All I get from this is a guy with a rude, boisterous, & egotistical attitude attacking a teacher who should be treated with respect. Disagree or discuss, don’t attack. The rabbi is so patient. The guy isn’t identified in what I see. Maybe he has seen this and has some shame on his behavior. One could hope & pray.

My second impression was much the same as yours. I would say the first impression but up until halfway I was going to hit the like button. My third impression was, If this guy could answer some of his postulations he could make a good school teacher. It brings me to tears just to think children could understand some of this. Anyways let me get back to what seems to be my response to the Rabi’s videos. There is just to much to say so I will focus on what wasn’t said. I’m surprised the Rabi didn’t mention that our purpose is to make choices. That brings me back to the tears. For children to answer these questions early would make them much more able to make choices and just thinking about that brings me to tears.

#1 obviously everything that happens is God's will. But that doesn't mean that you are supposed to do whatever you want, he has his reasons why things happen but he tells us what we should do. And in retrospect it is all his will
#2 there is a deep will of God and then there is the regular will, Just like when you Wake up and go to work, your deeper will is to live and The superficial will is to make money, same thing is everybody everything that happens in the world. All the consciousness is a will of God but it is there for a deeper will, The mission the purpose.
#3 God creates us even when we mess up, he continues giving us life and sustenance even in those darkest moments, which shows that he has a connection to us which goes deeper than only if we do the right thing, but he is proud and he needs us on a mission to do good things the things he told us to do, Not the things we make up, The things that he tells us in the Torah, To make our lives and ourselves elevated to a a level that they would otherwise never be able to reach and that is called mashiach, revealing how the world is Truly only him

I definitely agree with Rabbi Friedman and definitely disagree with the other gentleman. Not sure who he is. I believe in a higher purpose which is the game in itself. To see who reflects on Him and not material things or world but realizes where what the gentleman calls the gift of life comes from. Meaning instead of looking at the present received, you appreciate the maker that gave it and the purpose or reason behind why He did so. I believe it’s much bigger than the gentleman said. I very much agree with Rabbi Friedman that what appears to be isn’t the all in all. There is a mystery and there is a hope from the Almighty that we may notice it and see if we can follow His cookie crumbs to finding the Holy of Holies. Or the sanctuary of the Temple but in and through Him. Meaning the true depths of becoming one with Him. By understanding Him. Like one does in a marriage in the example He gave us here in life. We see the repetition of this context and concept over and over in the stories of the Bible. The closeness, the oneness with Gd and the chosen who choose to follow Him vs those who rather the material benefits instead of Him. It’s a huge paradox between ideals. Once again the gentlemen on the left projects material enjoyment and pleasures as though thinking receiving alone, like children often do, is all there is to life. As a parent, you learn there is so much more beauty in the gift of giving . This allows us to understand our maker much more. We appreciate the “things” He gave us, but the wise ones see beyond the gift. They see the person. In this case The Creator Himself. Hshem. And so I believe the purpose is not only to find Him and get to truly see Him, but honor Him and His mission to find those that seek Him as we do and lead by His example on how to do this.
Shalom to all His beloved people and apple of His eye!

The gift itself is one purpose, the purpose of Hashem having these experiences with us. But there is also a purpose to all of this, which is free choice, God experiencing what it's like for us to make choices. And because humanity needed guidance on how to be good, God gave us Torah. And God needs us to do the mitzvos is the Torah so we will expand consciousness to a state of holiness on earth...and thereafter the choices will not be so extreme, between good and evil, but rather between good and holy.

Raised Christian here so maybe I’m misunderstanding your point but I don’t think so. If the purpose of this is the “ride” then please stop the planet , I want to get off immediately. I don’t need this. I didn’t need to be created. Up until two years ago I hated it here so much I fully intended to ask the creator to uncreate me when we met! Going on the ride isn’t good enough! If it’s just self service and self growth you can have it! It can’t be that because I exist and that is an unacceptable answer to someone that has had my “ride”. That would make G-d a monster that put us through this just so we could experience it together. Thanks but no thanks! That wouldn’t be a good G-d.

