- despite doing the same thing - no two farms are the same - and farmers are all in competition with eachother ... helping neighbors has become a thing of the past - now it's help yourself and fight to keep.what ya have ... especially after doing social media - it's apprent that more people need to actually shut up and learn something - as well as stop micro managing other people's operations ...
I like the detail that you bring to the ag. industry, THX.
Thank you for watching.. nothing buy the truth
Good evening from Milton Pennsylvania we just finished planting organic corn and wash the 1750 XP now it's time to get ready for next year. Thanks for the video have a great evening
Hi ... great to hear from you! ... thats awesome and a good feeling ... right after making this video, we had 3 inches of rain with hail .. a couple of our farms got whacked pretty hard- but I think the corn will push through- just another set back - which is on par for the year .... have a great evening
When I watch one of your videos I watch the whole video from start to finish. You are 100% correct it is almost next to impossible for a young 18+ year old to go out and get a loan for a farm. Even if he could get a loan to say go out and buy 100 acres it is not enough to make a living from. Luckily I started to buy land in early 2000. You cant even find good farm ground in our area to buy and a lot of it now is getting gobbled up for solar which in turn is driving up the price. It will be interesting what all of these forms of energy will have an impact on agriculture in thr future. A video I watched yesterday admitted they do not know what impact all of this will have on agriculture etc since most of it is relatively new even though the concept is old. All the same questions you mentioned in this video I think about on a daily basis. I hate no one including people I dont get along with which is very few. I wish all man kind the best and dont hate anyone if they have more or less than me. I try to learn from people that tend to have more than me. I like to look at my situation then and see if I can improve on myself and my situation. We all started out with no experience but some of us where born into better situations than other's. We just have to work with the cards we are dealt. I appreciate the great informative videos you put out. If a young kid wants to farm he needs to find an old farmer willing to take him or her under their wing and slowly work their way into taking over the farm.
Hey bud! How are you! Always great to hear from you ..... I 100% agree with everything you said ... and no there hasn't been much for land deals - your right, early 2000s things changed .... kind of a sad, and hopeless future for any kid wanting to start farming....
@@thefedupfarmer8482 I am doing well. Having trouble here getting anything planted. Just about the time the ground dries out here comes 2+ more inches of rain.
Thanks much brother 🙏
Thanks for watching!
I listened to the complete video and there is alot of truth's in it,as it happened to me personally. The human factor is the unknown factor in most transactions. As usual always enjoy your talks, lots of stuff to contemplate and and absorb.Have a great day 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks very much for watching... I sincerely appreciate it .... and yes, there's a lot of talking points here ... I'll make a followup to this video to explain things better
I'm all in for wind. Wish you the best 🍻🇺🇸
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment .... some love and some hate wind .. and maybe it doesn't have to be wind- although wind turbines are all thats showing interest - but just any additional source of income a farm can supply is good - anything new and industrious to the area will help the areas infrastructure grow and produce more income ....
People have asked me how to get started too. My responce is to go work for a farmer, you get the benefits of running the big fancy equipment and get a paycheck at the end of the week and have no worries. No one starting out is going to be going to be running the big fancy equipment that makes them want to farm.
Exactly ... I agree 100% ... its kind of sad that ag is such a lousy business that you either have to be born into it or start with a oxen and wooden plow .... john deere did a "farm study" - thier conclusion was help would be groomed as employees, and not owners... kind of sad in a way... but for established land owners were all doing ok ... thanks for watching and taking time to comment - have a great evening....
We have quite a bit of dairy in our area, I'd say a solid dozen younger guys in Their 20s n 30s with dairy farms. Fsa is giving out $ to these guys with their government approved educator by their side by the wheelbarrow loads, problem in my eyes is they are getting this generation so far in debt there's no way out. Great video as always!
Thanks for taking time to comment and watch the video! ... thats interesting...I don't personally know much about the dairy industry - but have been told it's very low profit ....
I`m pro energy, here is why my trucks don`t run on fairy dust and unicorn piss. I`m an asshole and i love it, wanna know the best part of being an asshole is it don`t cost anymore to be a big one. It always amazes me how everyone knows more about my shit then i do. Go figure huh?
LOL 🤣 .... so true ... we will need diesel and gasoline in this country for many years to come ..... when I started doing vlogs, everyone wants to know everything about everything, so I take the time to explain it, then they turn around and micromanage it and blow up about it ... this is the point of where I just shake my head ... and if you have the slightest disagreement with them - they really hate me then ... oh the joy ... anyway, hope all is well in your parts ..we were dry, but then got 3 inches in 30.mins and some farms got bad hail damage- which is on par for the year ....
