    My own way of zeroing was just dragging my scope reticle from point of aim to point of impact after one shot using the turret adjustment then after that I'll go back to shoot again at point of aim and that's it you don't need more adjustment and ammo for zeroing. then remove the turret and put it back to zero so you don't need to worry if someone turn it left and right or up and down.

    I put the gun in the lead sled. Shoot 3-5 shots, then look through the scope as I turn my adjustments. I turn them both until they are in the middle of the shot group.
    Did this for my friends brand new .308 and had it zeroed in 5 shots without measuring MOA or MILs.

      It’s not something specific to that optic, it’s every optic! You can get behind your optic and slightly move your head back and forth, up and down, you’ll notice the reticle actually “moving” around slightly.. it really makes a difference at longer ranges.. it all comes down to consistency, placing your head in the same position every shot. He’s teaching good info here! 👊🏻🇺🇸

    I couldn't figure out which optic I wanted to buy today. So less than an hour ago I decided on the monstrum banshee SFP LPVO. 1-10x24.
    I was going to go with a red dot but I wanted something that had zoom capability.
    And it seems as though the LPVO Scopes are really really big right now and I haven't heard anything bad about them so I figured why not?
    Now mind you I've never even used a battery powered optic on a single firearm in my life. I have loads of guns but it's all iron sights with everything. The only Scopes I have are on my hunting rifles and my competitive rifles. Nothing's battery powered.
    This is going to be interesting for me.
    I do appreciate the video. You have gotten my subscription with this one. Keep up the excellent work!

    I hope people understand that MIL scopes do NOT require use of the metric system. It couldn't be easier, one click (0.1 MIL) equals 1/10,000th of the distance you're shooting. 100 yards? Easy, that's 300 feet, 3600 inches, so 0.1 MIL click is 0.36 inches -- very close to 1/3 inch.

      I wish I'd learned Mils before I bought a scope in MOA. I figured MOA was easier to use, but that's only because I am comfortable with yards, feet, etc. Now that I'm starting to understand mils, it makes so much more sense for shooting.

    I noticed in the beginning of your video, which was excellent by the way that you turn the power all the way up did you turn the power all the way down and re-check zero or does that matter when I zeroed my LP video I put it on the power that I thought I would typically use which was about five and made the zero there is does that make a significant difference as far as where you have the power? Thanks for any response

    • @jmh1101
      @jmh1101 Рік тому +1

      No. The crossbar or middle of the reticle should be on at any magnification. What you are worried about is if you're using a second focal plane scope all the secondary hash marks, ballistic drop marks etc are only accurate on the power you zeroed at and/or max zoom whichever the scope requires.

    • @christopherascherl2411
      @christopherascherl2411 Рік тому

      I believe this scope is FFP so there shouldn't be a zero shift during magnification change but there could be some with a SFP scope; if you zero at the highest power you are going to use you shouldn't notice a problem a 1x at closer range; the magnitude depends on the quality of the scope and I believe it gets worse the farther from the center of you need to adjust the scope to zero.

    • @TacticalRifleman
      @TacticalRifleman  Рік тому +4

      Yes, but you can only pick one. If you pick where it crosses the rising branch, the crossing of the falling branch will depend on you bullet’s trajectory. It is always better to zero as far out as possible; so I prefer to zero the falling branch when using a “Point Blank Zero.” (Mostly red dots). Here though, because it has a MIL reticle, I chose to zero at 100 meters.

    I'm running an MRO with a 3X on one build but plan on swapping that to my shorter barrel and getting an LPVO for my 16" rifle. I've been trying to decide between PA or Vortex, both seem great. Any input is always welcome.
    Thing is, the only place around is an indoor range (outdoor ranges are all private clubs) The max distance is 50 yards I believe. Does anybody have suggestions on some targets to buy that adjust for the shorter ranges so I can zero to 150, 200, or further? We had them in the military but I haven't looked much as a civilian. I'd like to assume reliability isn't a concern since 1" is 1"... but I'm a welder and fabricator, I've seen tapes and shit where 1" doesn't start at 1". So that's why I'm asking.

    • @TacticalRifleman
      @TacticalRifleman  Рік тому +3

      I prefer the reticles offered by PA over Vortex.
      Hunt locally online, and you'll find outdoor ranges out to 200 to 400 meters easy. They may be a couple hours away, but make a day of it, as you don't have to zero too often.
