I'm an old Honda lover, and am in no way angry with anything you guys did to it. This bike was junk when you got it and not even good for parts, in my opinion.
One thing you might have been able to try is mix up some 10:1 or so fuel to try run it. Thin enough to get through the carburetor, but thick enough to raise the compression.
I do think congratulations is in order though. I think this is the Jankiest Cars and Cameras video to date. I loved it!

Guess calipers, compression gauge, micrometers, feeler gages to measure valve lap don't work as well as a stick and hammer and pipe. There is a term in manufacturing called tolerance, what is and not allowed, usually specified on engineered prints.but what do I know.i work within plus minus 1 millimeter.and own a goldwing, hammer pipe and stick won't diagnose electrical problems. Trying shortcuts will cost you in the long run.

My brother-in-law bought a brand new 350-4 back around 1972/73 time frame. I loved that bike, it ran so smooth compared to my 160 or my other bil's 305 Big Bear. In the UK & Europe, the CB350 Four became the CB400 Four, between 1974 & 1978. Haynes do a workshop manual for the CB350 Four & CB499 Four.
In the UK, during the 1980's, there was a 430cc big bore kit, made by Yoshimura, for the CB400 Four, if I remember right. I'd have to check an old motorcycle magazine ad for the kit. There was also an aftermarket turbo kit, that was tested in a UK motorcycle magazine, during the mid-1980''s.

Soaked the cylinder with PB Blaster, let it soak. Finally freed up and it barely runs. Cleaned the carb but it still uses a ton of fuel. And it surges, so that speed controller needs a new spring I think. But it works. Neighbors don't like the smoke so maybe I'll hit up GPS for parts to rebuild it. I didn't want to pull the head without a new gasket, so just PB Blaster only

On the cylinder sleeves. You don't press them in-out. You set them blocked up with the top of the cylinder down. Place in over. Set oven at 350*. As the oven heats the cylinder, they expand. Once expanded enough, the sleeve slides out. Reverse to install.

Ingenuity at it's finest fellas .. When it comes to Hondas and reliability then look no further than our mate Ian Coates (from Yorkshire) and his Africa twin who spent 14 years travelling the world. His wife was a little perturbed as she thought he was only going on a 4 month trip. Have a great time at Busco.. which reminds me, I need to get some French's for my beanie weanie meanies , it's a tradition now ;)

I call it a win. There was no WAY this should have ran let alone turn over. New pistons, rings and the correct carb set up, this thing would purr like a kitten. Good job guys!

That is one of the bikes I wanted as a younger person. I did get a Honda 350 2 cylinders. Later in life I started looking for a Honda 305 dream. I finally got a 305 dream but I would love to find a 350 4.

My great grandmother taught me to make head gaskets out of brown grocery bags(two layers) and shellac! Paint on the shellac on all surfaces and between the layers of paper. Torque it down, let it cure and they never leaked!

Here's a quick piece of info. For something like this, there's a better penetrating oil than PB Blaster. It's called Free All and while it's a little more pricey than PB Blaster, it doesn't take a huge amount and the stuff just goes to town. I'm probably nuts for saying this, but I've always had better results with Free All than PB Blaster. Otherwise it's good content and it shows how things can get when they're not stored correctly....

You guys should watch the videos I did on my son's 1973 Honda CB 350 Four. It’s such an awesome bike. I just took it out after working on it for a year and a half. We got it for a steal at 1500 bucks and I rode it home. His is the deep red color. I really like the green too!

My first bike was the 350 twin with both muffler cut off at the foot pegs and knobby tires worn down to just suggestions of knobs. I used to power slide it around the wet clover fields near home. Louder then most of the Harleys of the time, as it had no mufflers.

One of my old bosses had 2 of those , a his and hers for his wife and him . I tryed for a long time to buy them from him because they sat down in the lower partof the warehouse that housed a boat a 64 suicide door Convertible Lincoln and those two bikes on a 3 rail m.c. trailer . He never would sell um , but every time i was around them i took time to kick them over and they were still free . Very cool bikes !!

If you take a short length of copper tubing and flatten one end, it'll make a nice, soft little scraper for aluminum. File a chisel edge if desired.
