- Hi everyone! Today I'm FINALLY revealing to you all where my I Got Rice tic came from...omg. My MOST iconic vocal tic with my Tourette's is revealed to you in today's video and OMG I can't even believe how embarrassing it is. Everyone wants to know where Ticcing Together's I GOT RICE tic came from. I get questions ALL THE TIME about this vocal tic, and here's the story you've all been waiting for. I'm NOT proud LOL.

As a girl with Tourette's, I would love to spread awareness and education about my disorder, as I feel it is quite misunderstood in today's society. The media has made it out to be a swearing disorder only, which is far from true. I hope this video will educate you on Tourette Syndrome and tic disorders! Life with Tourettes can be difficult, but just know that we're the same as everyone else...except for the fact we tic like clocks! (:

omg the origin of tics sometimes. i got a tic of "your mum" when I was 18 because it started as a joke (i learned about yo momma jokes) and then turned into a tic. that was soo annoying. I would just follow it up with something nice to not insult anyone (your mum! ... is a very nice lady) which led to an inside joke in the group that I was in love with everyone's mums. The tic doesn't really happen anymore which i'm very grateful for haha!
When i first heard your “I got rice” tic, I was caught off guard and didn’t knew how I should react, I then watched your video about whether people are allowed to find humor within the tics, and I allowed myself to laugh for how random it is. Your videos are awesome. I think you should have merch with “I Got Rice” on it. Take advantage of that bad memory 😊😉 (maybe you already do)

true story: we were driving home the other night, and actually had this conversation in the car when we said “where do you think the ‘i got rice’ tic came from?” and then proceeded to make theories for the remainder of the car ride 😂

I have a necklace with a vial, and it has a grain of rice in it which has my name written on it. So yeah, grains of rice necklaces are cool items for merch or something.

I love that you’re honest about the possible origin even if it’s not what you’d prefer. You could have not told anyone and make something else up, but you chose to be honest, and that’s awesome.
Stims are not the same as tics but a few of my favorite stims come from a particularly awful ex so I kind of relate to the feeling of like "something very associated with me comes from a person I have painful memories about". I feel like I've kind of reclaimed them by now, though

Old boyfriend may like rice, but you Got rice (and none for him) try to think of the rice as being your fiance, you got rice, rice is love. Old bf likes it, but you have it now with the one your with. Just trying to put a spin on it to make you feel better about it.

Of all your tics, that’s my favorite. But every time you say it, I think “I got beans.” Beans and Rice!!! Story is not what I expected. Just such a casual thing for your brain to create a tic. Really shows how real tics are created at random with no real reason.

Heyo, thanks for sharing your story, I can kind of relate in a way, I get loud random singular hiccups and I remember my first loud hiccup and the story isn't exciting at all ~ I was hanging out with my friend and she asked me what the time was, I looked at my phone and said "it's 10 to yuuUUT" it's so strange knowing the time of my first hiccup, it was at 10 to 8
"I got rice" lives in my brain rent free ever since I saw the Korean BBQ video because they brought you rice to the table. I eat a lot of rice. It cracked me up.

Relatable! Especially if they say it in a certain tone, I have to copy. None ever stuck with me that long nor was it a full sentence, I think the longest one I had was when I was around 12 and I developed 'eggs' while I was baking cupcakes with my brother. I have more motor tics to vocal but 'eggs' only lasted around 5 months x

Well it's different but: I have seen people stop stottering, when they were playing instruments and sang. This seems to occupy the brain, so that the singing is not being interrupted by stottering at all.
Have you noticed something similar to this with you and your tics?

Were to treated bad in school for your Tourette's?
Hi! I can answer this as I have Tourette’s too. At the start of the year people thought I was just a pick me. They got used to it as I explained and teachers were chill about it. Mostly with substitutes is we’re I’m treated the worst. I remember two years ago I had a sub in math and I was ticcing. Now I have copalaria which mean I say curse words. I get a lot of flack for it in public and for people who don’t understand. The sub sent me to the principal as I kept saying the f slur over, and over. She got let of with a warning but that’s my worst school experience! I also once got kicked of a train for swearing near kids.
