I have watched ASMR videos for going on 12 years now but never once thought I might pick up a mic and try it myself until I stumbled upon your first Apothecary video as well as WhisperAudios’ Victorian role plays. So many of the triggers in your videos are the things themselves-the layered backdrop, the wondrous props that your character handles, the endless details. That’s when I first realized I might use some of my midcentury tchotchkes to paint a different kind of scene. So thank you. I am much obliged. ☺️☺️☺️

Oh my goodness. This touched my heart. My Aunt Paula was the head librarian for more than 20 years in my hometown.
I used to love to go visit her at work. Her office smelled like fresh paper and I used to volunteer as a young adult checking out books and re-shelving them. I can still remember her teaching me the Dewey decimal system.
You not only gave me tingles but your vide heped bring back some wonderful memories that I hadn't thought of in many years.

That was one of my favorite parts about the library-those dust jackets. I also loved the sounds of the card being stamped and put back into the holder.
I loved going to the library as a kid. It was a full asmr immersion. I especially enjoyed the date stamping of books and cards. I intentionally checked out the maximum number of books every time I visited just to be able to experience a lot of that. Back then the had everyone’s library card information on a Rolodex and when they’d spin it, it was tingles galore. It’s no fun anymore. You scan your own books at a self check area like groceries! 😭

the scratching sounds from hardcover books is one of my absolute favorite triggers, the book about little bear was so tingly🧸😍
Same here-and in retrospect, I should have handled it more. But I was strangely feeling a little ill when I was recording, so I had to cut it short. Next time, girl!! I’ll be sure to be at the circulation desk when she checks it back in!!

This is lovely. It reminds me of my grandmothers office at her accounting firm. I loved to play with this calculator that had a printer attached and made the best noises

Hi @joannekempf3350 -I’m so sorry about that. I think I have fixed the problem. Unfortunately, come October, I may not be able to do anything about it, as UA-cam has decided to run end roll ads whenever they want, even if the creator doesn’t want them to. The ASMR community is speaking out and asking for an exemption, given the nature of our work. But I’m not hopeful. Anyway, I’ll update everyone when we get closer to the implementation of that policy. Thanks for watching. 💚💚💚

What's kinda freaky to me is that I remember Anacin still being produced and sold in my own early years (the early 80s)...and now we don't really see it at all. I also remember card catalogs with their drawers still being a thing even in my high school years. I actually miss it on one level or another, tbh.

wonderful. and just exactly like my very first asmr experience as a child, waiting at the library counter for my mom, watching the librarian do her work and time stood still for I was absolutely mesmerized and didn't want to ever leave this place. the concentrated stamping, the lovely papercards, the slowness, the respectful way to treat books, the calm politeness with people. Thank you so much for this memory and your wonderful work!

Yeah, it is hard to believe!! In the 70s, I used put $1 of gasoline at a time in my old Ford Torino (my first car). 😂😂 I was a poor high school student and never filled up my car higher than a quarter of a tank.
Oh yeah, hot school lunch at full price was quarter and postage stamps were a nickel in '65.
Every time I watch this one, I smell old books, glue and library carpet 😊❤️😊

Hi! I stumbled upon your channel and I can already say I loove your videos and content overall! I struggle a lot with anxiety, specially since it’s triggered by night time, but just your vibes already help me calm down a lot! Your videos were a blessing to me since now I can go to bed without being scared of my anxiety attacks.
But into more light matters, I’m from Brazil, so the 60’s culture used to be very different from what was shown, but it’s so nice to see all the props and just overall communication/behavior that was the common norm. I believe american women were more calm than their (way more into parties) brazilian counterpart 😅
As a natural curious person, I would like to ask if it doesn’t make you uncomfortable, what’s the biggest change you can notice from when you were a child and from now? Is a technology item, a generational difference, a more open mind from young people… Anyways, sorry for the long comment, and great video as always!
Interesting questions. There are so many differences between the 60s and now. But from a purely experiential point of view (that is, from the perspective of a kid unaware of war and racism), I would say the way children live their lives is sooooo very different. When I was a kid, we had just as much fun making stuff out of cardboard and fabric and sticks and mud as we did getting a new toy (not that a new toy was a bad thing). We also stayed out playing in the neighborhood till dark. At least in my white lower-class neighborhoods, we felt safe and never even thought about locking up our homes or our car doors. Kids were trusted to take care of themselves more. All of that is to say: my brother and I had what I would call a "free-range" childhood. 😂😂 And, fortunately for us, one where we were loved by both our parents. I really wouldn't want a do-over of any part of my childhood. For me, at least, it was idyllic.
