Fantastic job Ian, even when you think the band is dead, you never know how many operators are just listening, loved your video, cheers and 73’s, Sam, 🇦🇺
@@ianxfs Wish I had room for the DX Commander, Ian. Those kind of short, but mutually respectful and priceless exchanges with fellow hams across the water really do highlight the class side of the hobby. Great operating. 👍 73
Great work Ian! All 'real' DX contacts too.. by that I mean both sides having similar levels of equipment, love it when that happens specially with the SFI index right now.
James Hickman Yes, it was a nice surprise James. Shame I didn’t get chance to video the others. One was running 1.1Kw and was amazed at what I had at my end 😁
Good job Ian. There is always someone out there on voice/CW. I think FT8 will fizzle out soon and folk will be scrambling away from ‘074’ once they realise there are some conversations to be had. Voice portable is right up my street. Hope to be on ‘an island’ this Thursday lunchtime, probably 40m
Great contacts. I never think to go on 17 since the propagation is so bad, but now since the one contact said to look on the digital bands I will have to look in to that. 74 de KG7LOI.
Yes Clark. There was the sole Russian station I worked and I heard a US station work him, so I moved up the band a bit and put out a call. The same US station found me and then it took off from there 👍🏻
Nothing like having a band to yourself. These conditions often happen when i am in Papua New Guinea right on the equator. The propagation tends to run around the equator. It normally like a switch though, it can be roaring through and almost instantly close down...... cheers.
