Great comparison. I have a Pard 008 LRF. Superb bit of kit. Put a Viltrox DC50 screen on it via a HDMI cable and mount it on the side rail and night shooting is as clear as day shooting without looking through the unit. Excellent.

Having owned the ATN, Photon XT, and now a Pard 008, the PARD simply pisses all over both of them. Great and honest review, well done. And you are right, ATN after sales service is terrible. My ATN was nothing but trouble, sold it, bought a PARD, never been happier.

Thank you for the very helpful video, I was about to buy the ATN but when I saw the size difference of the two units I went for the Pard NV008SLRF instead, a few less silly features and like you I preferred an exchangeable very common battery. The zoom looks much easier and quicker to use.

I had the ATN, I had a bunch of issues with it. When I got in touch with other users on facebook I learned there were ALOT of problems with ATN products, especially the 4k. I sent mine back and bought a pard 007.
Now If the ATN was reliable and worked properly I would have loved it. Especially the ballistic computer and ABL functions. I bought dual adapters so I can move this between my .30-06 Weatherby and my FX Dreamline and between as a standalone nightvision monocular.

I use Sight Mark and they have stellar customer service. My scope went kaput and so I called them up and they gave me shipping label etc. They returned it a week and a half later with a new one and a newer generation than I had submitted! Great video.

I know this is late but...the pricing you mention is certainly different in the States. The Pard 008 LRF is $1000 and the ATN 4K is $700. I would also disagree that ATN's customer service is rubbish. I have contacted them several times for help on loading firmware (my fault) to wanting to buy the new cantilever mount that comes with the LTV. They sent me the mount for free plus a tee shirt.
I've had 3 ATN's and maybe I'm just used to their menu system and features but I like it a lot. I also very much like the ballistic calculator which is a must for any distance shooting. Maybe the Pard is fine for limited range of an airgun but not for anything that shoots farther than 150 yards (meters).
If the Pard WAS in the $700 range I might consider it for .22LR but then again ATN has introduced the LTV 3-9 @ $599 or 5-15 @ $675.

We love the Pard because it is so simple and it just works. You are correct the phone app is Pants. Great review and have to say the more i hear about the pard the more appealing it becomes. I have the 4k and only crashes i have ever had has been while linking it to a phone then it falls over like a drunk at closing time. My other major beef with the 4k is the focus ring being phenomenally stiff to the point that i dont bother and leave it on about 35m. On the plus side the linked LRF/ ballistics calculator is a godsend and amazingly accurate taking the estimation out of night shooting down to 7 or 8 m which is the one thing that the Pard really lacks. If Pard added that then it would be a no brainer for a lazy git like me.

Nice honest comparative review @Steve. Hopefully PARD will issue a firmware update (sooner rather than later), including a ballistic calculator and a FFP reticle option.
The other thing I'd like to see PARD include is an option to record in 4:3 ratio, as the PARDs display in 4:3 but record in 16:9 ratio, so the picture is stretched during recording, to 1,920x1,080. I pre-process all my recorded footage back to 1,440x1,080 before editing, it's still full HD but now in 4:3 ratio so reticles look correct and wheels are round again. :o)
A lot of digital scopes need shimming (nature of the beast), but few are as easily shimmed as the PARD.
@Kevgun (on the NV Forum and Airgun forum) will shortly be producing a one-piece replacement mount that includes both vertical and horizontal adjustment, via lockable grub screws = the end of shimming!
Keep up the good work, cheers. Russ
Ps. FYI I've illustrated the 16:9 / 4:3 ratio differences with comparison clips here: ua-cam.com/video/Bz95rsyEWpA/v-deo.html

I have been waiting forever even though I never bothered to ask anyone for a review and was just bidding my time for a good solid reviewing these two choices. The only thing I did not catch is slow motion or is that something that is done in playback? Thank you for your opinion on these optical choices. KISS keep it simple stupid! I have had the ATN X sight 2 for four years, no problems at all! When ever I had a question tech support was right there. The biggest defference between the two is " what are you using it on?" If its a pellet gun I guess the Pard would be fine but if you are using it on a rifle, the balastic calculater is worth its weight in gold! I shoot out to 300 - 600 yards and its dead on! Its like having an awesome spotter with you all the time. I would not give that up if the Pard was $50, and thats about all I would spend for a pellet gun optic. Just my opinion but for a real rifle the ATN is the way to go. I am not putting down air rifles as I own a couple of good ones myself, but really, how good of an optic do you really need for shooting 75 yards or so? I suppose it all depends on where you live too, if you can't have a rifle and are limited to air guns get what works for you. I have profiles for many rifles and pellet guns set on my ATN, works great on both and having night vision for rats on pellet rifle is cool, but I will stick with the ATN. Great vid though!!!

