Muleteers of the Cajón del Melado
The Cajón del Melado. A mountain valley in the center of Chile was struck by foot-and-mouth disease in 1987. The measures of excluding territories for seasonal grazing and the culling of all the infected livestock allowed for the control of the epidemic outbreak, however, it caused serious problems for the inhabitants of the mountain range.
