@@devonyoumans Hey! Holy guacamole! I am SO sorry for the delay in my response! Everything that you can haha! I'm super interested!! 💕 Thank you so much! I am so sorry again!
AH thank you guys for all of the positive feedback on this video!! I’m blown away! If you have any specific questions for me about usc please feel free to message me on insta @dev_meets_world 😊
Hi Devon, I graduated from there in the early 90's (College of Mass Communications and Journalism) and my daughter recently got accepted. This video is wonderfully honest and brought back memories of those stupid trains!!! LOL. But seriously, I loved my time there and appreciate the candor. We have a visit there in 2 weeks. Sports are so much better now than when I attended. Go Cocks!
Devon Nicole awww thanks this is all such confirmation😂😅and I know my mom is getting tired of me talking about it after this video! One question I have is ..Was there only white people in your experience ? It would be nice to see our kind every now and then.
I stumbled across your channel with a different video and then saw this. I'm an alumni and this made me miss the campus so much. Seeing people play frisbee in the horseshoe and all the hidden gardens. Had so many fond memories and I also agree with most of the cons. I had a pretty good advisor all 4 years that supported me, so I was fortunate and my teachers were some of the best. Most of my close friends are from uni. The study abroad office helped me out a lot too when I decided to study kinda last minute in Korea for the summer and now I've been over here almost 7 years. I'm glad to see you have had some good times. Those trains though, I'll never miss those haha
Yeah and I'm still here, now over 8 years. There's been a few times that I almost left but it would have been when things weren't so good. Honestly didn't expect to be here so long. I did move around in the country. I almost left last year. There's always pros and cons of staying vs leaving. I've hit rock bottom a couple times but always got back up stronger. So I moved the end of last year and found a good job in a lovely place. I enjoy teaching and seeing people learn that's probably what keeps me the most and I'm used to Korea now so I can do what I need to do pretty easily most of the time. And honestly going back home didn't seem too appealing over the past couple of years.
omg i attending USC Sumter, I have a few questions if you dont mind.... 1. How was your grades ( like did you have a high GPA)? 2. How many credits did you have before transferring? 3. did you participate in the branch program?
Thanks a lot for making this. I just finished my sophomore year in high school and U of SC is likely my top choice at the moment. A lot of people find it kind of bizarre that I've had an interest in it considering where I live (I'm from Chicago and still live near there). Because of my hopeful career, I'd likely need to go somewhere in the Carolinas. I was mainly looking at smaller schools but because of better opportunities I've looked at U of SC and love what I see and plan to visit this summer. Despite this, the two biggest concerns of mine (both of which you addressed) is the large class sizes and the drinking issues. I know I still have two years ahead of me before college and I have many possible places to go, but do you have any individual advice for dealing with those two things? Any advice would be appreciated since I take my college search really seriously even at my current age. Thank you!
ayy im from northern IL and I'm about to commit here! I was in the same boat as you (somewhere in the Carolinas). When I went to visit it was such a nice campus and it's not a big campus, but definitely not small.
This might be an odd thing to say but you have a very soothing voice and I really like the way your voice sounds. Sorry if that’s odd lol but I think making UA-cam videos is a perfect outlet for you because you have a great voice and cadence to the way you talk
I just started watching your channel, love it. I'm from Virginia and my dads family is in SC I loved UofSC. BUT that heat is something serious 👀 especially that August humidity. Are you from SC? If not have you adjusted well?
Hi! I’m going to uofsc just for my fall semester as apart of an exchange program & I was wondering where exactly you lived your junior year? I’m trying to look for places on campus with 6 month leases!
i lived in 650 lincoln! i know all on campus housing will allow you to live there for just the duration of the semester though so id call USC housing and ask them if they have any spots available in 650 or other spots on campus! 650 and park place are definitely the nicest
My son just got accepted and someone told him DO NOT live in South Tower. I think traditional style dorms are better for meeting other students . What are some of the other top dorms for freshman
I lived in south tower and LOVED it. I would say any traditional dorms are the best for meeting people. I’m still friends with a majority of the people from my hall and that was 4 years ago. Other dorms that may not be the nicest but the atmosphere is great are Columbia hall, and McBride (all boys). But ones that are very nice are Patterson, 650, east quad and park place. Personally, I would live in a traditional place like south tower for the first year and then venture off into a nicer apartment after freshman year. It’s so easy to hide out in your room in the quads and 650 if you don’t know people so I loved being in a room with someone and south towers open door policy!!!
