so the first is the box pleats and then you have the knife pleats

I'm in a fashion school currently and we were taught how to draft a yoke pleated skirt yesterday. We were also given as an assignment to produce a skirt from our fabric. Yup! I'm a fashion student too. They do complicate things at times. The most frustrating part for me is the use of existing pattern blocks for almost everything, which means I need to learn how to use my own measurements to create something new. UA-cam is really helping.

Out of 3/4 videos I’ve watched your the only person who told us to mark the zip allowance first and then mark pleats away from that….which ofc I didn’t do because I’m seeing this late and it was a problem for me later on 🥴❤️🔥

Looking at every time she creates a fold, for every 2 inches of fabric you can see on the right side/outside of the waist of the skirt, there is 4 inches of fabric folded behind it on the wrong side/inside.

Very easy to understand. If we only want pleats in the front, we cut the fabric into 2 pieces, correct? Still allowing for the zip and a side seam allowance?

Example. I'm waist 32 how many yards or inches of material do I need to cut out.

For example now, I’m working with a round waist of 35 multiplied by 3+4=105 how do I measure this on the fabric please
Just as you have calculated. You fabric will be 105 inches wide

Wow 😇u guys keep telling Dem wen pleating u can choose how wide ur pleat should be...and for the box pleat u used 4inch and then the knife pleate 2inch ...sorry o what if for the box pleat I don't use 4inch as the distance ... would I still mutiply my waist by 3inch

Hello vivi, thanks for the tutorial, was elpful.
Meanwhile i tried it out using 3ydd of crepe for the the box pleat of waist 35inches, but i ddnt add any allow, thinking the 3yds shud be enuf, so i took out 1.5" each for d zipper allow on both sides and maning the box pleat to be 4" wide, after measuring? I had 34 instead of 35 ", what do you think went wrong, was it becos i ddnt add any allowance or the 4" wideness was too much, pls reply asap, tnks ...
it the Fact you didn't leave out your Zip allowance and Sewing allowance,

I just did the knife pleat but I noticed that the waist circumference is 36 excluding the zipper allowance and my waist circumference is 32....
Should I adjust/ cut off the excess it to 32 ?
Again,the band u said it's waist circumference +5 ,mine will be 37....
After attaching the belt, meaning I will cut off the excess right???
