This is a great song. The thing I love about this song is that it’s just vague enough that you’re not sure what he’s talking about, but specific enough that almost anyone can relate it to something their life. It’s not a song that talks about any specific experience for me, rather it embodies a “feeling” or state of mind, for me at least. Gives me chills every time I hear it. Having that ability is truly a gift and I wish I could write songs like this.

For me this song express a feeling from a truck driver like experiencing his life on the roads.

He came up in the metal scene with your boy Phil and he just released a country and his first metal album in 15 years recently on the same day.

I have the feeling that Cody would be grateful to hear you compare him to "Hoss". He's definitely in that "I'll do it my way" vein that Waylon Trademarked.

Take a look at a live performance of Decoration Day by Jason Isbell. His great songwriting along with some great instrumentation. Live @ Paradiso #2 is a good one. It's actually a song from Jason's earlier band Drive By Truckers, but he still performs it regular.
