    My gratitude to Gabii Torres for this video -- she indirectly contributed to me getting a callback from Juilliard! I "coincidentally" watched this the day before my Juilliard audition and followed all of her tips here. The craziest thing was after I auditioned, I was admitted into a waiting room where Gabii was the host, talking to a group of us who had just finished auditioning. Wild 'coincidence', right? Anyways, thank you Gabii for your tips and encouragement in this video and in that zoom room -- rooting for you and wishing you much success in your endeavors!

    Could you make a video for international students who are trying to get into an MFA in USA? Some of the process are not really possible for us for financial conditions or language issues (for example, getting a coach). What would it be alternative for that?

    Thank you so much for your tips! I'm preparing for my auditions without having any professional experience of acting in my life. But I'm gonna do everything that I can do! :)

      Go for it Kirill! I had no professional experience when I got into Juilliard, only a few years of acting training at my high school. If you want to be in the best shape possible going into auditions, you can. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, learn from mentors you respect, and play play play!
      If you would like coaching and mentorship from us, reach out via email. I'd love to hear your story. anthony@howtogetintodramaschool.com

      @Stefania yeah Gabii definitely knows what she’s taking about! When you say “preparing,” does that mean you’re going there in the fall or you’re audition for them soon?

      Hey Stefania, did you make it? Last year I got into AADA in LA. I had an audition in Berlin, Germany. Good luck to you.

    Question: I had a teacher told me once that having a ring light is very distracting since it adds a “ring circle” to your eyes. What’s everyone’s opinion about that?

    • @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool
      @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool  2 роки тому +3

      Hi Zoey! I've never thought it to be distracting personally. If you're super close up, then perhaps, but in all our coaching sessions and relationships with schools, it has never come up. Also, in general, the higher your quality of work, the less other things people notice.

    u r so sassy and kewl...but i was womderimg for contemporary monologues can they be from movies???

    • @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool
      @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool  3 роки тому +2

      Monologues can be from movies (unless the school explicitly says otherwise in their audition requirement), however…we always recommend doing monologues from published plays. If you want some options, email me and mention your commend so I know who it is…anthony@howtogetintodramaschool.com

    i’m auditioning in person. will i have to say my name and state first? or will they ask me to?

    • @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool
      @HowToGetIntoDramaSchool  2 роки тому

      Hey there! There is no hard and fast rule for how to introduce your pieces unless the school specifically gives you instructions (most don’t). We recommend having an “intro” ready - something like “My name is (name). My first piece is from (play) by (author), I play the part of (role). My second piece is from (play) by (author), I play the part of (role).” And then take a few beats to get into the first piece. Does that make sense? But ultimately however you want to say your name and pieces is up to you.
