I think i finally figured out why most people prefer OW1's theme over this new one: It doesn't feel like "You see this clip? this is ME making that moment". More like, "This is us posing with explosions to the background looking cool moment" Sure, it sounds more epic and pronounced, it has more oomph and it's very bombastic to the feel but it just feels like if you got told to re-invent the theme and the only thing you understood is how to make it look epic and not "how do I make this feel like this is the winning play; the play that made this win memorable to me".
This is exactly it. Overwatch 1 POTG sounds so much better. This one is too grand/epic. OW 1's was slick and straight to the point, it didn't drag out the moment any more than it needed to. Just straight badass plays.
OW1 theme was basically (in sound) : game is over rest a bit, ticking clock clutch moment coming.... OOOPPHHMMM Heroic music OW2 theme just feels faded and without punctuation in comparison.

The old POTG had more energy and a buildup, and the tempo of it fit the POTG better than this dragged out slower version. I always wondered why POTG seemed so boring now and now that I went back and heard OW1's I noticed its different. Just not the same energy anymore.
The Old Potg theme was a million times better, insane downgrade, just like everything else in OW2 5v5, the menu, the HUD and the Soundtrack are all worse
