All organists are invited to visit Melbourne Australia and to play the newly renovated state of the arts pipe organ located in the Melbourne Town Hall. It's truly exceptional...and wants to be appreciated xxxxx
anAngelisHard2find As someone rather familiar with that organ I would point out that the current Schantz organ was installed in 1999. Not so new anymore. But it is exceptional being the largest organ in the southern hemisphere. Tuba choruses are magnificent and the Trompette Militaire on 50" of wind is also notable.
The MTH organ isn't pure Schantz though... most of the pipework is 1929 Hill, Norman & Beard! Really, the 1929 organ should have been left alone, unmodified...
A considerable feat of gymnastics to bring that off as well as some intimacy! They made the best of the long echo and I found it quite amazing! Well done to them. Only two organists of their calibre could have pulled this off!
Good job fellas.........particularly impressed by the calm way in which you were crossing arms and feet.....:) Get's the best out of the instrument in such a fabulous acoustic! Well done!!
That was fun!! Thanks for sharing, those tubas and pedal reeds are sumptuous. The nave console must be so satisfying to play, you can really savour the acoustic.
Thank you. And for the magnificent portrait of Christ..... Here in Albuq., New Mexico they nearly always hide the great organ pipes... I do not know why.
WOW, that sounded fantastic, I would imagine that blew some dust out of the organ pipes at the end. Its depressing to here a cathedral organ been tickled, they were built to be played and heard, that was fantastic to listen to
It isn't the complete symphony but only the last half of the second section with the organ entry. I had the great opportunity to hear a few recitals there.😅
Wonderful work, but us poor guys out here in UA-cam Land can't really hear the quadraphonic nature of what your doing. Only wish I'd been there. This is one of my all time favorite works. Thanks so much for sharing this JOY with us all. CVD
It's an old saying, that the building can be the best stop on the organ, but in this case the reverberation might be too much of a good thing! Excellent and thrilling performance. Thanks for the upload.
So much so that a lot of peices are slowed down to allow for this amount of reverb haha Check out "God save the queen, best version" one from the 1980s
Sound coming through on my Apple iPad leaves much to be improved. I just love this incredible symphony, but what I’m hearing now seems to be sent to me from the outside if St.Paul’s cathedral, not the inside. Sound appears quite muted. No fault of the musician, the church, or certainly Saint-Saen. Must be my iPad that can’t handle the wondrous sound coming from the organ. Thanks so much for the performance.
If you know the original score of the piece you will hear that the changes from the orchestra to the organ are sometimes a beat too long in this recording. The organists are waiting for each other to finish a phrase. It just doesn't work !!
The acoustics of the performance needs to be taken into consideration. There were several instances where intricate moments in the score were drowned out by the bass and foot pedal notes. It's a beautiful organ - one that's even better in person I would think - but in a space like that, it's strength is loud chords - it's weakness obviously hearing anything other than the bass.
The playing is fabulous. Sadly the reverberation and heavy dome section of the instrument detract from the music. And some of the more charming moments are lost. David Briggs the concert organist arranged this for solo organ so didn't know there was a organ duet score unless they are using the solo organ copy ?
Hi. I'm Sung-hoon Kim in Korea. Can I have this organ duet score? Because I need to concert play the organ. The concert is a performance of our University(Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary) professor's retirement thanksgiving. Please send me a massage. This concert is on Nov. 12, 2019.
Hard to get a good feel for the performance due to the substandard quality of the recording. The microphones are too far from the pipes and reverb is muddying the sound.
I hope these two do a duet of this piece on the next solo organ CD from St. Paul's

please tell everyone about the Melbourne organ so that they too can visit and play the organ.

Charlie Terry Check out Johnathan Scott he does it SOLO!!
Uma versão magnífica. Parabéns aos dois organistas pela excelente exibição.

I didn't know this was possible...what a treat, thank you for posting!
That was fun!! Thanks for sharing, those tubas and pedal reeds are sumptuous. The nave console must be so satisfying to play, you can really savour the acoustic.
Bravo!! Magnificent! Thank you.
The St. Paul’s organ has such great clarity and power.
Thank you. And for the magnificent portrait of Christ..... Here in Albuq., New Mexico they nearly always hide the great organ pipes... I do not know why.
Wow! These two are in accord! How exciting!
Fabulous playing! Thanks for sharing!

Don't you just love that growl the organ gives?! Huge sound. Wish the micing was just a little closer to the pipeworks.

I'm talking about the quadraphonic nature of the organ not its volume. Thanks. CVD
Jonathan Scott has a SOLO video on youtube of him playing this piece that he arranged and it is magnificent.
Dear mudgebauer... Thanks. CVD
mudgebauer Johnathan Scott is amazing.
I never knew St Paul's had a second console. Thanks for the video.
Installed in 2008.
It's enormous! I can't help but wonder how much it cost.
@@EElgar1857 The cost was £150,000. It was donated by the family of Harry Gabby, sub organist 1946-1974.
aren't humans just great? - magnificent job lads well done.
BRAVO 👏
What an overwhelming splendour - extraordinary - many thanks for upload... is there any better recording place in this vast building?

When did St Paul's get a console in the nave?
In 2008.

John Mitchell you just understand acoustic
I know it's the acoustic, but the music is damaged by it@@gerritjannieuwenhuis9521
Great experiment, but those 9 seconds may be more than a challenge for this piece. Congratulations anyway.

How you guys managed to make this work in that acoustic is astonishing! Hats off to you both! My favourite cathedral organ sounds DIVINE!
This is complete heaven on earth. Wonderful. I watch it often!
Astonishing, heavenly sound!!
Marvelous to find this just prior to heading off to my own parish organ!
Get this on a CD and make it the title - a commercially sound idea for the cathedral shop!
Wonderful work of this peice of music. Just I was there to hear the LIVE performance.
David Tout
Fifteen years ago, or more, this Symphony was a concert for orchestra and organ.
I was there, in St Paul's.
Fantastic memory.
Absolutely magnificent splendid!!#Organsymphony #Saintsaens#Stpauls#Organists
Bravo gentlemen!!! Excellent!!! What power, grace and all around perfection...the acoustics are dynamic!!!
What a powerful organ! I'd give an arm and a leg to play it. Well, maybe not.
Well, I don't know about you but I'd give your arm and leg to play it. Blessings on your holidays.
Acoustic is similiar to Largest Church in Poland.
Wow! The sound is like God opened a door to the universe! Stupendous performance.
Brilliant!

if you KNOW the music, the charming moments are not lost. They can actually be hear - if you know them.
They are using JAMES HOLDER's duet arrangement - one of the two performers. See the note at the top.
That's PETER Holder...
AWESOME brilliant thrilling
That about sums it up :P
What a glorious sound!

The bells and the organ awesome and beautiful.

Magnificent
