  • We finally got our hands on a bottle of Ardnamurchan, which is a newer scotch whisky distillery (owned by Adelphi) on the Ardnamurchan peninsula of Lochaber in the Highlands, Scotland. The distillery is considered one of the remotest distilleries in Scotland and takes its name from the peninsula.

I'm on my third bottle of this release. It's a stellar whisky. $65 in my market (Missouri). Their cask strength expressions are even better. Solid 3.5 for me.

This bottle is heaven. Never had a whisky with this much depth of flavor and this little heat at such a young age. I get some Oban coastal/maritime/fruit vibes, but better. My bottle would carry a 5 year age statement, and I would take it all day over the Oban 14. I don’t know how they’re making the magic at Ardnamurchan, but they’re doing incredible things.

I haven’t had that bottle but the descriptors that comes to mind for me with that distillery are: rugged, farmy, and gentle ash.
    Thanks for your review gentleman!

$70 (+tax) in CA and $90 for the cask strength version. Looking forward to older versions.

I have had EXCEPTIONAL Ardnamurchans. Like up there with the best I've ever had. And I've had ho-hum Ardnamurchans. I'm always excited to try a new one, but also cautious.

Just picked up and cracked one myself and I will definitely pick up another before it's gone, sweet heather iodine notes which are not unique, but are tasty adding water makes it mellow...er

I know Peat and I like Peat, Peat is a good friend of mine. I might have to find a bottle for the cold winter nights.

It’s a solid 3.5 and CS is a 4. Madeira cask or Paul Lanois casks even better!,

I'm late to this party, but I honestly have been hoping no one would notice Ardna. I've got 6 bottles, all different, and all fantastic. Once this gets found out, it will be tough to find. It is so good. Cask strength is tough to find, but even more of what makes this good. Andrew is on it for this one.

$60ish in West Texas. I get prices differ in different locations but dang that's a jump if in fact you paid about $90

$90 is tough, but for UK prices (£50ish?), I could see 3.5

3,5 should be a very solid mark based on your scale but you guys are giving it too easy. Lets remember that this is not more than 7 years old whisky. Imagine if it was 12 years old Cask strength version and some of you should have given it like 4.5

Yes. Those that use Islay peat, which isn't every Islay distillery. NB Tobermory are the only non-Islay distillery that I know of which uses Islay peat.
