Hey Izzy I’m glad this campaign gets to continue!!! I really am enjoying it and I hope this start is allowing you to help feel bette about the campaign
You're father loves you Faramir, and he will realise until the end. Gandalf to Faramir (3th movie) Hey Izzy, happy to see you keep fighting with the faction. Respect ❤️ I can only say as my nordic ancestors might have yelled before battle: - "Fight for Glory or Valhalla!"
A good name for Minas Tirith would be Arnu Zadna which translated from Adûnaic to English is Kings house as this is the house of your king, your capital.
Great start! Very well played strategically and tactically, I actually like the compromises you make as well for roleplaying and not too much cheesing. 👌 Hopefully Mordor won't give you too much trouble after you cleaned up Gondor around Minas Tirith. Looking forward to the next episode!
I'd also like to recommend you keeping halberds out of spearwall formation and guard mode (unless you want to them to hold the line) so they can support each other better and not die as much, since if they were in spearwall and guard mode, they'd most likely fight 1 on 1 and not come out on top; just something I observed on the effectiveness of halberds :)
I may be wrong, but I think starting in minas tirith is madnes, cus soon you'll face full might of mordor, gondor and I think rohan will aslo attack you.
@@IzzyTotalWar Hail high lord i pray that victory be brought to our plate soon for dark have been the shadows of late and few allies and many foes i pray that our path is not mislead again!
I like the Idea of Minas Aru, or "Tower of the King". Continues the naming convention while giving it the proper Numenorean twist, just like you conscripting the Gondorian forces XD
Great restart. I agree with mopping up all those random armies first. After that, go for Eastern Osgiliath and get an alliance with Mordor (along with map info from them). In Minas Tirith, maybe focus on upgrading the town hall or whatever gives you recruitment slots so you can just spit out troops to send through Gondor. You already have an alliance with Isengard so you can always send an army with spears and halberds to get whatever scraps you can in Rohan so you can get their units as well.
I'm glad you chose to restart the AA campaign. I was hoping you'd try attacking Dol Amroth again, but this is a much, much better way to start things. Maybe consider getting an alliance with Mordor after taking Cair Andros and West Osgiliath? Just so they don't decide to attack you before you've beaten Gondor and Dol Amroth.
Love your campaign, you should use your starting general more like you did with the Rohan Campaign. In the previous Version of the AA campaign, they were just used as governor. They are the king’s son ! The glory of battle is for them not some others lower general.
Minas Pharazon! The Tower of Pharazon is what Minas Tirith formerly Minas Anor should be renamed to after of course the true King of Numenor from whom the Ar Adunaim take their name. Side note for the next intro you should do some talking about the return of the King to Gondor, because get this according to the lore written for the Ar Adunium Ar Gimalkhad is a direct descendent of Queen Beruthiel and King Tarrannon Falastur of Gondor so by the bloodline Gimalkhad is as much a rightful king as Aragorn perhaps he has even a stronger claim as he is a direct descendent of both the lines of the King's Men and of the Faithful as the Kings of Gondor were descendants of Anarion son of Elendil and Tarrannon was a direct descendent whom because of his wife's exile never had a child and was succeeded by his nephew, also Tarrannon was the great-grandson of Tarostar Romencidal I who defeated the Easterlings so decisively he took the name Romencidil (East-Foe in Adunaic) so attacking Rhun would be an interesting path too. I mention this lore as it's the chief reason people in Gondor are willing to take up arms for Aduniam because essentially you've just caused a second Kin-Strife (Gondor had one and that is where the Black Numenoreons of Umber originate from) in Gondor and with the death of the steward there will be those who will rally to the true King of Gondor and of a New Numenorean Empire
"Sum elf pooftah turn'd up at umbar 'nd sed he wuz in charge now. Me 'nd Gazmilgar went fooken mental, caved 'iz fooken 'ead in then we sailed to fooken mithlond 'nd torched the place"
I did this too. Both Mordor and Gondor became my enemy. And they attacked me with big armies in every turn. So I didn't hold for long. It's just too much time to go up there and after it is too much time to get units due to culture.
