His name is Kevin. He’s a Harvard Graduate and when he signed on to PTX he was practicing law. He’s and accomplished Cellist, pianist, and master ‘beat boxer’.
They do occasionally have an instrument but it is always shown when they do. Kevin had a UA-cam video of what he calls cello-boxing (playing cello while beatboxing) and that is how Scott found him and asked him to become a member of the group to go on the tv show The Sing Off. If you want to get an idea of what Kevin can do check out any of his songs on his channel. He is extremely talented!
Kevin Olusola is a master cellist, as well as beatboxer extraordinaire. He also speaks fluent Chinese, and sings tenor. Oh yeah! He also became a dad this spring. Kaia Olusola was born in April!
Kevin isn't human. He's basically an orchestra all on his own. You definitely need to check out his 'KOver' of 'Down'. Another solo is Mitch's cover of 'Your Power' by Billie Eilish. Another masterpiece. He wrote, performed, and mixed the piano and synths backing for it, so Another member who can play an instrument AND sing. I think they can all play at least one instrument actually. I know Scott can definitely play the piano, but I'm not sure about Matt and Kirsty. Probably though, they're all incredibly gifted musically. Thanks for more PTX! Now... can we have more...PTX??😆😆😆
Kirstin is the only one I'm not sure of... Matt plays drums and "some" piano according to the "introducing Matt Sallee" video on the official page. In a 2018 PTXperience video they were talking about Matt playing those big drums with a mallet during one of their concerts but I forget what song they added it to.
On top of Kevin playing instruments and singing and beatboxing he's also amazingly smart. He speaks like 9 languages and was pre-med before he withdrew from college to do the sing off (that they ended up winning)!
Great review guys. For starters, I'm happy to read the comments in this thread educating you about Kevin. He actually went to Berkley for the Cello and is an incredibly musician all around. But I wanted to see if you noticed at 4:15 a "shoutout" to "Bad Romance" when they added a little "whoah oh ohhhh". :-)
Radioactive is an amazing cover that not only features Kevin on his cello but also features Lindsay Stirling on her violin. It’s a really good song! Apocalyptic.
Papaoutai is a great Stromae cover that includes Kevin’s celloboxing as well as Lindsay Stirlings talents. It’s done in French though you don’t have to know French to appreciate it.
Yaaay!! Another PTX!! Beyonce is the cello’s name. Kevin names his instruments. 🤪 We already know how insanely talented he is - beatboxing while playing the cello. Hello?! Beyonce is also in Say Something, Thank You & Radioactive.
I believe Kevin is credited with developing celloboxing (beatboxing and playing cello simultaneously). It was thru this skill that PTX discovered him and invited him to join the band. SAY SOMETHING, PERFECT and RADIOACTIVE are some other Pentatonix songs in which he does this.
This is such a beautiful and powerful rendition with Kevin celloboxing, Kirsten's voice piercing through, Scott doing his thing along with Mitch and Matt holding down the bass. They are amazing. Glad you guys found them. It's nice to see how much you appreciate their obvious talent!
Kevin is a multi-talented man. He beatboxes, while playing concert quality cello. He played a concert at Carnegie Hall on the Saxophone when he was younger and won awards. He was in medical school but put that aside when he joined PTX. On top of that, he speaks five languages.
Phenomenal! Kirstie and Scott nailed this one and what can any one say about Kevin? He’s a true musical genius and he’s a classically trained cellist and saxophonist too. Props to Matt and Mitch for their understated but essential parts!
Kevin created the form known as Cello-boxing and on occasion he will break out "Beyonce" (name of his cello) Kirstin's voice cuts like a laser it is so bright in tone
Kevin is a world class cello player. He's played at Carnegie hall. He also plays keyboards and I'm pretty sure it's the saxophone. It's not the saxophone it's another 1 of the horn instruments. Check out his cover of Marion hills down. His channel is called KO
Thanks for your reactions to PTX, guys! I love watching each and every one! I can't remember if you reacted to their cover of Can't Hold Us or not. If you haven't, check it out!
I like this version WAY better than the original for one simple reason. Kirstie and Scott are life-long friends who have been through a LOT together (they even dated for a while in high school). Who better to convey the emotion that this duet requires than those two? You can tell by the way that they look at each other that there is a lot of REAL emotion between them...and there's no play acting going there at all. BTW, Kevin was already a concert cellist by the time he was a teenager, and he actually invented "cello-boxing" (the skill of beatboxing and playing the cello at the same time), and that's what got him the gig in Pentatonix in the first place. He plays cello in several of their songs. The black and white video with the gold highlights was an homage to both the movie posters for A Star Is Born and the film's soundtrack album cover, which used the same effect.
I just watched your channel for the very first time today and have now binge watched all of your Pentatonix reactions, love them!! Can’t wait for more!
Kevin is immensely talented. He plays not only the cello and the saxophone. He also has perfect pitch. If you want to see a video of the talent that is Kevin, watch 'Down'. ua-cam.com/video/IGjg193h4Ok/v-deo.html

