I learned of these tires yesterday. they were on a small SUV in a Walmart parking lot. I will look into these later in the year. I usually run Altimax RT43 or Firestone WinterForce for winter, and 4 cheap $40 tires from my uncle's garage for spring thru until winter. thanks for the video
+The Outdoorsman mud is no joke, especially what you were driving through. I think it's as bad as a deeper mud because it makes the top of the ground slick and you start sliding as much as you spin. nicely done! and no, bald tires won't do this..lol
Hey man, I'm looking at putting a set of these in 31x10.5x15 on my 1994 Ford F150 4x4. Have you been able to test them in any deep snow or icy conditions? I also live in Arizona (Maricopa) so I'm usually driving in sand, rock, and dirt, but I'd like to do some exploration of the high country this winter and my current tires (some chinese "all terrain" the last owner put on) aren't cutting it. Would you recommend these? Also, have you been in any "deeper" mud? Thanks! BTW: I checked out some other videos on your channel and they are pretty cool :) I'm impressed a 3rd gen explorer can get as far as it does.
+Kenny TV Thanks for watching and the kind words! The tires are still relatively new, so I haven't had much chance to abuse them. I plan on trying to get stuck soon, since I haven't been stuck yet. I will find something soon hopefully. I am planning on testing them on the Cotton Ln. mountain and much more for comparison. I did notice the trip to Sheeps bridge last month went much better than the trip when I lost 2 GoodYear Forterra tires. Unfortunately, I never had any tires other than all season tires, and I haven't gotten these out to the slippery stuff enough. I will put more videos up when I find more rough stuff. I drove my Focus to Telluride for skiing with all terrain tires somewhat recently. They didn't let me down but were definitely slippery on the ice. The Hankook tires are the best all terrain tire I have owned by far. I especially like how they are snow rated tires and they seem to handle the extreme heat just as well as the frozen stuff. There is only 1 other all terrain which is snow rated I think. (BF Goodrich) I am fairly certain any 4x4 can make it most places. I have had many 2 wheel drive vehicles which only seem to be limited by their ground clearance. My friend even had a 2 wheel drive Explorer which he took to much more extreme places. Just need lots of momentum and a bit of recklessness. The Explorer is still fairly new to me so I am trying to go easy on it.
+gilbert hughes Not much road noise inside the Explorer. Maybe slightly louder than the GoodYears they replaced. Windows down they don't make much noise either though. I do still have a small amount of rub but it doesn't concern me.
How many miles did you get out of them and on the road how was the noise? Looking into new tires for my 06 Trailblazer. I gotta keep the Mrs happy with the noise level.
austin schladenhauffen I removed the lift when i replaced the struts and upper control arms. they were making contact at full extension and can separate the ball joint from the control arm with enough stress.
Marc Thomas I don't see Nokian at all here in Phoenix. not sure they would hold up as well since I have never tried them. Hankooks do seem louder with roughly half the tread life gone. Seems to be normal with tires though. Best value ATM in my book!
4hi would have been better actually.... Get the rpm spin speed out of the tires to spin clean the tires.. But with clean tires comes a fail... Tires, body, etc are muddy it would have been perfect.... 4low is for climbing, puling people,crawling..
fam 2016 thanks for that! I did try high range gearing and had too much traction and not enough torque for wheel slippage. from my more recent mud experiences, low range gearing does not seem to help. the tires don't self clean very well.
+johnny Ramirez I lifted it prior to up-sizing the tires. I'm not certain, but there would probably be more trimming necessary to fit them. I didn't trim much and am pretty sure it is only plastic interfering with them but haven't verified yet.
I have a set of 265/70r16s and have no rubs at all on my 05 mercury mountaineer. Jus popped a tire on a roxk today. Gonna go w 265/70r16 and will see if any lifting or trimming is needed

I haven't had, or heard any complaints so far. Some viewers praised their snow handling abilities as well. Glad you liked it! Thank you!
is it weird that i got these same tires on my 2005 explorer today?
+UndeadProdigy Not to me!
+The Outdoorsman i honestly love these tires i will get another set on my next explorer
+UndeadProdigy Best tires I've had! Sorry I missed the reply to this earlier. I could've sworn I had already. Thanks for watching!

Rey Nino must have some special bald tires.

Any rubbing when you turn and what is the road noise like with them.

+gilbert hughes I trimmed a bit more plastic and there is hardly any rub now.

Still going @220k mi. Not much noise for AT
thats like my drive way in spring lol
What do you have for a lift and did it max out your suspension
austin schladenhauffen I removed the lift when i replaced the struts and upper control arms. they were making contact at full extension and can separate the ball joint from the control arm with enough stress.
The Outdoorsman yeah I had that problem to I had a three in kit I. For two days and hated it I was just wondering if you did something diffrent

I did add back a small approx .5" lift. Butchered the spacers

4 low will give you plenty of wheel speed.
did you have to lift it to fit those tires ??
+johnny Ramirez I lifted it prior to up-sizing the tires. I'm not certain, but there would probably be more trimming necessary to fit them. I didn't trim much and am pretty sure it is only plastic interfering with them but haven't verified yet.
+johnny Ramirez Just took the lift off. Tires seem to fit the same. I trimmed a bit more plastic and there is hardly any rub now

ok thx for the info
Whatcha filming with?? Looks good
Samsung phone not sure which one. Thanks!
i miss my hankooks
+Shaun R Sorry to hear.... How many miles did you get from them?
The Outdoorsman I had about 12k on them when I sold the truck. Probably still had another 30k left to go!
Shaun R Thanks for that!
I can do that exact same thing with bald tires
+Rey Nino Thanks for watching!
That's not snow. Try again.
It's snow to us desert dwellers. How's the weather now? Beautiful here :)
