I have two daughters 11yrs and 14yrs both of my girls loved helping when they were little. My youngest literally "helped" me rebuild and customize a full jeep wrangler. She was out there for hours in the garage with me for days. Some of the best days of my life. You're a great dad, keep it up my man. You will always remember these times with your girl :)
@@RAW-CAt I know that you're not asking me but I found your channel via the video collaboration you did with Justin (DIY Audio Guy). I was already a subscriber of his.
Some of the best times was when was doing projects and the kid were around and wanted to help. Sure, sometimes it was less than ideal, but years later? I still remember those times like they were yesterday. However, I could do without listing to "Gummy Bear" over and over again
Looks amazing! Excited for the upcoming videos especially the tuning ones. I like that you decided to add a 2-way system to be more relatable to most setups. Cant wait for the tuning videos of the 2-way!
Thank you for all you do for us car audio nuts, your videos are very informative and helpful. Question, is amp hiss an amp class characteristic (AB vs D) , component quality , or just a general trait of amplifying signals?
My understanding is that hiss comes from the cleanliness of the power supply. That is components in it and the filtering of the power. Some amplifiers are prioritised to make loads of power and some to be as clean as possible. Every amp designed has a budget..
You need good quality components, good design and a good pcb layout. Think of an amplifier as having multiple steps that boost the output. The end result is only as good as the quietest step. There's always going to be a compromise between cost and performance. In order to keep the cost down, manufacturers might skimp on components, the design or the board layout. Generally speaking, this is why the best quality amps are also the most expensive. There are lots of other factors involved in the price, also. So I'm being very general.
Most of the time in class D, the hiss is because of the output filter quality. Cant filter out properly the switching freq noises from the output signal. The happy thing is in some cases the filter components are easily changeable.
I do have 2 proposed solution ideas (1 for the power cables & 1 for the D4S DSP mounting). Firstly and no offfence but I like her install the best, she's a lil' system design engineer over there... seriously though, she did a great job, very creative and greatly done. Okay, for the DSP... since you are going to recover your amp board anyway a simple solution for mounting would be to... 1)locate where exactly you are going to mount the DSP 2)use 1/2" (12-14mm) round strong magnets and drill deep enough to mount them flush into the amp rack panel 3)cover the rack with new faux leather For the power cables, this idea would be visible from above but I think would look good. 1)get an old radio radio mounting strap or any pliable metal band/strap 2)cover the strap with the faux leather to match the amp rack (glue it to the metal of course) 3)bend the strap and mount it to the rack with shallow headed bolts that you will then hand tighten (the strap opening/middle will only be the thickness of the power cables) 4)now that the "mounting band" is secured, run the cables through the middle of it and into the power terminals, adjusting the look of the cables prior to securing them to the amp obviously. * You would clearly not cover the strap all the way to the ends as you need to drill holes in it (or use a strap with holes in it already) to mount it to the board. No one will ever see the uncovered portions of the strap since they'll be underneath the cables after installation. I tried to be detailed but concise, hope that this all made sense, would've been easier to sketch it out and to have just uploaded a pic or two. You did ask for ideas with the cables, lol. Keep up the great work! I am curious though if the humm is common with all EZY 810s or if this is just a faulty unit. With the lower S/N (and distortion) $850 + VAT//sales tax is a lot of $$$ for a humming/hissing amplifier.
For the wobbly mounts I use some neoprene speaker gasket tape to provide a bit bit of resistance under the wobbly sides, a bodge yes but an effective and hidden one, I use this neoprene tape in so many places, mostly for sound dampening or the rattling trim pieces. I am looking forward to your thought on this D4S DSP, 12 ch, I need twelve channel dsp but helix is mad expensive like nearly three time the price, 12 channel would allow me to to 3 way front with 2 way rear/infill and two sub channels should I need to install a front sub at some point, I really want 12 channels. Thanks so much for taking the time walking us through your car audio journey, it is priceless.
What do you think about making a underseat box for 8 inch woofer to play up to 160-200 instead of the door? I looked into it recently because my door is thin and pain to deaden. Also, there's the 120hz ish cancellation which I assume because my middle console. Your video convinced me to get the oneaudio 8 inch driver but I think it'll rattle my door like crazy haha.
I think you’re really gonna like the tweets in the sail position. I know you’ve had some tweeters there before but if I remember correctly you couldn’t aim them very well. The sail position in my car gave me better stage width, especially when I cross them as low as I can get away with. Curious to hear what you think after you get them tuned. Try that position also in your 3way set up.
Waiting for your test video on the d4s ezy dsp :) I want to see what you think before I order my 1st dsp. I'm also looking at the dayton dsp or similar to get my "feet wet" into the dsp world
They said they will try to fix it, however their customer base always asks for more power and low price. So sacrifices have to be made somewhere. Bassheads don't have problems with hiss I guess.
Can you list the part # for the molex plugs? Thanks in advance if you can👍🏼👍🏼( I think your in Europe, but if you have access to the sintra board, 12mm board, you could just cut a new amp rack piece?)

Thank you for the ideas, your comment about my daughter's system, cracked me up😂
You can use plastic P Clamps to cleanly fasten down the power and ground cables
Я тоже обнаружил у себя зависимость к твоим видео 😊👍
I appreciate the work.
You can shim under each corner of the DSP and that should help the wobble.
vynil looks good sewed, pieces on top of the hinges, maybe can be sewed all around to refine the look

Get some (cable tie saddle mounts) and (truss head screws) for your "hardware solution".
I love the way you glue the wires. It definitely looks best. Would you mind explaining how you get it so nice, please?

The solution is much better however space is of a concern. A 6.5 might fit better in smaller space than an 8.
"Can I play next to you with my toys".....lol

Can you mention the brand of the rca connectors? What do you think of their quality?
I also need to built my own cables between my dsp and amps.
I like these. For 50p a piece there is nothing to complain really.

@RAW-CAt
The Americans, don't want to generalize, are more keen on SPL than SQ. But still nice looking amp with power galore.

Some little girl is getting the audio bug very early 😂
Do you set your crossovers on your amp and match it with the dsp?
No, crossovers on the amp are bypassed. And this amplifier does not have any crossovers.
Great video though your daughters car came out better btw.