Great job boys. Remember. Pentatonix doesn’t do covers. They do upgrades. 😀
Yes they do...kev
Kevin has played cello at Carnegie Hall and is a multi lingual musician, fluent in Mandarin.
He has also played the saxophone at Carnegie Hall!

Instruments are rare. When you get to the Christmas music, Scott plays piano/Kevin on cello in "Thank You".
A few PTX song bring me to the brink of tears every time, and "Thank You" is definitely one of them.
Kevin isn't human. He's basically an orchestra all on his own. You definitely need to check out his 'KOver' of 'Down'.

I concur on both Kevin Olusola's cover of Down and Mitch Grassi's cover of Your Power! Would love to see their reactions on both of those!

Kevin is amazing. I have no idea how he can play cello and beat box at the same time. I'd recommend his solo video 'Down', he's so talented!
Link to Down cover by Kevin. A must see. ua-cam.com/video/IGjg193h4Ok/v-deo.html
One of my favorite covers from them! Kirstin killed it. And Kevin and his cello are amazing. And as always-Mitch. Thanks for the reaction!
Kevin is not only a world class beat boxer but is also a classically trained cellist among his many, many talents.

Kevin Oslusa is bloody awesome, You should check out his cover of 'Down' No, they are all bloody awesome. but still a recommendation:) have fun chaps
Kevin invented Cello Boxing. What a talent! If I was an artist I would NEVER let PTX do a “cover”. They make everything better 🤣♥️

great glad you enjoyed it :) ....kev
Everytime I watch this I fall more in love with it. Love your reaction.

I Love this song by PTX. When PTX does a cover they make it an upgrade! Looking forward for the next one.
Thanks for your reactions to PTX, guys! I love watching each and every one! I can't remember if you reacted to their cover of Can't Hold Us or not. If you haven't, check it out!
Thank you for reacting to this amazing Pentatonix video. Glad that you liked it. I look forward to more of your Pentatonix reactions.
More to come!

Perfect description
Kirsten is no Lady Gaga...
@@theshadowfax239 And no one wants her to be. They both have fantastic qualities all their own.
I just watched your channel for the very first time today and have now binge watched all of your Pentatonix reactions, love them!! Can’t wait for more!
Awesome! Thank you!....kev
Kirstin or Kirstie like "thirsty".. love your reactions!
Kevin is a classically train musician who plays piano, cello, and saxophone
Kevin does play cello in some videos. Scott has played piano in one. Only MOSTLY a Capella.
Loved your reaction.
Lemon played cello and then ALTO SAX at Carnegie. Her had just graduated from Yale med school when he joined PTX
This is the second video they filmed one after another while on tour so hard working,
You should react to them singing radioactive with Lindsay sterling
For Mitch's range you should watch the live video " AHA" Star Vista I swear he shatters windows.
Ah, the Avi and Mitch show. Holds the Avi gut kick and the ultimate Mitch slap. But if you do watch that, then install seat belts first.
@@heidifruchtl354 .....Right!!!
