since the change to limited print run I have the impression that the secret lairs are getting worse and worse in financial terms
My guess is that they are shifting secret lair value reprints to the subset slots in standard releases. They swapped those for low value singles with ltd edition "skins" just like live service games.
The value of secret lairs have been bad for at least 2 years now. If they print to demand, they could tank any valuable reprint to the ground so WoTC has been careful with its card selection and it reduced fomo quite a bit... But I guess secret lair were not as succesful which is why they come back to limited print run to drive fomo a bit more and hopefully overtime scarcity would drive the prices up regardless of the card printed. Will see how it turns out but at least I can feel good skipping all secret lair for now

Really appreciate you guys getting this out before the drop. Was going into it anticipating to buy the full bundle but the ROI just isn't there. Probably will still pick up the DaVinci and AC drops because I love the art style and I've been wanting to build Najeela and own a Kelsien deck already.

I really don’t get the hype for Miku… I went and research to figure out what it was, But I just don’t get it or it’s Appeal. Maybe because I don’t live with my parents anymore?
I already committed to getting all the Hatsune Miku secret lairs, and I plan to put a lot of the cards in a nice Universes Beyond only EDH deck. So... absolutely want this one despite the card value.

I got a foil bundle, virtuoso bundle in foil, and the DaVinci non foil as a single. My sister wanted the DaVinci/assassin's creed sets, and I wanted the coat of arms, so.. the mini bundle just made sense. And the nonfoil DaVinci was because I wanted it in both foil, and nonfoil.... I'm a Whale for the lairs! XD but I am not buying the actual sets these days. Singles are the way.
Da Vinci’s Designs in non-foil for me. Only one I picked up. Going to pick up two single cards from the Miku lair and two more singles from the other Assassins Creed when they go on the secondary market.
Several of the prices on these lairs on the spreadsheet were wrong. All the non-foils were $29.99 and all the Foil were $39.99. A few were incorrectly listed higher on the spreadsheet for some reason.
Calling it now...that Miku Sol Ring in foil is gonna be an $80 card on it's own. Got myself a copy to keep and one to flip to make em free

Morning! Enjoyed watching the vid. I haven’t purchased any secret lair boxes just a few singles here and there. I liked seeing you guys all hype about them though. I’m debating splitting a box of beyond boosters of AC with my cousin- he loves the game and is just getting into Mtg. Don’t know if I can bring myself to do it though 😖
Ehh, I'm fine with The Lost Caverns of Ixalan full art for Coat of Arms. Snagged the Davinci Designs non-foil though. NON-FOIL though, foil seems stupid for ancient blue prints....

Not a wolf is a book by Dan Sheehan. The same Dan Sheehan who used to do the podcast comandersphere with Rachel weeks and who also wrote the squee short lore story a few years back. He now has a podcast called piebreak, which he started after Rachel left for command zone

I think Miku is relatively safe, she's a very recognizable IP and there's a Sol Ring in there. I wouldn't be surprised if Sol Ring gets close to the price of the bundle itself.

I did! I enjoy you secret lair coverage. As a kind of new player last year(tried playing as a kid in the late 90s but it didn't hook me because of the art)
This makes it pleasant for me to get old staples without disliking the look of the card and sometimes catching me a deal.

And I was right. Nothing really worth it. It has been the case for a long time. Unless you buy these for the art there's no value there.
Gonna try and grab the Miku foils in Jpn and English to try and flip the whole set later because I'm a part of the problem.
Definitely buying the Dan Sheehan wolf lair for myself though.

@@JakeandJoelareMagic both tbh. I really liked the book and Dan's magic podcast (Pie Break, formerly the Commander Sphere with both him and Rachel Weeks before she moved to the Command Zone). Plus I've always been interested in making a Werewolf deck and this one is basically a starter kit for one so it'll be great.
I just get the whole bundle for pack opening videos.

Thank you for this insight. For me the draw to a secret lair of a the value in reprints. If it is not there (which hasn’t been there for many of the latests SL) I won’t buy.

Not a sponsored video and rarely are they filled with value out the gate anymore. Even rarer that the value of an individual lair doesn't go UP on the secondary market, sometimes regardless of inherent value.
Damn, the art is mostly what puts me off from buying most of the Secret Lairs. Darkness looks ugly as hell. But maybe I am in minority. And F Hatsune Miku. WotC are so desperate for cash grab, that is the vibe I get from it. What next? UwU waifu set?
I have absolutely 0 interest in Hatsune Miku, INSTA-fucking scooped the EN foil when these went live.
That being said, I REALLY want Prints of Darkness, and the Wolf one, both are low stock and I don't get paid til Tuesday... Big oof.