Thanks for your response Devon. My sons friend is a freshman and lives in McBride and although its not the nicest dorm , I heard he likes it for the reasons you said. I think my son would be better in a traditional dorm for the reasons you said. I will definitely give him the advice. We will be coming in Feb for Admitted student day so maybe we will get to see some dorms as they didnt take us into any when we were down for a visit this summer. Your videos have been great. I am amazed at all the videos and the talent on You Tube. Sure is different when I went to school Where did you study abroad? my son is interested and I studied in London when i was in college so its such a great experience. DId you just graduate? if so good luck Thanks again
Im so glad i could help! And I studied abroad in Newcastle, Australia. I was the best experience and I got instate tuition while I was abroad so it wasnt too expensive at all. And yes im from NOVA!!
I will be studying aboard at USC and after watching your video, I am wondering what is the attendance policy for class ? ( Can I skip some class so I can visit other parts of the US ? Will I fail the class if I skip class ? ) And also what student residence do you recommend for international student ?
Attendance is probably 10-15% of your grade! Very different to other places where attendance doesn’t matter and everything is online. But I’m sure that if you speak with your teachers and let them know what’s up they will make some kind of exception!
Hey can anyone help me out? I have to choose between Georgia Southern and USC but I am having a hard time choosing as they are both really good schools. I’m going to major in biology and I am interested in Veterinary work, Medical work, or Forensics.
hii so i heard u mention the drinking culture for freshman year, but was it still very present in sophomore/junior/senior year?? or did it calm down a little
I want to go to UofSC so bad!! I’ve been looking for videos for so long and I haven’t found much. Is there any way you could make videos on how the football games are, the dorms and making friends etc. (if you haven’t already!!) I’m going to binge watch your videos hahahahaha
aw yay thank you so much! and yes of course i think im going to do a freshman advice video and touch on all of that stuff and once the fall comes im gonna do gameday vlogs that will show you what its like (:
Charlotte Copp in my opinion they’re not super isolated from other students, you still have tons of opportunities to make friends, especially if you get involved with clubs and organizations on campus! i think if anything the honors college has a sense of community within itself
Is safety an issue at USC? I'm starting graduate school in fall and being an international student I'm trying to decide what to do!!! Pls I'm freaking out
I wouldn’t say that it is an issue but like any city you have to be cautious and smart! Not going out at night alone, being aware of your surroundings etc. there have been issues in the past but those were a few isolated situations so again if you are being smart and cautious you will be good!
if you are a student there are two gyms, strom and blatt!! strom is pretty big. and i would rate it 10/10 lol i loved it and if you are looking for a big spirited school i would consider usc!!
Devon Nicole how is the food and is the spirit good. Because I already live in a boring state I don’t want to transfer to another one😂and are the teachers willing to help?and what is there to do on a daily basic?

I would say that there are a lot of black people at usc but because of what I was involved in most of my friends from usc are white
Devon Nicole okay that’s fine because I can get along with everyone but I definitely want a balance.

Hi! I was jut wondering if freshman students are allowed to have cars on campus at U of SC? I know for some colleges it’s not allowed.
You are allowed to have a car!
Is the honors college at USC weird? Like do they socialize with people and still get a normal college experience or are they more isolated?
Charlotte Copp in my opinion they’re not super isolated from other students, you still have tons of opportunities to make friends, especially if you get involved with clubs and organizations on campus! i think if anything the honors college has a sense of community within itself
