    Hi Frank, I’m working on a Sanyo PLC-HP7000L with lamp issues. The lamp turns on for 5 seconds and shuts off.
    I posted a video on my UA-cam channel showing the problem. I have the projector open now and I’m trying to fix the problem. I would gladly pay for your help if we can get it working again. Lamp tested ok in the test projector. Also all fans are working. Thanks!

    Hey Frank, so I have an older NEC projector that has some dust spots. They tend to be more prominent during darker scenes.
    I opened up the optical block and cleaned the screen in the dmd chip. I also cleaned the lenses that were accessible. But there are still spots on the screen when I pull it out of focus.
    Is there a way to get inside the output lens? Is it possible that’s where my dust is?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому

      I doubt its in the lens. If it is, cleaning that is really fiddly. Taking those apart is potentially the last time it might ever work. I'd suggest cleaning the DMD surface again and making sure your lamp is new enough. An older lamp will show more dust as it can't shine through it and wash out the spots. I went nuts on a benq cleaning it only to find that the lamp was failing. Once I put a new lamp in, the spots were no longer visible. What end of the focus range are you seeing it? Focus all the way in or all the way out?

      @@FixitFrank First of all thank you’d o much for your reply. And thank you for making these videos. You are only person making such detailed and quality tutorials.
      I opened everything back up and cleaned everything. The little fish eye lens and shaping lens fell out and I though I royally screwed up.
      Luckily I managed to get them back in place. And now the dust spots are completely gone.
      I could have never done it without your videos.

    Hi Frank, my Sanyo plv-1080hd has peoblem of the Warning Indicator get RED, please advice what should I start with? Thanks

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  11 місяців тому

      Sure, check the users manual to see what the led error codes point to. If it is flashing that points to a potential fan problem. If it is solid red, then it might be an electrical issue. The manual explains the different error codes. Manual -> www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/projector_manual_4674.pdf

      Thanks for help, I checked again, when turn it ON, the door opened, then hear the fan runs for 2 seconds and stoped with warning led red. I unplugged all the 5 fans, and checked them, 4 of them runs, but the fun for power supply runs 2 seconds then stop for about 5 seconds and repeat the cycle, if this is the way of it? Or need to replace? Or need to check the power supply? Thanks!

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  11 місяців тому

      what do the leds correspond to in the manual? you need to start there. I think you are jumping ahead of things. is the warning led flashing a certain amount of times as per the manual? if its solid red, that unfortunately can be a bunch of things. the +6v circuit is delicate in that model. Ive seen it fail. I dont think its going to be something you can fix without checking voltages. elektrotanya.com may have the service manual, or you can find an SM that is close and it should have the power supply voltages listed.

      Thanks, the warning led keeps red no flash . the manual shows need to check Power Supply. I will start from there. Thanks again.

    Hello, Frank. You are a pro) Can I rely on your help? I have been trying to repair an Epson EH-TW9300 projector for over a year. Projector had a vertical line, I replaced 1lcd panel with a new one, but it turned out to be defective (with line too). Then I bought a new 3lcd block, but it turned out to be defective without lines, but with a gradient effect. After a long search, I bought a new 3lcd block again , but it also turned out to be a defect - gradient: left part - red, right - part green. My original 3lcd has no color display issues. How can I fix this? Spare parts are nowhere to be found.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому

      That is the problem with Epson and the main reason you do not see me working on them often. Parts are virtually impossible to find and epson 100% will not give you service info. they design their projectors to not be serviceable intentionally. The line may be caused by the LCD driver chip or a bad connector. The gradient is probably a failed optical coating or possibly a polarizer panel going bad? Honestly I stopped working on epson except for very specific situations. Power supply issue and ballast issues are the only thing I will touch on epson and even then its a gamble as to if I can get the parts or not. As much as I hate to say this, I'd cut your losses. Repairing this will turn into a money pit if it hasn't already. I wish we could repair everything but Epson has definitely gone against the right to repair movement. If you are set on repairing this, your best option is to find another 9300 with a good optics and bad electronics and make one from the 2. I dont know how cost effective that would be though. so keep that in mind.

