Wonderful documentary Doug. As the founder/administrator of The 1964-65 New York World's Fair Facebook Group of which you have contributed numerous posts, I can truly say that the long-deserved attention will be forthcoming as a result of this documentary, adding to the total views of this remarkable piece, raising public awareness of what Mitch Silverstein, Johnny Piro, Richard N. Post and so many others have accomplished through their perseverance and determination in the preservation and restoration of the New York State Pavilion. Thank You.

I remember it from '64 as a kid.
I'm glad they're restoring this beautiful structure.

Went in '65 with my parents. I was 9. I don't think we ever strolled over to this Pavilion because I would have remembered something so colorful and so cool. Wish we did.

Thanks so much for posting this. I ride my bike every weekend during the summer to the park, and was happy to see all the attention finally being given to the Pavilion this year. Also happy to have witnessed the painting of the crown this summer. The Pavilion is looking so much better. I hope they paint the towers soon. It really is a sad shame that NY let this iconic structure sit and rot for 50 years. A true shame.

Thank you for sharing this Doug! I grew up off of Jewel Ave. I was born during the second year of the Fair so I was not there though my family and some of their friends did attend. I am obsessed with the Fairgrounds! I left NYC in 88 and hung out in that park for years watching the changes! I also remember vague flashes of seeing the roof falling off the NYS Pavilion in the late 60s-early 70s? I'm so excited that this landmark is finally being given it's due! Wow! Keep us updated!

I don't remember being at the fair, cause I was 3 in 1964, but I have vivid memories of the buildings and even the map during the 70s when I rode my mini bike they the park, and was always amazed with the towers, still waiting to c what's happening cause the money is now there, the paint is done, need upgraded electrical and stopping the flooding in the base of the buildings, would love to see the elevators replaced and put something there, even a cafe, they brought back the hi line

My parents were married in October 1965 and took their honeymoon there. (I was born 9 months later. Hmmmm)
Dad was a car guy, so in the album my mom put together,(that I now have) are two pix of the Chrysler Turbine car and inside the G.M. pavilion.

    Hey Doug!
I really think you should look into doing a full-fledged documentary on the 1964 NYWF. You did such a wonderful job with this almost 20 minute video, it left me wanting to see more about the history of the entire site and the ongoing restoration. I hope you'll look into doing it, Doug. It would be a great complimentary/supplemental documentary to support the people working on the restoration, and could also be a potent recruitment and donation-getting tool for the project. Just my two cents, brother. :)
BTW, keep doing the DrexFiles! They're excellent fun!

Some people that from the past and present they're getting older and today right now there's nothing left for the future but however if you got got some new ideas using for the past present and future it will come true but you need to teach other people that where you live in the front of past and present you could teach those people and other students for the future they will come out of a new ideas using the same material with the same shape but sometimes could using the different shapes or any sizes and it will be my way better person and to bring those people some a new ideas that you could work together if you could you could teach them and the people will do understand that what you live in for the past and present that you was a small child that you remember all the stuff I think it would be come true and the people will listen and they're going to new ideas and new ways that work together and especially of Queens in New York City you know and I know that I saw your video that you're making some news new style but using the same start from the older ones the odor from the past but if you Stitch something new students and new teacher's rookies that will come true that they will come out using the same colors the same material but nude shape and maybe someday that New York World's Fair will come back very soon but I really like to see the World's Fair will come back like before the the environment for the ecosystem like a beautiful grass beautiful different colors of trees anything and one day you will bring it back some flowers as well but however some from the past is gone but others survive past present and future they're holding today
