  • Interview with Tarja, after nightwish split up, this is not the press conference.
    Translation by Orion.
"Q: How about from now on, are you gonna stay a classical singer or are you gonna try singing in a rock band again? Is there something about it that would make you wanna keep doing it?
A: Yyyyyeahhh...Of course I'm gonna still do classical concerts in a future, and I hope I can develope myself in it, take lessons and make the basics better that I had before Nightwish. I have progress during Nightwish too, and I will in a future as well. And the rock-thing I'm not gonna forget either, and the future plans of me as a solo artist, and I don't wanna forget the certain heavy metal basis that I got in 9 years career in Nightwish. It has given so many new elements to me, and I'm gonna use them in future. It's not that I'm gonna make a heavy metal album, but some elements from here and there. Put them together with my classical voice, education and person. I think that's gonna be the thing that people hear from me.
Q: Is it impossible thought that you would join some band?
A: Now that you're asking....I've never sacrificed a thought for jumping into some band that already exists, as a frontwoman. That's pretty strange thought to me. I feel more like I wanna stand on my own two feet from now on and make music with people...But jumping into some band doesn't feel like me at all.
Q: If we think about Nightwish's music from the technical and interpretational point of wiew. What do you think, how difficult songs they are to sing? Can some new singer sing them just like that?
A: For me it took many years to learn to sing Nightwish's music. The learning process came to the climax with the last album. It took so many years to learn to sing those songs, not because Tuomas would've intentionaly compose difficult songs for me to sing, but because my way of using my voice is so very different from normal rock singing. And ambitus in a music is bigger and wider than rock singers usually use. So I think some sort of basis are needed, but on the other hand I believe that the band has no intetion to continue with Tarja-clone to jump into my shoes. And that can be very good and positive thing, but of course the spirit in those songs will change if the singer is not trained.
Q: Judging by the album charts, the new collection [Highest Hopes] wasn't as succesfull in the Finnish charts as the previous Once album. So what do you think, was the band going down?
A: Well personally I can't agree with that. Collection is of course a collection of the band's career, possibly the best songs from each album. And many fans already had all of our albums and this collection was kinda extra bonus, and I don't believe that it would be a first symptom of band becoming less famous, because I really believed that the next album would've been the huge success. I really believed that, and I talked about it in public that it's gonna be the biggest thing for Nightwish. That's what I expected and that's what I was ready for. And the fact is that ht ealbum Once got attention in countries that didn't know Nightwish before. But let's see how it goes and how this change will affect. It'll be like..."

"Cultural differences combined with greed, opportunism and love is a dangerous combination". Cultural differences... if he wanted to criticize Marcelo, he should not attack by his country of origin. In this sentence, Tuomas showed how he is: a fucking racist. It is so typical in Finland to hear them insult us the foreigners and say they are always better than other nationalities. It is just so often, that Tuomas sentence just sounded familiar.
That was not the correct way to criticize Marcelo/Tarja.
Tarja, you are a flower, and the best thing was to not be anymore with this kind of person.

It's so funny to me how Tarja's departure with the band was because they believed she was too fixated on money and was too self-absorbed. Guess what? MONEY is what keeps the band going, not your wanna-be "soul-bound" bullshit, nor is it your fans who won't pay you a dime to listen to your content. It's simply MONEY. Nothing else affects that. It makes 0 difference how passionate you are about music, how skillful you are at music, or how many fans you have. At the end of the day it comes down to a paycheck just like any other job. That's what allows you to live your life.
Tarja treats something that's a business LIKE a business, and she's right to do so. She's obviously passionate about it, otherwise she wouldn't do it. She's a goddess when it comes to her vocal talent and she in EVERY way should not be paid less than what she deserves for what she does.
They even mentioned the fact that she felt 'irreplaceable'. Guess what, she is irreplaceable. Look what happened to Nightwish after she left. It went to shit and no one cares about them anymore. The only people, myself included, that still listen to them are because they feel OBLIGATED as a once-fan to do so. I in no way get the same feel from the band as I did when Tarja was around.
Guitarists, drummers, whatever else, all replaceable. Vocalists? More often than not, no, especially when you have someone like Tarja front-lining your band. Hell, another example is Three Days Grace. Just recently Adam left and now everybody is in an absolute frenzy about how terrible their new content sounds without him. It's the exact same scenario as this. You can't replace vocalists like them who have some of the most unique talent out there. Sounds like that ARE simply irreplaceable.
I'd be in EVERY way honored to play music by Tarja's side, whether I was her best friend through it all or not. If she wants to do her own thing in life and make money from her passion, so be it. Music isn't always about being buddy-buddy through it all. It's about going out, enjoying the shows, and making money. They threw away one of the most talented vocalists out there simply because they under-appreciated the absolute fuck out of her, and as a result it killed their band. Music is a business, it's time to start treating it like one, retards. Never going to respect that band again. Meanwhile, I'll keep enjoying all of Tarja's classic content that simply can't be replicated like Nightwish's songs (which there are 50 bands out there that I know by name that sound exactly like them and their new content..).

Who cares? She's the focal point of a band. Not just as a vocalist, but as a unique artist in general. You make music revolving around TARJA and her voice. Any other band member can be replaced, but a unique vocal talent such as hers cannot.
Music's a business. When one particularly special artist isn't being recognized the way she deserves, why would she settle for less just to appease people? That makes no sense.

Because it's on a video about it? LOL. I'm giving my take on it, because I believe what the band did was idiotic just because she didn't want to settle for less than what she deserved.

This is NOT true. The money-discussion, for instance, came up when Nightwish were touring in America. They were paid little, they had no dressing room for changing clothes, they did not even had an own toilette. She discussed these circumstances with the band and they agreed to ask for better conditions. Weeks later Tarja red in the Internet (!!!), that Nightwish were selling tickets for the next America Tour -> with exactly the same fucked up conditions! As a result she cancelled the whole thing and she did right to do so. If you do an excellent job (and they did), you deserve a certain respect and an appropriate payment. That is just it and this has absolutely nothing to do with greed.

so he kicked her in spite of the knowledge that she would have nightwish anyway. the question now is: what sense does it have to kick somebody if the person is going to leave the band anyway? I think the answer is his pride and anger, he wanted to show her who got the balls, wanted to hurt her. And such a person is called bandleader....he is a pityfully bastard in my eyes.

This story of failed romance reminds me of Romeo & Juliet. Tuomas & Tarja made a perfect couple but they were doomed in the very beginning. The sins of beauty, as witnessed many times before, are incompatible with wisdom, and only death brings the eternal peace.
    Bye bye beautiful.

Tarja is direct and sincere about what she's saying in interviews. I'm glad that she is still continuing to make incredible music, because leaving an angel's wings clipped is much too sad... like turning a goddess into a mortal. I like Tarja.... as much as I loved and continue to love Nightwish. Even with Anette as the new vocalist. Honestly though I get seriously mad when I see Anette do covers of Tarja's already remarkable songs. XD

Floor Jansen puts both Tarja AND Anette to shame and really brings Tuomas's songs to life and realizes their full potential with her superior voice and commanding stage presence. If only Floor had been the lead female singer from the start, one can only imagine how much more successful Nightwish would be today.

wow thats the most idiotic thing to say obviously that makes you an idiot. floor is absolutely amazing and her energy and voice is outstanding and she is perfect for nightwish, yet tarja's voice is beyond majestic tho floor is great she cant match tarjas superior style voice or just feeling.
