It's time to teardown the long time forgotten and broken down Casio SA-47 Mini Keyboard 🎹.
It's my daughter's little piano. It worked great until her little sister started to pull out the keys and jump on it 🙂

Hi, sound only comes out when I push down on the volume slider. Any ideas what the issue could be? i.e. should I bother with contact cleaner or go straight to checking the connections inside?

My this same casio is not working when putting new batteries 😒

Does it still power from the mains? If so its likely you have dirty battery contacts. Cleaning these will often be all you need to do. If it's not that it could be a loose wire. If it doesn't power from the mains it could be a blown capacitor.
