      Mike you didn’t even talk about how half of our team is injured. You gave short descriptions towards Aidan being out. But forgot we had 2 corners out amik and Carlton Davis. Alim Mcneil out. Malcom Rodriguez out. That’s 4 significant players not even including Aidan. Sadly the commanders won because of a injuried riddled season. In all honest I’m a lions fan and with all the injuries that happen is was just best for us to take the draft pick and get our guys healthy. But to give any credit towards Daniels having a good game towards a 2nd string defense is atrocious

    As a lifelong Lions fan, this was the team I didn't want to see in the playoffs. The other being Buffalo. For basically the same reasons. A running/option-oriented QB has caused problems for the Lions all season. Allen exposed them, Daniels exploited them.
    Doesn't hurt when you lose the turnover battle and the Skins, whoops Commanders, played a damn near perfect game.

    • @jamesbroomfield7799
      @jamesbroomfield7799 16 годин тому +2

      What's crazy is, for how terrible the Lions defense and offense for that matter was playing, they were always right there still in the game for basically the whole game up until the 4th quarter. There are only down by 10 or 3 points for most of the game and that's crazy for how terrible they were playing you would think the commanders would have been up by 21 or 28 points by that point in time. And also if the game would have went how it was supposed to go and smacked and got his Bell rung that should have been a flag and that would have taken away that Pick 6 and this would have been a whole different ball game and the reason why I'm blaming the referees is because when Washington had the ball next, Jayden Daniels gets rid of the ball in Pascal runs up and kind of just barely pushes Jayden Daniels I mean he didn't hit him hard or anything he barely pushes him with just his arms, he didn't like run and use his body weight or anything but anyways he barely pushes Jane Daniels and Jane Daniels Falls backwards on his butt, but not hard he wasn't pushed hard at all but the referees immediately threw a flag and gave Washington a new set of downs + 15 yards and that's what pisses me off that they don't call it for Jared Goff when he got blatantly smacked in his helmet but if Jay Daniels barely gets pushed they throw the flag immediately but it is what it is my take on it is with this defense being so decimated I doubt the Detroit Lions would have won the Super Bowl they would have been lucky just to make it to the Super Bowl they would have had trouble getting past the Eagles of the Rams and even if they beat the Eagles or the Rams there's no way in hell they're going to beat the bills the Chiefs or Lamar Jackson with this defense being just crippled. Having practice squad players on a majority of the defensive line, having a rookie cornerbacks come in that never played a down in their life how to cover these NFL receivers that have been playing all year. We have to ask ourselves with Detroit really win a Super Bowl with this defense and the answer is absolutely not

      It's part of it but it's not the biggest reason. They were in this game until they started turning it over. Very winnable game for them until they started turning it over and genuinely right up until that idiotic play call for Jameson Williams to throw a double pass to a receiver blanketed in coverage. Worst play call in the history of the playoffs, like the Commanders weren't fooled and you expect Williams to be able to read a defense and understand what to do? No, he threw the ball because that was the play design. Didn't care that it wasn't open, he threw it anyway. That's why you don't let receivers throw the ball unless it's like a trick play in the red zone or a 2pt play, etc. They were only down 1 possession at that point and had PLENTY of time. That sealed the game right there. They got too cocky, too comfortable, too cute and they didn't take this opponent seriously enough. Same reason Buffalo came in there and punched them in the mouth, because they hadn't been humbled in forever and felt like they couldn't lose to anyone.
      You turn the ball over 4 or 5 times, and your opponent doesn't turn it over once, you're gonna fucking lose lol. The texans game where Goff threw 5 picks and still won was the exception, not the rule. This game was the rule.

      I was blaming Jared Goff at first but after seeing the replays of him getting smacked and getting his Bell rung, he was definitely concussed last night and I think it was messing with his vision and his speed of decision making. Because some of those throws he was doing were just not like him like the ball selling over Saint Brown's head and the interception in the end zone, those are just not like Jared Goff and I want to say I truly believe that the concussion was affecting his field of vision and his reaction time it's almost like he would see the opening and throw the ball a split second too late but in his mind it probably looked like normal

      I don't think it was a concussion. Jared Goff is one of those weird players who is really good or really bad with no in between. Unfortunately, that doesn't mesh with a lack of defense since defense can't bail you out of a bad game then. Goff just had one of his bad days yesterday. If the Lions can avoid the injury bug in the future, that will go a long way to mitigate a bad Goff game. The good news for the Lions is he has way more good games than bad games.

    The Rams continue to have won the Stafford-Goff trade. Let's see how Goff bounces back. To be fair, he was statistically decent after the Rams lost the 2019 Super Bowl, so I wouldn't expect him to fall off a cliff next season. Then again, the Rams had and still have continuity with Sean McVay as the offensive visionary since then, whereas who knows what happens if the Lions if/when Ben Johnson leaves Detroit.

    People who are shocked are not long-term Lions fans. They have a long history of very bitter playoff losses. I remember Coach Fontz praying for the kicker to nail the field goal for the win over the heavily favored Niners and he hooked it. I remember the Eagles annihilating the Lions dropping a 50-spot on them. So, last year against the Niners the loss was no surprise, and neither was yesterday against the Redskins. Times, coaches, and players change, but they're still the Detroit Lions. And heartbreaking losses in the playoffs is a Lions tradition.

    BTW, the Redskins gameplan against overwhelming odds is to score points and hope the pressure gets to the other team. And particularly the other QB, as it did Goff. Against Burrow we had to outgun him because he isn't going to crack. but against Goff he was already done cracking in the second quarter. And cracking in high pressure moments is exactly why the Rams traded him away for Stafford. He was always crack-prone, and we knew that in advance. And meanwhile Daniels is like Burrow and never cracks. It's positively a competitive advantage.

Also the Skins are a dark horse Super Bowl contender, and Daniels is the next up dominant QB since - Mahomes. The Bears drafted Caleb Fingernails because he “played” “like” Mahomes when Daniels was clearly the better guy

I personally believed they did have a shot this year but they're definitely on the decline. They might stay relevant for a few more years but I don't think they'll be 15-2 again and I doubt they'll be a true threat. No hate on the lions though I don't mind if they prove me wrong but you need 3 strong constants for a dynasty, a great QB, head coach, and general manager. Jared Goff isn't that QB, he'll give you a window of opportunity and he did but that window is closing and I think lions fans know that, that's why it was so devastating.
