I have an original blue java from the late 80s.
It was fun back in the day when we loved Sanborn and his dukoffs. 😀
I sounds like you really own that tone and attitude from that mouthpiece. Great for you!
I remember the first time I played a jumbo Java mouthpiece, it came with my school issued yanagisawa tenor for jazz band. Wow! It made me a believer in the Java line of mp’s!
School yanagisawas that’s crazy
@@willmigas8126 I know! When I first saw them I had no idea what yani was! 😅 obviously I found out pretty quickly just how good they really are
@@chagazzo niceee
@@willmigas8126 my school has this selmer sba tenor and I have no idea how we afford it lmao
I'm guessing someone donated it but idk why they wouldnt keep or sell it at the very least
@@gohan55550000 Depends on the size of the school and budget but Yamahas and selmers are standard. Yanagisawas are incredible
Everything you said matches my experience with the tenor Mouthpiece in the 80´s. I have friend who is 82 using it on tenor for sometime because it is easier for his embouchure and lung capacity. He sounds good on it because of the gentler possibilities it has. Plus he is a heavy weight tenor player.
A sensational video as always! I've not got a huge amount of experience with the Vandoren mouthpieces, but I play a V5 A28 and I love it! Wish it came in bluuueeee 😃
Nice one!
I still have a Jumbo Java T97 I played for years - great mouthpiece!
I really enjoyed the Jumbo Java Mouthpieces for My Alto and Tenor since August. I really like the sound of brightness and resonance and also I really like sound of Pop, Smooth Jazz, and K-Pop. And Also I play in the Jazz Band with my Jumbo Java on Tenor as well with Java Green Reeds and including my alto as well. I really enjoyed the mouthpiece for the Gods sake. Brighter but Beautiful as the Goat or even an angel.
You sound great!
The tenor Jumbo was an INSTANT switch for me after over 10 years on a Jody jazz CHI
Great Warren Hill sound.
I had an early '80's edition of the Jumbo Java bought new from my first sax teacher. Sold it to one of my students 15 years ago for $50.
Gonna get this soon
Thanks for uploading your review of this lovely piece. I will surely get one for myself.
I bought this mouthpiece because of Warren Hill, the greatest I have ever played
Pour moi un des meilleurs becs pour le sax alto dans son genre
Thank you, which microphone is that?
The only piece I use! Rate them highly. Great for R and B music. Do they do a tenor version in blue?
Unfortunately not no :( However, if Vandoren ever do decide to make a tenor blue, we'll be the first to know about it!
They used to, but unfortunately not anymore :/
What saxophone do you use? Thanks
How would you compare this to the drake sanborn model in flexibility to use it in more styles? Is the sanborn model more easy to play?
I use exact same mouthpiece on my alto sax. The original vintage model though. I was wondering if the Vandoren V5 S35 soprano sax mouthpiece would give me same sound on soprano. Or can you suggest a vandoren soprano mouthpiece with the same character
i know it more work for you but when you do mouthpiece tests can you do them on 4 horns. 1. New Yamaha , 2. New Selmer 3. MarkVI 4 SBA.
I'm a relatively newer sax player, just been playing for middle school band for 2 years, and I've seen and really wanted a blue one, but they only make em for Altos 😭
The Main thing is that its blue. Forget about the Sound....
Hello, i would like see this mouthpiece for tenor 🙂
You can right here! (in black...): sax.co.uk/collections/vandoren-mouthpieces/products/vandoren-jumbo-java-ebonite-tenor-saxophone-mouthpiece
Would you sax it’s more classical or jazzy mouthpiece
definitely jazzy, funk, pop, rock not classical 🙂
Exactly what Patrick said!
Is the same Jumbo java but the color?
Whats your type of sax
I'm from Brazil. If I buy it (or get it as a kakakakak gift), will you ship to my country?
We can! It is a bit difficult due to Brazilian import tax law, so please contact help@sax.co.uk for more information!
How much
Will they make it for TENOR? Thanks in advance.
They have it in black for tenor
They do it in black! Here's a link: sax.co.uk/collections/vandoren-mouthpieces/products/vandoren-jumbo-java-ebonite-tenor-saxophone-mouthpiece
@@dragonknite314 I know they have it in black, I want it in blue. 👍🏼👍🏼
I use zame
Looks and sounds nice, but haven't they just copied the Berkeley Brazil ? Is there much difference ? Anyone played both ?
Me with a AL3
Personal timestamp for myself @3:19
The ultra bright tone of this mouthpiece lacks the lower frequencies, to the listener, it can sound thin, but to the player, they will think it's more powerful when in reality, its less powerful.
All depends who’s playing it . Some people can’t handle it and some can
@@jdgoldberg7634 exactly, most people can't handle it , so they will sound ducky ,and out of tune .
@@grantkoeller8911 you can apply that to any mouthpiece. Fyi lots of pros play them for a modern sound . An amateur will sound like an amateur on a Meyer or c star .there is nothing inherently wrong with the mouthpiece. In fact vandoren pieces are excellent. Just practice more and then try one 😂
Its the same mouthpiece as the black one but 50 bucks more? dang.
People going crazy over a mouthpiece - health care already overloaded and now this.
Another cheeky remark - if you want to sound like a soprano/sopranino, why not just buy one?
Of course, Jim's playing is as brilliant as ever and illustrates excellent tonal control.
We're very lucky to have Jim!
Man, I'm just tryin' to sound like Michael Brecker. Not the sun.
А ты можешь поиграть мягко без визга?
All buzz and no tone no chops required. Jim is a good player but hate this sound. Gerald Albright is as contemporary as it gets but doesnt need to sound like this.
Have you tried it?
we have lived in an parallel saxophone universe for decades. some like edge, some like robustness with some subtone.
The 2 camps seem to ignore the other. cant do both ways at once.
@@wheelman1232 I owned a bellite 7 for years when I played a DG traditional on tenor(pre brecker model) played the others not very difficult to control .I just decided I wanted more core to my sound no matter what "everybody" in the studio was playing I meant no chops needed for the third and fourth octave to op right out I just dont like the buzz sound of an A45 and I've been playing for 50 urs so I can shape my sound pretty well without a massive baffle. I do play pop and funk and fusion for $ with rubber pieces Ralph Bowen's tenor playing mad me try java and jumbo java on tenor and alto I didnt like them but he sounds incredible on them. He's a lot better than me and 90% of everybody else😁
