I only discovered this band yesterday, at the funeral service, for my dear friend Martin, who died suddenley, one of his favourite band's.r.i.p.brother.💔😢.
I fell completely in love with this song when my husband rented Snow Cake. I am the mother of a child with autism and this song has messages for me. The ones that only my son and I can hear. Thank you for posting this.
I loved this song when I first heard it in the Alan Rickman (big fan!) film 'Snow Cake' - a fabulous film (also starring Sigourney Weaver) about autism - the song was perfect for it and I find it quite haunting. :-)
It's sad that all those lame, talentless pop-singers get famous and rich while there are rather unknown bands like this one out there having to fight for recognition. Love it and will see them on southside festival.
Exactly! This is very true! Unfortunately, the music industry fails to acknowledge real talent (as they're just interested in making money with manufactured music)
The Cure brought me here. This song is definitely some sort of response, or at least reference to, one of their most beautiful songs from their 1989 album Disintegration - 'The Same Deep Water As You'. "Drench your heart in water / Cleanse your Soul of the stain /.../ Soon we shall be together."
Fell asleep to this last night on repeat after watching The A Word. What a great little actor Max Vento is. And a strangely addictive singing voice too!
I was watching The A Word final episode last night, and little Joe was singing this song. I loved it, even though it was only on for a minute. There's been some great music in that series. For those who haven't a clue what I'm talking about, it's a UK drama about a young boy diagnosed with autism and he is obsessed with music from 80's 90's and 00,s.
Agree, it's a great series, and this song is used so appropriately. The lyrics fit the situation well, it's a wonderful metaphor for the dilemma between (bad) thoughts/expectations and love. It is a drama about what the effect of an autistic child on an entire family, including the childs school can be. What I love about the series is it emphasizes autism isn't a disease but an alternative way of 'being', the boy manages to have positive effects as well with the love that surrounds him as an example. He is evoking love, his unusual way of communicating forces you to accept the uncommon. If Joe was my child, I'd do anything for him.
Après avoir regarder ce magnifique film: SNOW CAKE..j'ai fait la découverte de cette magnifique musique...MERMAIDS est également un très beau moment d'écoute...Merci pour ce beau moment de partage...
i watched a series called "From There to Here" this was played at the end where Philip Glenister, the lead, walked away and the screen faded to black which I thought was such a great atmospheric fitting ending to very good series.
We are a Manchester band called MANDRAKE. Must say that this is one of the best songs I've heard in the last ten years. We met these guys @ Airtight Studio last year when we were recording our debut album, ''Glory Days''. Been to a few of their gigs sonce. Great band. Nice dudes. From Oscar Novak @ MANDRAKEMANCHESTER
Swim out to the ocean Drown your thought out at sea And dip your hands in the water The same deep water as me You've been watching for cloudbursts I've been praying for rain Drench your soul in the water Cleanse your heart of the stain Cleanse your heart of the stain The river of love It flows deep through the night It rolls you in with the waves It drags you out with the tides You've been watching for cloudbursts You've been praying for rain Drench your soul in the water Cleanse your heart of the stain Cleanse your heart of the stain Swim out to the ocean And drown our thoughts out at sea And dipped your hands in the water The same deep water as me
Starting from 2:16 there is an instrumental piece that I’ve heard in some other song. Maybe some of the artists used it. Could you possibly help, do you hear it too?
The Cure's song is completely different song and it isn't a cover, it's theirs , written by Robert James Smith and it is called "The Same Deep Water As You" not " The Same Deep Water As me" :)
Account deletion sucks ,i did see a the the vid i uploaded couldnt be played in germany heh now i cant eaven see that anymore frgn youtube right ?! Btw check im a believer ;)
Danged, I think you are right. Distain, that is. It fits the lyrics. Every transcription I found on the Net has this wrong. Verb: distain To tinge with a different colour from the natural or proper one; to stain; to discolour; to sully; to tarnish; to defile; - used chiefly in poetry

Enjoy the music for yourself and your friend. 🕊️💛🕊️
This is not music : this is MAGIC 💖💖💖💫💫💫💫✨✨✨
A massively underrated song. One of those songs that stays with you forever.
Never heard this before until it was played in the last episode of the A word, now I can't get it out of my head, it is so hauntingly beautiful.
From another great Manchester band
I heard this song at the end of The A Word and it instantly touched my soul..Beautiful........
This incredible beautiful song sounds like a unique and profound prayer.
PS. Most under rated band in the country! They deserve to be massive!!
I think they stopped making records a few years ago
What a great song to end "The A Word" with. A hugely emotional song to match the show. Truly amazing :)
kirkthorpe2000 I had tear in my eye. I’m 2 years late but oh well
Just watched it myself....Ahhhh....Loved it.

That’s so interesting, I got this song from the show ‘The A Word’ which is about a family finding out their son has autism. It’s such a good show.

This song is heart-stoppingly beautiful. Gives me chills every time I listen to it.

True true
true
Swim out to the ocean
Drown your thought out at sea
And dip your hands in the water
The same deep water as me
You've been watching for cloudbursts
I've been praying for rain
Drench your soul in the water
Cleanse your heart of the stain
Cleanse your heart of the stain
The river of love
It flows deep through the night
It rolls you in with the waves
It drags you out with the tides
You've been watching for cloudbursts
You've been praying for rain
Drench your soul in the water
Cleanse your heart of the stain
Cleanse your heart of the stain
Swim out to the ocean
And drown our thoughts out at sea
And dipped your hands in the water
The same deep water as me
You've got to move it to prove it...
Reminds me of a holiday in Italy

Who the fuck disliked this?
Why do you care?
Luann Rouff Why do you care that I care?
Ha! Touché!
How you gonna use “same deep water” and “praying for rain” as lyrics, and not act like the ideas are stolen from the cure