    Hi Frank! I recently bought a used Mitsubishi WD8200U on eBay which was in brand new condition. I used it for a couple of hours and then turned it off. A few days later I turn it back on and it would start powering on and suddenly turn off and flash it’s power light with green and red. The status and filter light would also flash red which the manual just says means “contact dealer.” Wanted to know if there any next steps you’d recommend for repairing it. Thank you!
    Edit: took it apart and found that one of the bulbs had broken at the base and might’ve caused a wire to short which melted the connector for the bulb

    Hey frank, I have a Benq mh733 projector. There was recently a power surge by lightening. It powers on, however, its showing a bunch of vertical lines. The HDMI port that it was plugged into does not work, but the other hdmi ports along with the vga port works. The main problem is the vertical lines.
    Can it be fixed?

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому +1

      If it happened after the power surge that could be a bad sign. Normally the lines would mean a mainboard wasn't connected properly but if you never had it apart, then that's not the case. I suspect the mainboard would need repair or replacement. If it needs replacement, that's not going to be cheap.
      Take what I say with a grain of salt because I'm not looking at it, but I suspect this might be time for a new projector.

      @@FixitFrank Thank you. That was the suggestion from a friend of mine, but I needed a second opinion. It's a pretty new projector, it was installed a few months ago. But I guess we'll have to look at getting another one.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому

      These have a 3 years warranty. If you are still covered, I would play dumb and send it back to BenQ and make it their problem. Just don't mention anything about power issues. Just "it stopped working right". They should replace the mainboard without issue.
      I'd offer to look at it, but since they are not very expensive to begin with, I know the cost of a new mainboard would be prohibitive. I'd check that warranty though. Hopefully you can utilize it.

    Nice video Frank. I have just fixed an Optoma projector(2021 build), shorted Mosfet at the power supply(high voltage). It turned on, color wheel and fan turned on as well, but had a lamp error. It is a VDHDNTeH, but I can't find any info about this model number, wouldn't you know which actual model number is it? To me, it looks like it is an HD28HDR, but I can't be sure.

      Hey Tibor! Check the serial number here. arc.optomausa.com/support/ModelNumberLocator/index.aspx that should confirm the model. Thats a nice version if its the HDR model.

    Good evening Fixitfrank.I have a question.
    Is it the same in a color wheel
    RGBWRGBW (UHD50X OPTOMA) TO RBGWRBGW???(this is the order I see on the color wheel )
    I want to buy a color wheel described for Optoma UHD50X RBGWRBGW but the description of review in projector Central is RGBWRGBW(Green comes first Blue)
    I expect for your response.Who can explain me?Thank you

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  Рік тому +1

      I'm sorry. I looked all over and I do not know. My recommendation is to make sure you buy the color wheel by using the projector model, rather than the color order. If you want to email gydz@timeprojectorlamp.com with a picture of your old wheel, they will be able to help.

    Great video. My PLC-XP100L starts up, lamp comes on (a bit flashy) then after a few seconds all LEDs (except for lamp is solid red) start to flash and the lamp turns off. Looked at the service manual and with Hyper Terminal I found " Gamma 1.8V NG" (error code 1014). It apears that IC4801 should have 1.8V at pin 62? Its not entirely clear to me where to go from here.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  9 місяців тому

      hard to say without seeing it honestly. It might just be saying that the gamma isn't on because the lamp didn't start. I'd go by the service manual and troubleshoot via their no turn on checklist. I'd see if your power supply is working all the way. that seems to fail in these. The 6v line seems to be an issue and that might be what feeds the regulators for the 1.8v. If the lamp blinks/flashes before it shuts down, that points towards a power problem even more in my opinion.

    • @FixitFrank
      @FixitFrank  10 місяців тому

      it depends on why it is shutting down. what are the leds flashing? the lamp timer sounds correct at 0 hours. the led flash code will tell you what the error is.

    Hello Frank, Good work you do. Another fault on the SANYO PLC-XM150L same power supply as the as XM100 (Dead) (No LED) Power Supply C640=22uf@50v C635=470uf:@16v C685=22uf@16v. I had 3 units to totally strip down and clean, but unfortunately I made the big mistake cleaning the Polorized Glass (Red Green Blue) with a swab. Totally ruined them (So Delicate). So now I am looking for new sets RGB if anyone has a few stripped down Optical Units. Pretty Please

    I wonder why in this day and age when people are reluctant to use a full hd projector and opt for an ultra hd, why would someone use a Sanyo projector of a pre hd era? Probably the high lumens.
    Not frank's fault of course. Ultimately, he is doing what is expected to do it and does it well.
