Soooooooo....How far did you get?
I completed all the levels until I reached level 9 and I also completed the first parts of lvl 10
can we say that it is kind of defletction in some levels
I'm at Level 3 rn and I got a question: When the rook takes the queen, you played knight to e7, king moves and rook takes rook checkmate, but wouldn't rook takes f8 right away be a faster checkmate?
On level 3 I think you can just take the rook for checkmate instead of checking with the knight and then taking the rook
ikr
I agree. It´s after 1. Qd5+ Rxd5 that instead of 2. Ne7+ Kd8 3. Rxf8# we see that immediately playing 2. Rxf8# is faster and more clinical. But sure it´s funny to toy with the king before killing it. ;)
@@renehenriksen1735instructive but I don't think these come up in ky games
Agree 100%
Yes
I don’t wanna be an NPC commenter but this is legit one of my favourite series, not only on chess but across a lot of things all together!
your one of my fav teacher
It's you're
Both of you have awful grammar
Level 3, when showing on the real board, you missed the rook on f1, if qxq and nf2 fork there is a rook sac, rxf2. Also there is no need for knight check, rxf8 is simply mate
These tactics are very helpful when I'm playing, thanks for the extra practice!!
I love these, please make more series like this one
Nice video, Zach! I found ALL of the problems. The last one I was very proud of. As a 1400 myself I am very happy to have found all of these tactics(missed level 4 but found the others)
HOW
Simply taking with the rook will also lead to checkmate in the 800 smthn elo rank puzzle as the king cannot take the rook and the other rook will be forced to take our rook which leads to queen d5 mate
I love this series, keep it up!
Uh, there was rf8# as well, right? instead of delaying it one move.
Yes,on 7:27 you can also play Rxf8#
This will be interesting
On level 3 I play
Rxf8+, Rxf8 only move
Followed by Qd5 and checkmate is on going.
Another is when you play
Qf5, Rxf5
Instead of Ne7 you should play Rxf8 mate in an instant.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Just review again. Btw sorry for my bad English.
This video is helpful thanks bro
Love the shirt you're wearing Zach, this video is really interesting and in depth. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for giving your valuable time chess nerd and teaching me chess from 0 to 2000
If I completed all 10 puzzles successfully, I would be having my own instructional chess channel!
in problem 3 wasent Qd5 and then Rf8 also chek mate
For the third puzzle isn't this just a mate in two if the black rook takes (and not mate in three as you explained in the video?)
1. Qd5+ Rxd5??
2. Rxf8#
is better than
1.Qd5+ Rxd5??
2. Ne7+?? Kh8
3. Rxf8#
Of course Qe6 is better for black (as it changes from mate in 2 to mate in 3)
1. Qd5+ Qe6
2. Qxe6+ Rf7
3. Qxf7#
lol I found that as well and I thought I was missing something
Theres like 5 ways to get checkmate on that problem.. But those kind of situations wont come up in pro games.
Doesnt matter what black does in that situation, it is whites situation to blunder...
Amazing content dude, keep it up!
Great content! I love these 10 Levels of tactics!!! On puzzle #4, I believe White can avoid mate by not taking the bishop with the Queen on d4, and moving the e1 rook to defense on e2 or f1. White still loses a Queen but gets a Rook and Bishop in exchange and can still fight for the game with a disadvantage though :)
I thought the same!
At 7:27 isn’t Rook on f1 takes Rook on f8 checkmate?
ye...
White rook takes F8, Black rook takes f8, white Queen D5, Black rook F7, white Queen D8, Black rook F8, white Queen takes F8 checkmate. Theres like 4 different ways to get checkmate, but this one wont sac the queen
Super instructive and fun video, I loved the edits as well! Keep up the good work!
In level 3 , we don’t even need to give a check with knight, rook to f8 is simply mate.
