- My take on a CO2 Pinewood Derby car based on a normal BSA Pinewood kit and a bicycle tire inflating valve.
The car flew off the track on two of our four runs. It was very impressive and fast.
Get the Genuine Innovations bike tire inflating valve here amzn.to/2UAng8v
These co2 cartridges worked better than the Genuine Innovations ones amzn.to/2MO1RWD
I used this to drill the axle holes amzn.to/2HKbgzE
Paint was VHT Burnt Copper amzn.to/2G9r5hQ
I took some inspiration from this video • How to Build a Fast co...
We made something like this in the 90’s but we faced the CO2 backwards and used a nail on a spring to pierce it , the thing went 100+ mph.
3:58 , first of all I want to say thank you for linking the tire valve. I’ve spent 2 days looking for what it was and couldn’t find it anywhere but here. Secondly I know that it was said in a comment above however is there anyway you could demonstrate how the valve comes apart? I don’t want to buy one and then try and take it apart and ruin it. Thanks!
Indont exactly remember how the valve comes apart. I'm pretty sure one piece just slides off the other. It would be pretty difficult to ruin
crazy I made one of these back in 1977 yea................. I lost front wheel came in second.
Yeah, it worked okay. It actually blasted off the track on two of the four runs I made. My car was definitely the coolest of all the no rules cars.
How did you disassemble the spring assembly for the tire inflator? Cut it?
If I remember correctly you can just pull the valve apart and slip the spring off. I still have the spring. Good luck!
Really love the repurposed parts - pens, binder clips, D-ring... Awesome! Check out my outlaw vids!
Thanks! I'm about finished with this years outlaw! I will check out your stuff.
Can you provide a link to the gas valve set up please?
Hi, it is this one amzn.to/3vPnkcA
