Considering Maya has only Industrial Age artillery and no cavalry to work with, I can live with the raw power of this unit. After all, they are not so strong against a decent amount of Heavy Cannons and Culverin support for the Light Cannon
basically they DO have really strong cavalry but u need to ship both Tulancingo Crussiers and Cavalry Combat to make them trainable in Maya Imperial Ages, and they dont have to upgrade because they are consulate units, so u can get Imperial Crussiers for free.....
They get french Cuirassiers if you send that mexico card in age III before revolting enabling them in forts. But youre right artillery destroys maya going heavy on skirm helps too
it only now got to me that they are so strong, that there are only like 3 heavy infantry units that can trade with them about equal in terms of being cost efficient
40 Highlanders is more realistic with Dutch civ because they only have a max of 60 villages and are left with 140 population space. But this is based on resources. I prefer population more. If it's 1pop units vs 1pop units I prefer same amount vs same amount and also if it's 2pop units vs 2pop units same amount. More accurate results.
When you are fighting against an opponent who is constantly attacking you and has a strong eco, population will become near irrelevant. First you need to be able to supply your army, than you can worry about population. So maybe in a single battle, same pop vs same pop would be more accurate, but in a real match resource matters more especially if you are struggling to keep up with your opponents economy.
@@ol4yosh436 aren't we comparing units against each other? The most accurate result you can get when comparing units against each other is same amount vs same amount dude. But like I said, this video is based on resources.
@@ol4yosh436 if it's a 1pop unit vs 2pop unit then obviously the 1pop unit will be more than the 2pop unit in a match up because of population space. In that case you will have like 80 - 100 1pop units up against 50 2pop units. See my point? So if it's 1pop vs 1pop unit then the most accurate result will be to match them up about 80 vs 80.

Light cannons are more fasters than culverins. Light cannons + cruzzobs is unstopable.
They can use melee attack on canons killing them instanly the moment they get close

I love zouaves, one of the most versatile units they've added, it's a shame you can't mass them, they should make it so some civi can craft them