You are one of the lucky ones then. I am not deliberately slating ATN, but very rarely do I hear good stories like this. Hopefully this will all change in the UK now the distribution has changed to Highlands. But all that said, we must remember that this was not designed for Air Rifles and ATN seem really not to care about the air rifle community with regards to their scopes. I have a 4K PRO for 2 years and I never had any problems. I use it on my Browning Bar Prime .300 WM.
Most of the shots I shoot are between 75 and 100 meters to wild boar or deer.
I think that if you use PARD instead of ATN at the end of the 2 shot you would be dead.
Anyway, I will test the PARD on my Marlin 30-30 as this caliber is already much smoother.

Since the IR light is too far away from the animals, they can not see it.

      FYI:
Don't look directly onto the IR lens too long.

    Before I found Pard I had 2 ATN's
My ATN's were a complete nightmare.
I got lucky to sell them off at a minor profit.
I finally settled on 2 pards. A nv 008 and
    The SA 35.
    Both units have preformed FLAWLESSLY!!!
So much so I not only wrote to atn praising Pard..but went to a local gun expo and publicly bashed atn.
To say the least representative's from atn are not happy..( they actually filed a lawsuit against me but quickly withdrew due to overwhelming evidence against ATN's problems with its products)

The only sad thing with the Pard is when I read the add it said you had 5 different colours on the scope X hair, but it seems we only have 2 red and yellow. Red is not such a great colour as its most abundent natural colour of the light spectrum, and to some of us, it can kind of look ( due to red) a little Smudged. I am sure it would not be hard for Pard to put out an update to throw say an extra blue and green in the choice, much kinder to the eye. and maybe another couple of cross hair types to choose from, would be good as well. But thats my 2 cents worth!!

The SD card needs to be a micro SD card up to 32gb. Buy one from Amazon. Slot it in, use the Pard menu system to format it (see my other videos) and away you go. No need to change anything if you swap rifles.

  • @پارسارازگردانی-س1ن

A question, sir. At different times, it automatically adjusts the point of impact itself? Which model do you recommend for the PCP rifle, 4k or pard008?

    • @angelisone
      @angelisone 3 роки тому

It doesn't adjust automatically. You have to press those buttons.
Which you can always do & adjust all optically scopes. It's all marketing. 4k is dead weights!
ATG, my uncle & I suggest to look for Pard NV007s.
Then you can attach it to many scopes & less weights than both.
I used 007s onto my Accuracy International Arctic Warfare for long distances.

Im looking for something with a little bit less parallax over the Hawke , do i just go all in for the pard or upgrade the normal optics ?

I’ve talked with ATN about the xsight 4K pro and it had 4K footage but due to a glitch they removed it. They tell me later this year 4K filming will be restored. But I’ll believe it when I see it available on my xsight.

    • @MACISUS
      @MACISUS 5 років тому

Yes. It’s actually been working flawless since I got the direct firmware install tool. I do not put the update on a SD card rather plug the atn into my laptop and hit update on the tool.
My first one did freeze all the time but was quickly replaced with a new unit and has preformed amazingly. The issue I have had is I purchased rechargeable batteries for the Illuminati and the seller (not atn) claimed they were 3v each but were actually 3,7v. So they burnt out my Illuminator. I’m currently trying to get a replacement.

Never had a crash with my ATN 4K. Did yours have latest firmware? You don’t need sunshade if you have ABL, which keeps length down. You are paying for the glass in ATN - it’s a scope first with digital bits added.

    • @brucemcpherson8832

No, it's a scope last - the glass quality is no more than mediocre and ATN won't even tell you the lens aperture.
It's a scope for the I Phone generation - full of features of dubious value, and not enough effort put into making the optical side of the device to a decent standard
