I noticed a weird glitch at 13:51 and 15:20 where the enemies "blink" in and out of existence for a split second before the animation of them dropping into place plays.
But yeah even though I actually had fun with the Switch version despite the downgraded graphics and clunky gyro aiming, this... now THIS is what I wanted the remake to look like!
I remember feeling like such a rebel back in the day at Timezone when I snuck under the black cloth ignoring the MA15+ warning. I'm sure the cloth was only there to entice people to put money in.
The black cloth was due to Australia law forbidding the public exhibition of MA15+ and R18+ video games.
I think The House of the Dead series might be the only arcade games to get an MA rating in this country.

Ridiculous how superior this is in comparison to the botched Switch version, they could've saved themselves a hell of a lot less negative reviews if they hadn't opted for a timed exclusive with Nintendo.
Soundtrack still needs modded though.

I didn't like the Switch version, but my tune changed when I fired up the PC version.
(Full discloscure - I was given a free copy of both the Switch and PC version)
I was shocked by the massive difference in visuals. Bodies no longer disappear in a haphazard way and the lighting effects are more atmsopheric.
Not to mention the mouse controls are far more accurate than the clunky gyro controls on the Switch release.
I agree with the soundtrack. From a dev interview made before, they did mention that they wanted to put the original soundtracks in the game, Sega unfortunately lost the source code for the house of the dead 1, the devs suggested that they rip assets from the Wii and PC ports of HotD 1, Sega declined due to third party legal issues.
Good news here is the devs confirmed that they have rights for the house of the dead 2. And from what I know, sega has the source code for 2 and a possibility that 2 would include more of the original assets.
Not fair though- the Switch is a miniature GTX 1650 that hits 1080p at best; this vid is an RTX whatever at 4k
@@James-wd9ib it's not even a problem with the resolution though, the switch port was just horribly optimized, textures look good awful, the choppy framerate makes high score runs a bit tedious, there's all sorts of lighting bugs too.
House of The Dead 4 and Overkill EC ran on the PS3 at 720p I believe? and they look superior, even as games that are 10+ years older.
The dev team for this got dealt a pretty bad hand tackling this remake for all these platforms while having a fraction of the resources that were present for those games.

I cant wait to try this with the Mayflash Wiimote Adaptor using the Wiimote, would love a Sinden Gun but cant afford at the moment. I hope this will work ok, as it has a mouse mode. Did you adjust the sensitivity much when using the mouse please? Thanks a lot for the video. Looks great and a step ahead of the Switch for sure.

The graphics options include Ambient Occlusion, Bloom, Motion Blur and Anti-aliasing with a simple on/off switch.
While the shadow quality has three settings - low, medium and high.
There's no option to adjust the texture filtering, but I managed to force 16x anisotropic filtering using the Nvidia Control Panel.

Yeap, I played through the entire game using a mouse.
