You have saved my life in the first 45 seconds. "File>save" and it automatically exports an svg file. Who'd have thought?! :D Spent two hours in the export tab making shitty PNGs....!
OMG...I'm not using a cutting machine, but this solved the problem I was experiencing. Scribus not importing my SVG files correctly (so that I can create a CMYK file for printing). THANK YOU!!!!!
I was trying to import my SVG file in Rive and I wasn't able to then I accidentally came across your video. Then I turned all the texts and shapes into vectors and it didn't. I was able to upload it to Rive. Thanks for teaching.
When I upload the svg from Inkscape to Cricut Design Space my design (text and image) don’t stay in place when I go to “make it”. The texts’ letters are all over the place-not in their place on the design. Thank you.
Thank you. However, while I followed you suggestions. I could get my SVG to load properly in LaserGRBL. I did decide to export from Inkscape to PNG and load the PNG instead of SVG and that worked. In my situation, I started with multiple layers and I wonder if that was the root of the issue.
just a question Erica, when you do the step of ungrouping then converting object to path. does it make difference which step to do first? is ungrouping must to be first? The reason I am asking that when i did the scattering project you did in your first webinar for the pink petals with yellow canter, it only worked with me 1 time and then never worked again :) so I am trying to find out what is the missing step or if i did something in the wrong order and that's why i am wondering if ungrouping must be first !. i tried the same project without the yellow circle canter (just petals) and the scattering was successful. thanks
You'll need to ungroup before you perform a function or else the grouping can block that action from taking place. You can always group back again after though like with the flower using the Scatter function you will need to ungroup to convert to a path but always group back before putting it around the circle. Hope that helps!
@@svgme4867 thank you, can i union the (petals + yellow little circle) instead of grouping? i get confused when to do grouping and when to do union! i feel most of the times they give the same result but occasionally not. Also the scattering never works with me if i convert the little yellow circle from object to path- so I converted the petals to path by itself then I attached the yellow circle to the middle of the petals then grouped- not sure if this is the same way you did it
I made a design on Inkscape been trying to upload it to DS but it keeps saying “image to large” I tried different things and nothing is working. Do you know what I’m doing wrong ?
try saving it at 72 dpi if you can. or when starting a new file look for a option that is web friendly. otherwise I would shrink/scale the entire project down to a smaller size. svg are vector files, they can mostly be scaled to any size. but if saved as 72, it has a limit.
Do you happen to have anything regarding getting the stroke to translate into your svg file for some reason it never saves with the stroke and my work around is super drawn out. Ty!
Go to CHANGE INKSCAPE SETTING TO WORK BETTER WITH CRICUT DESIGN SPACE. BY MAKING WITH MARILYN. She shows how to do it on a Mac. I’m on a Mac too, but after I do all the steps and then she says she goes to the desktop, and gets the file. my file are is not there. don’t know where to find the file on my Mac. so do you think maybe you could try it. and see if it works for you.and then maybe you could help me since we’re both on a MacBook?????
Thank you for your clear, concise explanation! You’re a great teacher👏👏👏
Dear friend, you literally just saved my life. You are a genius!!!! Greetings from Peru
I have watched so many videos on crIcut maker and inkscacpe, you are by far the the best teacher I have found. Thank you
Thank you for making this video. I have had a lot of problems with bringing it into Design space.

I've been an email subscriber for the longest. I hope that this channel goes from strength to strength.
Awesome! Thanks for being a long time subscriber!

Thanks so much that was great information.

You have to do more step to fix them .
Once again excellent tutorial 👍🏻👍🏻ty
Thank you. Now my svg works in another tool perfectly :)

Thank you! Clear & quick tutorial! Subscribed!
thank you! it a lot simpler than converting in Illustrator. I'm going to give this a try.
Hi, mam, how to store design in inscakpe so that I can import in any other project later on.
So I've followed the steps and saved it as an svg. But when I go to upload it to cricut it doesn't recognize it. What am I missing?
thank you so much love!!!
My image will not save. I’ve followed each step several times. I’m still getting the same DS error with no image
Thank you so much for this video!

thank you so much, you solved my issue
I have done every step you did and it still isn’t uploading to Cricut
Do you know how to change the default settings .So the canvas will be at 12 x 12 so when I go to Cricuit design space you’ll be at the right size
Whats the difference between "Union, to weld them together" as you say, and simply "Group"-ing them together again?
thank you so much for this great tutorial
Thank you so very much for making thus video One question, how do I crop in Inkscape?
I was getting so frustrated with my SVGs not working. I forgot that even if it's already one color, I have to trace a bitmap. *facepalm* THANK YOU!

I think you have to convert the stroke to path as well. It's under the path functions.
@@rodneycassidy6037 thanks gna try it!
Did you design the original image in procreate? I'm a beginner and I'm totally lost.
Thank you 😭😭🌸🌸🌸
This helped me a lot..Thanks
When I try to open my svg in the circut app it turns green but then does nothing. No error info or anything.
Same issue here. Did you ever figure it out?
@@adijat7508 sadly no. I have not found a solution other than to make the file a PNG.
I even rolled back and tried the older version but still could not successfully create a working file.
@@MistyAnthony it's so frustrating. I'll reply back if I figure it out

download is for a Mac, can't use it, but thanks!