I’m excited for this
Very nice sir thank you
7:30 mate in 1 left the chat
18:15
Took me a minute but I found it!! The key is to think about all the checks, captures and attacks guys
I just did it by instinct
I love this series!!!! 🎉🥳✨
at 7:29 rxf8 is mate
In level 3 - Rf1xrf8 Rd8xRf8 qd5 rf7 qd8 rf8 qxf8 mate?
King can't go to h8 because of knight. If queen tried to come in between, we can simply take it followed by checkmate in similar order. Every move comes with check so no other moves possible for black.
For problem 3 isn’t Rxf8 a faster mate than Ne7 Rf8?
Yep he missed that i think
Best Series Ever!!!!
Are there 2 solutions two the second puzzle? Isnt Rook to c7 winning too? Cause black hast to sac the queen
Also level 3,you missed mate in one😂
Yeah 😂😂
The puzzle at 7:42 has an error. On the computer game white’s rook starts on f1, but over the table it starts h1.
The rook being on f1 means taking the queen is fine, since you can sack the rook onto the knight when it attempts to fork.
Checkmating is better, but you can get a nearly free queen when the rook starts on f1.
bro i love your videos
Can the black queen go to f8 in the beginning example?
i was so smooth brained that i almost failed level 1
Could you do the Undermine tactic now or is that too similar to the deflection tactic?
Unbelievable! I solved ALL level 1 to 10 and final boss although I just 1000 elo. Thanks a lot Zach
i'm a 1100 but completely solved levels 1,2,3,6,8, and got the main ideas of levels 4,5. I also solved final boss somehow(i've seen similar ideas among the chess internet comunity). On level 3 btw, after Rxd5 you have mate in 1 with Rxf8.
In the 4th puzzle after black plays Bd4, what about Ne4? Blocking blacks white bishop, preventing Qg2#
Sorry to say but in second puzzle the King should be on g1 but it was on h1 over the board
I’m confused on lvl 3 why did you make the knight move when taking the rook instead was still mate?
There are 2 mates in level 3 obviously the first move is d5+!! After rxd5 in stead of Ne7+ you can simply play rxd8#
I was scrolling through the comments to see if someone else saw that, thanks I would play rxd8#
4th puzzle i calculated correctly but theres a sneaky move that actually defends mate, after bishop pins queen... you can play knight to e4. blocking site of the light squared bishop while defended by the rook. resulting only in a queen loss
the bobby fishcer game has been correctly solved now as of today!
On level 4, would taking d4 with bishop first be better? This would force rook to take d4 bishop then rook to e1 check and after mate. Rook to e1 first allows d1 to take on e1 then after bishop pins queen, allows time to block b7 bishops path with the c3 knight to e4 which is also defended by the rook on e1. You could bring the other rook to e8 to threaten the e4 knight then but queen takes d4 bishop, after e8 takes e4, e1 takes e4 still blocking the white squared bishops path and e4 is defended by queen. With the first move order where bishop takes first, mate is quicker and forced. If I missed something let me know, I'm only 1200 after all, I want to improve
For the second one, I did Rc7 instead of Rc8, because I thought the rook was the one being overloaded
Looking for this comment. I had the same thought and can’t see why it doesnt work
@@JaSoNZ16 after rc7, black has rh6, threatening the queen and stopping the immediate mate. the position is still very much winning for white but still slower than the solution shown in the video
Hey Zach what are those pieces called? The ones you use on your new board
Game room
American Staunton by ChessBazaar!
@@thechessnerd im 801 elo if i get wrong what do i do?
Level 3 has 3 solutions and one of them is in one less move
Sir you are a great
In level 3 after queen D5 and rook takes, you could just play knight takes F8 checkmate.
that first example Qf8 could be played
in level 3
after rook takes white queen
why did we have to move the knight for a mate in two while it was possible to mate in one move by rook f8?
18:21 I found the checkmate in 20 second 🎉❤
Level 4 isn´t that from a Fischer-game? Wild to put it in as a 1000-1200 puzzle when it´s a game from a World-class-grandmaster.
