I think the craziest part about this isn't how absolutely incredible the finished product looks: but how approachable Martina makes these builds feel. with other build channels you feel like you would need an entire workshop just to make an attempt at something similar. with this, Martina literally just glued boxes together, added shit like flour and paper towels, cut some foam, and painted. It feels like something anybody could do with $400 in art store supplies, access to someone's garbage can, and a vision. it wouldn't look nearly as good; but it doesn't feel like i would need an entire workshop to try it myself

11:00 When Martina was hand-carving all the bricks and then face-desked into it, I giggled. But when she was (understandably) ranting about how she refused to do it and was holding the piece of foam, YOU CAN SEE THE INDENTATION OF HER FOREHEAD IN THE FOAM. AND I LAUGHED SO HARD🤣 Maybe harder than what was warranted, but that was just so funny to me lol.

The linothorax of ancient Greece was literally layers of linen glued together to form a padded breastplate & backplate to protect their warriors. Modern-day tests have shown it to be remarkably effective at stopping or slowing slashes and even stabs from swords and axes. This means your castle outcrop is beautifully armored together!

Thorakes Lineo please or alternative Lorica Lintea if you want to use a non babarian language of that time. Linothorax is modern Newbie and not really correct. Even the glue is more than questionable this reconstruction of Peter Conolly is based on an Byzantine description with the massiv Problem that glue isn´t mentioned in it with one single word. And by the way it couldn´t be so cool otherwise the Romans never adoptet the much heavier Lorica Segmentata and Lorica Hamata after they used it for a short time in history during the Republic Time.

My dad does model trains, HO scale, which means his people are about the same size as the ones in this diorama. His layout that he's been working on for years (as in, decades) covers two large rooms. For his trees, he goes out in the winter when stuff is bare and finds little plants that look like miniature trees, and then paints them up or adds the static grass to make them look the part. They all look SO real! I grew up watching him work on this or that model or excitedly show off how he made this or that landscape, so the nostalgia hit me hard when you started using static grass lol. Good job!

  • @badatti2d

While I am constantly amazed at the finished product, I must say what makes it more incredible is watching the process. Your energy is the main factor, but seeing the tedious and careful attention to the minute details is inspirational. But, in the end, what appeals the most to me is your vision for the final product, which you seem to consistently have in mind before the project even starts! The final (and rightfully so) surprise is your awesome ability to make all the different elements used to complete the diorama come together with those unbelievable painting and staining skills and techniques. How you can start with simple cardboard and foam, and end up with what genuinely looks like stone and wood and dirt, complete with grasses, bushes, flowers - and even people and animals - makes me wish the videos were longer. I love watching the entire process, coupled with your unbounded energy. Thank you for the minutes you provide us to actually escape our mundane lives and live inside your imagination and inspiration. You inspire creationism and imagination with what you do, and that is rare and much-needed.

I'm not sure I get you, @@Rob-ik3fd, is your problem with Nerdforge being self aware on purpose, or that being part of a global scheme they lose their Norwegian identity?
For both points, it's their channel and they get to 'adopt' what ever process makes them happy. If'n you've followed them for a while, the content has just gotten bigger, better and more creative. How they present it is how they get to be this. No need to be bothered about it at all.
PS thought: late 90s is over 20 years ago; all things come around again, but there's no reason to believe that Nerdforge is emulating it, just because you think it's so.

I also like the miniature figures which have an incredible level of detail to themselves, they really add a sense of scale helping the observer picture themselves in the scene. Very well done.

I believe she has done that before. But she said she is not a fan of it, because it does not look as good to her.
I imagine its because pattern rollers have a similar problem to old games, the texture scale works fine on small things, but on larger scales that repeating pattern starts to become way more obvious and distracts rather then adds to the piece. Those imperfections from hand marking give a more 'natural' look.

TMW a creator puts out a vlog so amazing you have to watch it twice, in a row, to enjoy every intricacy of the artwork. Just incredible, as always.

I am always so excited to see every idea you bring to life! You start from literally simple ideas or sketches and then you go above and beyond to truly bring life to them! The process is always chaotic, but you can't make something great without making a mess first! Or rather, it'll look like a mess first before looking better. Ugh, I can't go to Oslo, but I have half a mind to ask my cousins who do live there to actually see the pieces for me so I can live vicariously through them!

Wow, Martina, this castle diorama is an absolute masterpiece! 😍 The level of detail and creativity you've poured into this project is truly priceless. 🏰💖 It's evident that so much time, strength, and energy went into bringing this magical creation to life, and the result is simply unbelievable! 👏 Your dedication shines through every tiny detail, and the end result is nothing short of amazing. 🌟 This castle is not just a diorama; it's a work of art that captures the imagination. Bravo! 🎨✨

This is not just a simple model or diorama. it's an art. You are also an artist. Some people may throw some paints on a canvas and call the result art. But in the end, they cannot know from the beginning what will happen on the canvas. You can create exactly the idea in your mind. This is art and you are the artist. Congratulations.

I'm a model builder and even though I know that started with cardboard, duct tape, and hot glue. It looks fantastic and if I hadn't watched the start of the process, I would be certain it was cast resin.
Fantastic Job all around. Concept, design, construction, painting.

I love your work, and what you have done with this.
I noticed you were using several products from Woodland scenics. They are a great company.
I would suggest you pick up a copy of their “scenery manual”.
In it you’ll find a number of suggestions that would have made the base scenery, easier, less expensive, and even more realistic.
PVA glue in the quantities being used starts to get expensive. That is why few model railroad people use Glue Shell for anything other than small patches.
I’m looking forward to your next project.

The magnificence of the finished diorama belies its' cardboard, foamboard, glue & paint (and a few other bits) beginning. Your painting is spot on, as always and ads such realism. The foliage looks organic and helps ground everything. The figures and especially the dragon are the cherry on the top. Last, and most important, I would like to put on my sorceress outfit, shrink...a bit ...and move into a tower.
