Despite the historical inaccuracy of the film, the stop-motion whimsical film, THE INVENTOR, about DaVinci's later years ---
is a sweet film that isn't just for kids but really more for teens and adults. It's a piece of art and may spark an interest in DaVinci's life. Leonardo never published all his diagrams, and nobody else knew about them until his notebooks were discovered long after death. However, engineers have begun constructing models of da Vinci's incredible machines and most work in recent years.

Misinformation is rife with this film, his machines did not really work, nor is there any evidence he built and used them himself, he did not have such arguments with the church, he did not build a city, he did not snap his fingers and make a full tree sprout, seems to overplay his relationship with kings, and one who looks oddly like Henry 8, who was not born yet, the female lead is historically dubious. This is going to give kids the wrong idea. But it ok cause it is in a nostalgic animation style you all like huh? Don't just say 'oh its a kids movie so it doesn't matter anyways' if you wanted to make a fun story like this, put it in a totally fictional setting, not a historical one.
