Anyone else remember when Yorkdale wasn't an upscale mall, had an video game arcade, and the movie theatre was on the other side of the mall and directly accessible from outside? And I'm not even that old.
I live not too far at Dufferin and Finch, and I was actually planning to do a nice long walk to Yorkdale. After seeing this video and the crowds, decided no thanks to going to the mall. Rather take a nice walk at a park or a hike in the woods instead. Thanks for the virtual walk around Yorkdale though.
When Yorkdale first opened it was a very big deal, North America's mall concept was realized, big time . Schools would set up tours for their students to experience this new and exciting retail concept. The shoplifting average went up 680% that afternoon...we were asked to leave. There are a few recognizable points in the mall, great video...cheers mate👍
Thanks Johnny for the walk around Yorkdale mall looks like a very nice mall and very spacious as well. And Very busy to which is good for the Retailers. Keep up the great work 🙂
yoo strides wassup bud, hoped yur week going reel goood just soo excited and havin sleepless nites cant believed last week of winter and first few days of new season looking quite salubrious and stellar for u to take in and enjoyed..tanks for taking us on a nice cleeeen stroll through a grey style lockdown yorkdale mall. yess cant wait for our region to be granted red zone, and more successes after that every few weeks. althrough i still have to rate our mayor a big fat 0 zilt, bfore/during/after covid. other ppl doing his blastic job for him. ok walking guy cheers
My, I don't recognize the mall anymore! Along with the Eaton Center, Yorkdale was my favourite Toronto mall to walk around in. When I lived in Sudbury from 1991 to 2000, most years I would make a trip to Toronto to do a little shopping downtown, but would park at Yorkdale and take the subway downtown to hit the Eaton Center, The World's Biggest Bookstore, the Silver Snail comic shop on Queen St West (with a stroll past MuchMusic), and the headshops on Yonge St to pick up new posters and t-shirts. For lunch I would either get a slice of Hawaiian and a can of pop from the Pizza Pizza, or a hot dog and a can of pop from a weenie vendor (either option was $2, I believe). But after a long day of walking and shopping, I'd take a final walk around Yorkdale and have supper at the foodcourt, which at that time was just a short stroll from the subway. From there it was back to the car and the four hour drive back to Suds. I do have a memory of heading to that mall one Friday evening because the kids from the then hit movie "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" were going to be signing autographs in one of the courts in from of one of the anchor stores.
Happy Monday. Lots of good memories of mostly Christmas shopping here. My dad fought with a guy for taking his parking spot. (I mean a knock down) My dad won and offered to bye the guy a drink. Lol
I've been to this mall multiple times. So I know how to get there and the way out. Pretty awesome place to hang out and watch a movie with a buddy. I might tell my friend. Thanks sir!
I was thinking you prevented a lot of people from going to the mall to just look around with no intention of buying anything and thus you reduced the spread of the virus
Yes!!! There was also a restaurant on the second floor of Eatons that we used to go to all the time. My brother had a huge temper tantrum there once and my mom threatened to throw him over the side of the restaurant balcony lol.
Absolutely no where to sit down and rest. Not very good for the elderly or people with mobility issues. I used to love Yorkdale but unless you make a very high salary and don't have to spend it on astronomically high rents or mortgages in Toronto it is outside of most people's means. Too many high end venues. Interesting video!
Dosent have any appeal to me without indoor seating . There was seating outside the Nordstrom cafe where you could charge your phone but without that how can you relax?
Wow maybe i like eaton mall and how much is the price of ttc train use it because im going to move to buffalo and when i have a day off and go to toronto for a pass there and using the train system of toronto
Look like Mandarin wok was closed??... That's my favorite place to eat.. I didn't see anyone lining up there no stqff no nothing there. Sorry I know this is a late comment.
Hate this mall. HATEEE! Also hate this area. Spent way to much time in mall in the first half of my life. Then in the 2nd realized they like sell most items dirt cheap at the outlet mall 😳😳😳😳😳! Dont worry Van Cleef ❤, Bvlgari and Cartier probably won't be impacted too much by the customer capacity limits 😅. P.S. in the next videos when you walk past Louis Vuitton please walk a little slower so I can see what's in the window 🙃!
@@JohnnyStrides After work I used to walk along Bloor Street East as far I could go until I was exhausted and as I past that stretch in Yorkville my pace dropped significantly 😁! Especially at night when very few people are waking around there .... perfect opportunity to take photos 😅.
Gone are the days of pj's pet store, the arcade in the old food court, and rainforest cafe. This mall is so boujee nowadays
Thanks for another look round I remember when you did the November walk through.
Stay safe and well.

