to get his GED? And her expecting them to always buy HER meals and plan it, but the second she buys a guys meal it’s a dealbreaker.. just seems so entitled. He owes you respect, that’s it. He doesn’t owe you all this stuff just because you agree to go on a date. She just honestly came off super entitled here.

It’s called having standards, not going for just anyone for the sake of being with someone. You should try it. Take your jealousy and bitterness to a therapist. You need one.

    • @brie3679
      @brie3679 2 місяці тому +1

@@LeahFairfield Okay, kiddo. Let me explain this to you. Standards are fine, unrealistic entitled expectations aren’t. Let me explain how big girl life works because clearly you’re not there. There’s zero jealously or bitterness here. I’m perfectly content in the fact that I don’t NEED a man to constantly pay for me. I’m not an entitled brat. She expects a man to be indebted to her for her mere presence. She’s immature and entitled in the regard, as you seem as well. Period. I’m a huge fan of hers, but her ALWAYS expecting a man to pay for her is entitlement and immaturity. Her relationships don’t work out… because of this. Look at her past relationships and why they seemed to fail or the issues she mentioned. She’s incredibly entitled when it comes to partners.. Standards are fine. Unrealistic, entitled expectations aren’t. Once you grow up, you’ll understand that.

I am older than Crystal and Aaron and when I was dating my friends and I always used nicknames for the guys we were talking to or dating just like Halie does now (Mountain lion guy, State Farm guy, etc).
When you're meeting people and might go out on a lot of first dates it's just easier than trying to keep up with actual names and remembering who is who. The nicknames jog your memory better and are usually related to something interesting, funny or memorable about the guy. Glad to see that tradition is still in use today, lol!

I’m 26 and been single for almost 2 years now. I work full time and with my line of work it doesn’t allow me to really meet too many people my age and I also work with a lot of women. Also working full time doesn’t allow me to go out as much to meet people organically, so you almost have to rely on the online dating. It’s not ideal at all but what works best for me! Unfortunately it’s been two years of being single and no one from the dating apps has turned serious. I’ve been in “almost relationships” with people and it always ends up turning out bad because they had been lying about things! It’s kind of hit or miss unfortunately 😩

I moved to London Jan 2021. Met my Italian bf Feb 2022 when I went to an event for single people (that I went to because someone asked me to go with her). My bf and I were both ready to be in relationships because of our ages (26/27) but never really met anyone we connected with. We had our first date and have been together ever since. We always say that we just got lucky but we tried for such a long time with dating before we met. I'm sure you will find your partner but I also hope for you to experience dating as well whether it be online or wherever. You are such a beautiful and talented woman and the person you will choose will be so lucky to have you. Stay blessed.

no matter what, you’ll get weirdos or people wanting to hook up on all dating apps and it’s unfortunately what life is now with finding someone but i loved bumble more than tinder or etc. as that’s where I met my current man and we are going 2 years (or 3 with friendship) and girls are the ones that get to message first which i loved so i didn’t have to deal with getting those cringy gross messages constantly from guys but also gave me tons of confidence to message in general! Just be careful to always let people know where you are and keep in mind anything weird initially said or a vibe you get that you know ain’t right!

Be careful Hallie. A lot if these guys on these apps are just looking for one thing. Maybe have your older siblings set you up on a few blind dates with people they know well or join a group or class with an interest you have and see if you can possibly meet someone there. Maybe have some viewers that live nearby set you up on a few blind dates? Always go to a well lit public place and if you’re afraid to go alone, you can always go on a group date ☺️ Best of Luck Hallie 💞💞💞

Humor is a good quality! My husband and I laugh all the time. I did meet him on line, but it wasn’t a dating app. My son was in a pool league on yahoo, and convinced me to join, so I did. I made friends, and the rest is history. Truth is I wasn’t looking for a relationship. It just happened. But we were friends for about 6 months. I lived in California, and he lived in Georgia. After a year of the long distance thing, I prayed and decided to move to Georgia. We’ve been together for 20 years, married 10.

The best advice I ever got was go into a date with the mindset that this person is not the one but you’re going to find out what you want or don’t want in a person. Go into a date looking for someone to have a fun hour or two. Keep first dates short!! You’ll know immediately if you like them or not. Also never let them pick you up drive and meet somewhere public. Hope this helps. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The topic of safety is the most serious when using any dating app. The risks associated with using these online dating apps are high as there are so many crazy people on them for all the wrong reasons.. You hear, read and see so many horrific crimes associated with them such as stalking, murders, abductions, sexual, assaults, robbery and violence. Halie the right guy will come along when you least expect it.