I hope I'm not asking a dumb question but, being a beginner, it's really puzzling for me: isn't this tactic a deflection? We are luring a piece away so that it stops defending a particular square and I've learned that that's what deflections are. If deflection and overloading are two different tactics, can a more experienced player please explain to me their exact difference? I understand, for example, the difference between deflections and decoys, but in this case I just can't work it out...
i found final boss too and every other while being 800 elo bullet
You're a talented teacher! Video editing is also insanely clean
Thank you!!
Level 6: Bishop to F7 also works
In my opinion, lvl5 should be higher elo than 6 and 7, as in lvl 5 the outcome is kind of equal position with a pond advantage, lvl6 and 7 quite obvious checkmates
howd the rook in the first tactic be there in the first place tho?
6:50 cant you take the rook, rook forced to recapture, Qd5 check, rook blocks, Qd8 check and then Qf8 mate
Yes you most definitely can just mate in 5 instead of 3 after Qe6 blocks.
In level 3 after Qd5 and Rd5 there's mate in 1 Rf8
How Does He Only Have 150k Subs, Let's Get Him To 1m!
I was able to solve all of them, nice 😊
in first example queen to F8 defends attack ok.
Idk if I’m going nuts but the knight never has to go to e7 in problem 3 right?
Isn’t Rxf8 at 7:30 m1?why give a check with the knight first I actually don’t get it
7:27 why Ne7 when Rxf8# is mate in 1?
Got all the way to the Final Boss where I got puzzled. So I have a question to the Final Boss. What happens after 1. h7 Rh1 2. Rd3+ Ke4 3. Ra3 Can White win this or does it bring Black back in the game?
Level 2 - Rc7 works too?
You are so Awesome
This tactic is basically my life. There is too many homework to do
Why did u mate in two instead of one in third pos
At level three, why Ne7+, when I can play Rf8#?
Level 4 ! Well i think if i were the white Player I'd put the rook at g1 rather taking bishop.
On level 3 can’t the black king just move aside? If it moves out of check white doesn’t have a clear way to win.
7:30 isn't it mate without the knight check?
The final boss is easier than the 1000 elo one 💀
21:03 I found it in 2 minutes 🎉❤
It was hard for me to find it but I did it 💪
In third puzzle zach showed
Qd5 rxd5
Ne7 kh8
Rxf8#
But I have more faster way
Qd5 rxd5
Rxf8#
Rf8 is checkmate in 1 move 7:28
Level 6 is not always checkmate. What about Qe6, Rxe6, Nxe6, Qxe6 and the last rank is defended by the rook.
Hi there, @thechessnerd .
In problem 3(800-1000), was RxF8 ok?
RxF8 RxF8 QD5+ RF7 QxF7#
7:42 the board is different, the rock belongs to f1 not h1.
Final boss was very easy under 30s😊😊
for level 3 cant we also play rook f8 first
yes, i thought that was the solution, but it is mate in 5, rather then mate in 3 with Qd5
This gonna boost up to 2300 elo at least
7:27 Rxf8 was checkmate innit?
7:28 isnt Rook takes rook checkmate?
in level 3
For Level 3, why do you have to do the knight check after sacrificing the queen? Can't you just immediately take the rook? Knight is protecting it.
interesting steam lets see
As 900 very proud of finding Bf6 with all the sequences at 8 level❤
7:30 why can't we do rook takes f8 that would also be checkmate right?
No you can when he played Rxd3 you can just play Rxf8 checkmate
@@axelpeterson7101 yeah that's what I asked
Those tactics was too hard
at 7:29 can't rook just take rook for mate instead of moving knight with check than take rook?
yeah Rxf8 is just mate in 1
Flipping to the 3D board is kind of pointless. It takes time to reorient to from 2D to 3D
I was able to get up to level 8, but struggled with level 9 and gave up.
At 7: 30 of the video isn’t rxf8# checkmate?
