This ship lives in my dreams since I first saw it at 5 years old...47 years ago. My dad was a trucker on our way to Chicago when I asked him.." dad how did they get that big ship in that pond".( lake Kalamazoo) 1976. Been on her 6 times..once in Port McNicol

I had seen the Kee when it was in Michigan, Lake Kalamazoo. It was long before a lot of the current signs of restoration occurred. I remember it like it was yesterday. She was my Dad’s favorite ship and I have been following her ever since.

I have had three tours of it when the Keewatin was in Port McNicol. It is amazing inside! The cabins, the dining room, the dance area etc. Beautiful dark wood inside and every cabin outfitted as it would have been when new. The volunteers from the Port McNicol worked very hard to refurbished the interior. 😊

I did the tour when she was in Port McNichol. Fantastic tour! When she's open again, do take it. They actually turned on the engines for us.

Thank you for taking the time to do this follow up video. When the ship was here in Michigan I went and toured every year. Never taught it would leave the area.

Thank you for this great history lesson. What a magnificent vessel! Your drone shots were wonderful and really captured the grandeur of the ships of that particular era. Your choice of music was spot on. Thanks so much for sharing this. Really enjoyed it!

Nigel, this is an excellent video as was your first one about the Keewatin. I live in Burlington across the Bay and Harbour. From my 18th balcony I see the Keewatin but can not see the detail you show. 6.1 kilometers the way the bird flies my Nikon 35mm 24 zoom does a good job to recognize the ship. Thank you for your hobby if that is what it is. If it wasn't for CBC news, I never would have known about this but then had a reason to Google it and learn a lot about it. Yes, I got hooked on this story like it drew you in as well. Looking forward to more videos. I will be waiting for the day for my wife and I riding our bikes to the Channel at the lift bridge when she departs for Kingston. Some how need to hook up to a site that will inform the day of travel out of the Hamilton Harbour. Maybe that will be you. Thanks so much, I enjoy watching your coverage and the See Doo. Love to have one but at 74, now a bit late. Cheers !

Hi Nigel, Yesterday Oct 24, the Keewatin was in the Hamilton Harbour still. This morning Oct 25 it is gone. Left for Kingston at 4:00 AM this morning. I missed it. did you miss it as well.
    SS KEEWATIN
ARRIVAL UPDATE - departing Hamilton Wednesday October 25th at 4am and arriving in Kingston between 10am and 1pm on Thursday October 26th.
However it is doing a passby along the Toronto waterfront at 10:30 this morning. Not sure if you are there or even aware.
    Sincerely,
    Harry

That's really cool. I watched the video, because it's historical and nostalgic - I like that kind of stuff. Also, my paternal and maternal grandfathers were both sailors. My paternal grandfather was in the U.S. Navy and served during WW2. My maternal grandfather was in the Merchant Marines, who served during WW2 and was also a boilers mate for ore ships on the Great Lakes for a number of years after the war. So, it's kind of cool to see ships that were in use during their lifetimes. Thanks for sharing this video! I'm interested to see the ship when the renovations are done. You should post a tour video. I think that would be neat. Thanks, again!

I was aboard the Keewatin on a vacation in Michigan many years back. It was interesting and surprising to see that she's still afloat and not been scrapped! Once she disappeared form Lake Kalamazoo in Saugatuck I was not hopeful and lost track of her. She was grounded and very low astern. Back then and you literally had to walk up and downhill on the tour. I'm very happy about the restoration and revitalization of same. Nice video BTW! Well done!

Another well done video. There are not many ships still around from that era. That to me makes it absolutely intriguing. Cheers!
