I have a 04 limited with OEM 5-star 20 inch chrome rims and Nokia low rolling resistance tires and and I'm still staying steady around 13 miles per gallon with the V10. I think swapping over to the rim and tire package got me better gas mileage. I don't have spacers. I actually dented in the inside of the rear fenders to make space. The tires almost touched before. And in the front they only rub on the leaf spring when it's fully maxed out. All in all I love the new ride height, they've been a good purchase and make the truck look sharp!
I have always used aluminum spacers on my trucks. The biggest concern is the expansion coefficient and the holding force of the lugs. I have never had a problem. I don’t do extreme towing with the vehicles I’ve put them on. I’ve had them on my ‘97 suburban with a 6” lift, 35x12.5x15” tires, and deep dish wheels for years with no problem. I’ve had more problems with power steering pumps!
Just bought a set of 2018 rims tires for my 2000 F350. Ordered the hub centric spacers from Titan Wheels. Hoping I don't have to mill the entire inner rear spacers down to fit over the axle; however Rep said I would likey have to get a mm milled down to fit over the hub flange lip.
Like I stated in video. Some axles they slide right over. Some you have to pull the axle put it on and put axle back on. And some (like mine) you have to have spacers cut on a lathe to get to fit. Take spacers and your vehicle machine shop pull a wheel to get them to measure axle hub so the spacer will be an exact fit. You want a tight fit so the axle supports the centric ring because the lugs only hold the wheel on, the centric ring supports the vehicle's weight. Thanks for the comment and good luck.
Hot tires is an understatment. My 2000 V10 on a hot day going slow off pavement makes them untouchable. There is no sticker on the 1st year Excusion, not that anyone reads stickers. Gloves.

Will 18" rims work without using spacers ? After all these years, I was just thinking my Excursion needed 18's, but I don't want them rubbing at max steering either way. Thanks
@@bradsilwood5845 That is what got me. The different model years have different offsets. I used 2014 rims on my 2000 Excursion and needed 2" offsets. The wheel clearances were good with this upgrade.
@@MrHermangv I also added a dual steering stabilizer and swapped to a Redhead steering gear. This is best it has ever handled. The next thing will be going to the F-250 springs to get less body roll.
I really want a 7.3L PSD or 6.8L V10 Ford Excursion,but it's hard for me to find some of them since they only are for 2000-2005,but Ford actually discontinued them in 2006 because production was still going for them in Mexico only.I would probably put a 4 inch Procomp lift kit on it,and use 37×12.50 Michelins with 16.5 rims on them if I could.It's better having a 4×4 Excursion since they have Dana 50 front axles and the NV-273 transfer case.It would be cool to see a 2V 5.4L in a Ford Excursion,those seem to be very rare.
With all that you said i kinda agree. I have a 250 with a v10 and im happy with it. As for the 5.4 I had on in my expedition. It was great dont get me wrong......more than enough power for what it was used for and a great all around V8.

I knew it wasn't safe and was waiting for the money to get different rims. Luckily when one broke, it happened in a parking lot and not the highway...
Great video. What's the purpose of the centric ring on the rear adapter? Doesn't the OEM rim rest on the hub in the absence of an adapter? I see companies selling rear excursion adapters without the lip. I'm confused, lip or no lip on the rear adapter?
In the video I talk about why I had to cut the centric ring down, go to the 12 minute mark and watch it for a few minutes you'll understand and see it'll answer your question. But Basically it's Because the hub varies in dimension from vehicle to vehicle. Rims do center on the hub but when you add a 2 inch spacer. Three rim cam no longer can center itself on the hub. @@sandman5088 yes the suspension on the 99 to 03 are narrower which need the 2 inch spacers. 2004 to present day ford changed the suspension to give a better ride with coilover springs in the front and widening the axle. 2004 to present day don't need the spacers. No I don't have the measurement. I drove my Excursion to my machinist and let him measure the hub. So he could cut it for an exact fit. I took the wheel off and test fit each one after he cut them. In the video my friend who is a machinist measured the hub on the axle and cut the spacer to the exact measurement. Yes he took off about half the thickness of the centric ring. You want it snug when you slide it on, so the hub supports the centric ring. I hope this helps and thanks for the question.

What app do you use for the remote viewfinder and camera control? All that I've tried don't work and I'm not comfortable paying for the apps for them to not work
In Samsung shop, go to search apps. Look for "Phone Camera Remote Circle" Leonid Tsarev Version 1.6.2 I bought it and it's the only one I found that works pretty good. Once you own the app it'll tell you, you have to install the app in your watch and the other part of the app in your phone. So basically two different apps are needed that work together. All the spacers are lug centric & hub centric(sounds stupid but they are) the rims are hub centric and that's why the spacers have to have centric rings. Vehicles that are lugs centric are light duty because the lugs center the rims and carry the weight. Vehicles that are hub centric carry the weight of the vehicle on the hubs and not the lugs. The lug only hold the wheels on. I hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the advise. But if you are talking about the video where I'm installing a spacer on the rear. The rear leaf springs have helper springs on the bottom with a rubber snubber on the front of that helper spring. I'm currently working on a video for changing the leaf springs though, coming out in the near future. Thanks for the comment.

Soulja Slim it's an old 1940s snap-on torqometer torque wrench. My brother in law borrowed my new one and I wasn't going to drive to his house to get it for this video. Yes if you are using the newer style rims. The rim size doesn't matter, what matters is what year truck the rims comes from. . The bank spacing is different on the newer trucks 2005 and up. I hope this helps. Thanks for the question.
@@SunyenChiu are the rims you want to use a factory Ford Rim? If they are search google images to identify the rim type you have and year vehicle they are for. If you can't identify them, then you will have to measure the rim backspacing and compare the rims to the rims for your 2001.
That's cool. I had many benefits that made me happy switching, bigger footprint on the road, taller ride height over stock rims, riding on 20s with least money spent, nice michelins over my worn out tires, better ride ( it no longer follows the seams in the road like the old tires), gold inset in the rims matched the gold in my Excursion's two tone paint and there's probably more I can't think of right now. Truck looks way better. I've been running same type of spacers for years on my 03 with 07 rims. I recommend Doing 05 07 headlight change .

Got a 05 excursion and found some 20" f250 wheel off a 2014 don't know if I should do all around 2in spacers
I think it was 2004 that got a new suspension so 2004 to 2020 you don't need spacers. The axles are wider.

These don't have electronic speedos? If it does you could just use a recalibration tool. I've got one for my 99 Jeep Wrangler