@@thefedupfarmer8482 That's another reason I got into farming...to not have to deal with the city shit heads and spoiled brats....It may not be a great business in the end, but it damn sure beats working a city job and having to deal with the arrogant, degenerate public...by a longshot!
@@moogman5 I agree 100% .... I couldn't take being stuck in a factory something ...no escape
Another good video. The way I see it is that employers only pay employees the lowest wage they think they can and get someone to do the work. Farming is a job that people enjoy and want to do. So it doesn't take much "wage" to get someone to do it. Therefore in the long term farming will never be very profitable.
Thanks very much... thats for sure ..these companies don't pay dquat anymore
I must be 1 of the 5 keep up the good work👌
Haha ...your comment made my day 😅 ... thank you very much and have a great day!
I watched your entire video, as I do with most videos on both your channels. I agree that all farmers want to expand, but I don't think every farmer does it for the same reason. On our family farm we have 5 people that work together to farm 800 acres on the weekends. All five of us work full time jobs during the week because we know that farming doesn't pay for itself. Our reasoning for wanting to expand is simply because we enjoy farming that much. The dollar signs aren't that important to us regarding the farm, that's why we work for larger businesses during the week. After watching your channels it seems hypocritical to say you should never turn down opportunities for supplemental income, but then get out of the excavation business and complain about not having money to expand. Just another perspective for you
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment .... I always enjoy hearing from you .... farming is a business - and any business should have a rate of growth or the ability to grow whatsoever .... when I did excavation - we did mainly farm work (land improvement) - when the farm economy flopped, I had to chase other type work (in cities) which is political, a long ways away, and not easy. So while the excavation company did make more percentage take home income - it was just like any other service industry where you kill yourself to scratch out a basic living ... I would love to go back to moving dirt - but I don't think works stable enough to even pay for the earthmoving equipment, and rhe equipment we have isn't good enough for commercial work (breaks down a lot, high hrs).. so I don't want to get into s business that I can't make the payments on..... plus i don't have much time - farm soaks it all up .... me personally, I'd be better off to tell dad to sell the entire thing, and just go to town and get a job - but at my age, it's aweful late to just walk away and start over.....I'll try to explain more to talk more or do a better job explaining about this in upcoming video .....
Its pretty sad when the best day to be a farmer is not the day you sell your crop but the day you do your taxes. LOL.
@@alanwesterfield4254 not really ..nothing good about tax day ever ..for anyone .. while somewhat needed, jts legalized theft
I watched the whole thingy
Thank you for watching!
I watched it all. I can see why you call yourself the "fed up farmer". The answer to profitable farming may very well be NOT to get bigger and expand, but a return to the way we used to farm 50 years ago. 240 acres used to be a lot of farm when you had livestock, rotation of alfalfa hay, corn, soys, feed ground ear corn to the feeders, Used plows, cultivators, corn pickers. No big machinery, trucks, chemical and fert bills, everything organic. Oh maybe a little 2-4D for weeds and use corn knives and bean hooks. 100 bu/a corn yields a good crop, walk the crop off the farm with 4 legs. insteasd of 18 wheels. Yep, going back to the roots. Don't need 3000 acres of rows. Ya think these young bucks that want to farm and want to expand their acres thru whatever means possible would consider going back to the old ways of farming???
Great to hear from you .. and thank you for watching and taking time to comment .... your right - no one is going to farm that way anymore - might be a few, but generally speaking, no the young generation definitely won't go backwards - especially if manual labors involved. When I was a full time excavation contractor, finding & keeping good labor was my number one problem ... modern ways have definitely allowed people to become lazier - but much more productive - but as you stated those are some of the factors that have led us down a much more expensive path .... so many good talking points here - I'll have to weigh in on it more in an upcoming video.... I have a hard time putting the content together in ways that I don't receive death threats - haha - oh the joys of social media .....
I can say I watched it all, and I thought you already knew you were an a$$hole😂😉 I am not a farmer but economics is economics, doesn’t matter of your selling beans or ass, principal is the same. Keep doing you it’s all educational
Hahaha 🤣.... a-hole or dad? ... all to often when I attempt to educate certain people I feel like a father - most of this stuff should already be known ....and your exactly right - any business needs to generate profit .. its called agri business - not agri hobby ....lol... wait until my video about banking comes out - I'll probably be shot ...lol ...great to hear from you!
Well I have about as much use for banks as I do the government, so I’ll be waiting for that one!
Haha ..you and me both! ...the common theme across America is money...crooked country- and banks (people with $) and politicians are at the top of it all ....