The AA army is just so damn aesthetic. Red and black, helmet crests, etc. It reminds me of the goofy submod for Fourth Age Total War that put the vanilla Roman roster in as a horde faction lol
Just for some lore precisions about Berùthiel : "She was the wife of King Tarannon Falastur, and was noted as being "nefarious, solitary, and loveless". It is therefore of no surprise that she and Tarannon produced no heirs" But I like your idea better
@@yodapima35 Better to live one day as a lion than a century as a sheep right ? Same thing over here, except that I'd like to see him transform the AA's in a thalassocracy with the inland nations as mere vassals.
32:47 @Izzy yeah they aren’t pikemen but keep them in their pike formation with defensive mode on and preferably stationary but if you give them an attack order if you want full efficiency March them to combat in pike formation and in defensive mode and don’t tell them to attack when they are right in front or engaged with the enemy it can sometimes make them turn around and be dumb.
Like Melkor and Aprens already said before, keep the halberds in shieldwall and guardmode, and let them defend rather than march them into the enemy. The latter means that the enemy can get close and personal to fight, whereas the former should mean that the halberd animation works better, and the AP damage should help in killing the opponents, too. As for strategy, I think locking Eastern Osgilliath down in a siege would be worth it. That ensures that the doomstack cannot easily crossover, and if the garrison does a sally-out to pull the doomstack in, you can always retreat if need be. You want that doomstack to stay stranded in Ithilien as long as possible, getting whittled away against Mordor. Near Minas Tirith, I would mop up those smaller armies. You don't want them to combine to full stacks and start taking your settlements down one by one. While it would be fun to see a Minas Tirith defense, they'd be quite likely to go for W. Osgilliath, and that map is a rather painful to defend by comparison to most Gondorian town maps. No OP towers on that one.
@@directrulefromgamerchair3947 Agreed. For now, though, it is more important to let that doomstack waste itself in keeping Mordor busy. That doomstack is still enough to stomp over Western Osgilliath and cause trouble.
@@IzzyTotalWar treat halberdiers like you would treat pikemen if they were balanced. Don't break formation, let the enemy come to you, don't try and pull through or move them while in combat. They aren't axemen, while having AP they aren't aggressive infantry. Basically set them up in a line and move your other troops around them.
I was inspired by this to attempt the Dol Amroth start. After losing the RNG dice roll on a spy's gate opening ability, I triggered the Dol Amroth doom stack one turn before destroying Dol Amroth as a faction. The doom stack used it's might to take over a fort where I was hiding the Weeabos, the 2H sword guys and the mace n board guys for free upkeep. It sucked losing my 3 strongest non bodyguard units, but the now rebel doomstack is just camped out in the fort now. They're ignoring the world. The energy is like, "keep Dol Amroth, we've got a better keep in the woods with blackjack and hookers."
Interesting return to your initial plan although that Gondor doesn't get doom stacks for W Osgilith or Caran Andros if you take them helps greatly. You could have a problem if Mordor took the latter and that prompted a doom-stack as that could head for you rather than Mordor. As someone else said you have put yourself into a very tight spot however. If you hold W Osgilth and take Caran Andros you make yourself No. 1 target for Mordor once it clears the east bank while still fighting Gondor and possibly a bit later on Isengard as well. That would be a very nasty position, especially if it happens before you can get enough places with culture high enough to start pumping out your higher tier units. Also while your doing all that your not really got the time to develop the economy that much so money could well be an issue. This could be very challenging even through Minas Tirth is a bloody tough place to storm. I rather like your optimism early on. We're just attacked Gondor and seized their capital so I have high hopes of getting a ceasefire with them. As your noticed already the Xbowmen are very, very powerful units and they can even stand in melee for a while if caught.
Well if you want to see how another Ar-Adunaim campaign is going check out UmadCommander's. He's just polished off Dol Amroth with barely a struggle. They just completely caved in without a fight when he sieged Dol Amroth and Edhellond. It was quite anti climactic
Push the rebel settlements to your east and south. Also take the one rebel settlement to your west. This enables you to get different units, for you are uniting the different Rhûnic clans. Your only real enemy is Dorwinion. It might be a good idea to make war on them early on. Good luck!
