✝️ Friday -📖 2 Samuel 19-21✨ Summary: In Chapter 19 King David mourns Absalom's death despite his betrayal. Joab confronts David for his grief and urges him to lead the people. The tribes reconcile and David returns to Jerusalem. Shimei, who cursed David earlier,apologizes but is spared for now.
In Chapter 20, Sheba, the son of a Benjaminite, stirs rebellion against David. Amasa, appointed military leader by David,is outsmarted and killed by Joab. Joab pursues Sheba who takes refuge in a city. A wise woman convinces the city leaders to behead Sheba, ending the rebellion.
In Chapter 21, a famine strikes Israel, believed to be punishment for Saul's actions. David seeks divine guidance and is told to appease the Gibeonites, whom Saul had wronged. The Gibeonites demand seven of Saul's descendants be handed over. David agrees, and the famine ends.
There are further battles with the Philistines, including one where David is almost killed but is saved by his men. The chapter concludes with a list of other Philistine warriors slain by David's warriors.