Wow considering its still partial lockdown its crazy busy there.

Great video of yorkdale mall. Can't wait to see more 😀
People, movement, joy, surprise! Johnny's awesome video. Thank you for sharing with us, those who live so far from this wonderful city of Toronto!
Nice to see the mall from your view. Thanks for sharing Yorkdale.
My sister and I really enjoyed seeing the mall through your eyes! We appreciate your great videos!

Things have changed a lot!
Loved it 💕Thank you so much for that walk through Yorkdale. I haven’t been to that mall in ages...

Glad to see our city's
Saturday right where you were at RH gallery, a security lady told me I can’t exit in that area, only shoppers or scotia you can exit.
Здравствуйте. Большое спасибо за экскурсию. Дай Бог Вам здоровья
For Johnny translation from Russian: Hello. Thank you very much for the tour. May God give you health.
Meanwhile The Promenade mall in Vaughan is a graveyard of closed shops and empty halls. I think that mall is on it's way out.
looks like normal precovid, quite a few people..I read they are allowed a 1000 people at yorkdale right now
There was way more people than that!
I was thinking you prevented a lot of people from going to the mall to just look around with no intention of buying anything and thus you reduced the spread of the virus
It's fun to walk together
Holy crowded!
Great video! Could you check-out Sherway Gardens & Scarborough Centre, as well?
Will do eventually!
Nice wok
OMG I was there the same day!!
Yorkdale Mall Toronto Grey Zone Walk.
When I went there vs was closed I could not find it anywhere sad
Does or did anyone remember or eat at the Simpsons (out in the mall) restaurant?
Yes!!! There was also a restaurant on the second floor of Eatons that we used to go to all the time. My brother had a huge temper tantrum there once and my mom threatened to throw him over the side of the restaurant balcony lol.
I like it
Nice 👍 wok
stay safe jonny
2:50 has your end screen subscribe button. Not sure if that was an oopsie. Other than that, I enjoyed Yorkdale. :)
Yeah, whoops... was rushing to get this edited before my stumbles stream :P
@@JohnnyStrides I hear ya. I'm correcting some errors on my video I made yesterday. I had the case of the stupids last night :P
Yorkdale #1
When you see a bunch of stores under one roof, you've see them all...interesting but not a place I'd want to be..
You mean once you see it once you seen it all ?

The closed store at 18:00 used to be Victoria’s Secret.
And before that I remember there was a Baskin Robins and a pretzel shop lol
Good to know
well..is neither as empty as one would expect...nor anything that says it has revived. People are avoiding places like this, no doubt.

@Johnny Strides Are you using a gimbal or is the camera attached to your chest?
I use a DJI Pocket 2 camera.
@@JohnnyStrides But last time I asked you the same question you said it was your Samsung S20+?
@@michaelroberts2581 I use the S20 FE (not plus) on livestreams and the Pocket 2 for pre-recorded videos. You probably asked me on a livestream.
@@JohnnyStrides Makes sense, thanks a lot for the prompt response! Awesome videos!
nice. ended just when it was getting a bit mundane.
Nice
Nissan just moved in there during lockdown, took over microsoft.
Would it even be legal to drive a Nissan out of the mall? I guess you'd have to go slow and use the horn a lot.
Looks like ppl just walking around aimlessly just buying stuff for the sake of buying stuff

Damn this is nothing on my mall.
People spending their cerb and crb money Wisely wish I could go up there but too many people I,ll wait when the pandemic is over, love Yorkdale Mall
Is this the 3rd wave, or it's about to start? 3rd wave everything has to close, and variants could mean another lockdown for Toronto.
