‘Loud minority’ trying to ‘shame’ Australians for wanting to celebrate Australia Day

- Sky News host Peta Credlin has criticised the “loud minority” of activists seeking to change the date of Australia Day.
Calls have been made for a change to the date of Australia Day from the 26th of January.
Ms Credlin says they are trying to “shame” Australians for wanting to “celebrate this great country”.
“Data is in and it shows that only 17 per cent of Australians believe Australia Day should be moved.
Ms Credlin was joined by IPA Deputy Executive Director Daniel Wild to discuss the changes to Australia Day.
Ask America if they should change July 4th! Stand strong Australia, it will always be January 26th, PROUD Aussie!!!!!!!
Australia Day is not an independence day 😂 it is a colonial day.
And it was the beginning of modern Australia! You can't change or re write history!
The difference is they are celebrating when they left the British, not when they joined it.
@robertsharp3238 love your comment, and its so true.

@@albyj5522I hate to tell you this but people and lands have been invaded all over the world since day dot. Grizzling about it won't change the past. No one these days condones what has happened in the past, but it is the past. How long do the rest of Australia have to apologise for actions which had nothing to do with us. Grieve if you must, but also realise that Australians who have been born here or have moved here embrace this country and want to celebrate being part of this country. No one is celebrating the atrocities which happened in the past. And by the way, it wasn't just indigenous people targeted. Or we could just leave the blame of so called invasion to the people responsible for it and move forward to a brighter future?
When it comes to the English settlers, my ancestors came in on the 3rd fleet and were welcomed in by the local aboriginals. They freely traded guns for fur with the aboriginals and everybody was happy. No invasion because there were that much land.
So when it comes to the so called invasion, it becomes all about political manipulation to steal tax payers money and political power and control.

Australia Day has been celebrated on many different dates since federation. Prior to federation the colonies all had their own foundation day. 26th of January is only relevant to NSW and Aborigines as 1788 was NSW foundation and 1948 was when Aborigines were recognized as Australian citizens. 1788 was the 58th anniversary of the blond haired Aborigines Dutch ancestor’s building Australias first western dwellings and water wells albeit their Dutch ancestors didn’t settle by choice. Aborigines migrated in 3 waves between 5k and 60k years ago and there a sites through Qld where entire tribes were clubbed to death when the different groups met around 15k years ago so it’s not as simple as people think.