@@geewheeler04 I know this to be true. I don’t expect anyone to take my word for it but here’s the truth… 2 years ago I was sitting on my floor in prayer. The next thing I know I was in the garden of Eden being filled with living water from the four rivers. Then I was back in my house. It was complete bliss and then I was back. I had a NDE (near death experience) after that. It’s difficult to explain because there aren’t words. I’m going to use a story and understand this is an analogy because there aren’t words to describe the actual event. The creator came upon me and was loving in a way I can’t describe. I said are you God? He said others have called me that and you may also if you desire. He said you don’t know it but your body is dying. Do you want to come home or stay? I said if it’s all the same to you I want to come home. He said that it wasn’t all the same and there was a plan. His plan. I stayed for him. Not myself, my husband, children & grandchildren. I did it for him! It’s not about me! As a matter of fact it’s about everyone except me! If everyone had this same understanding what a beautiful world! And it will be! There’s coming a day when service to G-d is shown by our respect and love for each other and our unique connection between us and the creator. For the first time ever I’m excited about being alive because it’s not about me! What a relief 😅

The answer to these questions are only in our Torah sources. only what the true prophets told us in the name of God is the truth. two people exchanging philosophy doesn’t equal the truth of God. I don’t hear too much mention here of prophecies that the Torah says are true in the name of God himself, this should not be about personal opinions, a discussion like this should be based on Torah facts and there would be a lot more clarity in this conversation.

You need to know your audience. This guy clearly doesn't want to hear about mitzvos in general. That being the case, where it's found in the Torah won't matter much to him either. Rabbi Friedman is trying to talk about basic concepts, so that he can get through to the guy first, and then he can mention Torah. As an example, if you see someone desecrating Shabbos G-d forbid, hopefully you won't approach the person and quote all of the sources in Torah for why it's wrong. The vast majority of people in that position would be less interested in keeping Shabbos. If instead, you develop a relationship, and you show that person that you care about them, they will be a lot more interested in what you have to say, especially if it's meaningful to you.

The Baal-Shem-Tow taught: Any leave falling from a tree, falls only due to the will of haSchem. That is determinism pure, lived out by Chassidism. It contradicts to indeterminism, free will and מקרה צירוף. Adam was responsible and punishable based on his choice under in free will against the Creators ban. Only open causality gives to tshuva as to prayer a chance either to be accepted by haShem or not. That implements, that also haShem is exposed to the open contingency and to His intervention. Otherwise He is bound in His created deterministic world. Ethical Determinism is a dead end. Chassidism is caught in that self built trap.

I will agree that THIS is the purpose. But, not in a blind chaotic manner that he describes.
That doesn't fit at all with what we see with science.
Science demonstrates that the universe has been very carefully constructed. With absolute mathematical precision.
The same with history. If purpose was blind and not caring and loving, then the Egyptians would have enslaved the Jewish people and Pharaoh would have succeeded in killing off the Jewish people.
Indeed, countless times Jews survived demonstrates the well ordered and reasoned plan we are a part of. If it was as he describes 🤷 there simply wouldn't be any Jews and why would there be anyway. It would be just as fine to disobey every mitzvah and rape the world at our selfish desire.
But, as the NAXIs found out, that most certainly is not the case. It is not the reality that we live in. We are protected and blessed by Adonai because Adonai loves and WANTS to be loved in return.🙏

  • @jackietate5222
    @jackietate5222 Місяць тому

So, in his view God will be ok if I have every living thing attached to a computer chip and control every action they make (there is no free will anyway) and I program every single living thing to experience immense pain and fear at all times (there is no purpose).
I don't think that is true.
God is a loving God and pain, and fear are only tools to drive us forward through evolution so that we can be more like God. Which is an eternal enterprise.
The more we are like God, the more we will become rational and loving creatures. And, again, the purpose of this endeavor is that we will also turn to God and love God.
We have free will. If there was no free will then Moshiac would have came a long time ago. But, every generation makes choices and every generation Moshiac has CHOSEN not to return and fulfill his purpose.
But, every generation it could have happened.
It can happen in this generation. But, only if we choose. Without choice there is no love.
But, that doesn't mean that God doesn't intervene. Indeed, God is always intervening. But, within limits because God respects the process of free will. And God is patient.
It seems like a long time to us, but to God it is a moment.
So, there is certainly free will and there is certainly purpose, and God certainly Wants.

No other religion has such a complex and sophisticated prayer ritual that even comes close to tefilin. No man could have ever come up with that. Think about it: you live 3500 years ago. And you would construct such a ritual. Then try to convince the sceptics (like this guy). It’s impossible. It wouldn’t be successful.
And yet.. Tefilin still exists. And it will continue to exist. Divine guidance. That’s the only explanation.
