5 Hidden Facts in Mitsubishi Elevators That You've Never Known Before

  • Опубліковано 31 лип 2024
  • I've collected all of these facts based on my observation so far and information from other elevator enthusiasts. Hopefully this video would be useful for you to try one of these facts someday.
    1. Hall lantern flashing speed is slightly increased when doors open
    This applies in most Mitsubishi elevators installed in the 1990s and 2000s. When the car arrives, the hall lanterns flashes normal but when the doors open they flashes a bit faster than before. This also applies to the directional arrows on the hall stations.
    2. Directional arrows on hall stations does not flashes when car arrives (90s Mitsubishi only)
    This only applies in 1990s Mitsubishi elevators. Arrow does not flashes when the car arrives, unlike later models in the 21st century.
    3. Keyhole on top floor button indicates an MRL
    This is the easiest way to tell if a Mitsubishi elevator is MRL or not. If you see a keyhole on the top floor button panel then it means it's MRL. It is used to access the control board which is hidden behind the panel. This does not applies in Mitsubishi DiamondTrac MRL elevators in North America. Reference: www.mitsubishielectric.com/company/rd/advance/pdf/vol99/vol99.pdf
    4. A single car call cannot be cancelled
    In most Mitsubishi elevators with car call cancel feature, a single active car call cannot be cancelled. It needs at least two car calls to erase one of them. Cancelling a single car call is actually possible, but this case is actually rare.
    5. Automated voices are only possible if there is a door close chime
    Finally, if there is a Mitsubishi elevator with a door close chime, it might have automated voices, whether AAN-B (Basic Announcements) or AAN-G (Voice Guidance System). If there is no door close chime then there are no voices.
    Sometimes when there is no door close chime and you test the nudge mode it would make a beeping noise (without voices).
    *DISCLAIMER: All of these facts are based on my researches and observations so far, as well as information given from other elevator enthusiasts. Some of them might be incorrect, so I apologize if you found any of them to be incorrect.

    From the 90s onwards, Mitsubishi tend to put quite some thought into creating subtle features that enhances passenger experience - especially at the lobby (call chimes, lanterns).

    Note that the chime around 8:25 and 8:43 plays an ascending or descending tone based on current running direction. But, a design flaw makes it play an ascending tone coming up to you before the arrow switches down.
    (The flashing arrow outside changes immediately, but the in car arrow only changes after flashing digits, and the car controls the chime)
    Compare to the familiar chime at 9:28
    Hall call cancelling also works and the elevator will make the nearest stop without door opening.

    When I was in Hong Kong, the Hotel I stayed at had some 90's Mitsubishi lifts in it with an interesting feature. When you pressed the button, it would immediately chime once to tell you which lift was coming (and a lantern would light up). When the lift arrived, it would chime twice and the lantern would flash.

      That feature is called "Call/Car Prediction". Other manufacturers also offers this feature as an option.

    There's another hidden fact for some mitsubishi- when the lift is not in use for long periods of time the indicator dims slightly. When it gets used again then the indicator brightens back to normal.

    My condo have keyhole at the bottom floor and the freight elevator have keyhole on the floor that not on the bottom or top floor is that MRL or an MMR?

    • @idl3k_elev
      @idl3k_elev  Рік тому

      Unless there is a photo of your condo elevator, I can't tell if it's MRL or not. Basically if a keyhole is on the top floor call button panel then it's definitely MRL.

    Btw, speaking about Mitsubishi, do you know that the elevators at Hilton Nusa dua (formerly Grand Nikko) have been replaced into Mitsubishi NEXIEZ-MRs? I was curious on what elevators that building used to have.

    • @idl3k_elev
      @idl3k_elev  2 роки тому

      Knew that already. Someone said that they were originally 1990s Mitsubishi (probably GPS) but then modernized by LINE in the 2000s or 2010s. Glad to see they've been replaced with something better.

    • @cjermia1
      @cjermia1 2 роки тому

      @@idl3k_elev : I have no idea why they decide to mod them into LINE at the first place tbh. I can't imagine how the mod looks like back then, must've been "unsatisfactory" considering how high-class the hotel is. Glad that they replaced them back to a proper set of elevators.

    • @TheDragonFire123
      @TheDragonFire123 Рік тому

      It seems that it's caused by the fact that (most) Mitsubishis refuse to let you cancel a car call it's already trying to fulfil, even if there are more than one. For example, if the lift were heading to level 12, then I wouldn't be able to cancel it, even if B2 is selected.
