  • The Tehran Grand Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest bazaars in the Middle East. This historic marketplace has been standing for over 1000 years. Walking through the maze-like crowded alleys, you feel transported back in time. One of the highlights is visiting the many tea houses inside the bazaar. Sipping Persian tea and conversing with locals is a favorite Iranian pastime. Strong black tea is served in curved glass cups to help aerate the tea as you drink. Snacking on dates and pistachios is the perfect complement. Another staple of Iranian cuisine is the fluffy omelette or "kuku". It's made by whipping egg yolks and whites separately to get maximum volume. Then eggs are combined with herbs, spices and veggies before being gently cooked. The result is a soft, airy omelet that practically melts in your mouth. From ancient marketplaces to delicious cuisine, Iran has so much rich history and culture to explore.
