    Nice lure, I build similar lures with round nose pliars by hand. I like to use 1/16 oz and 1/32 oz bullet weights as lure bodies. I like to paint them, and use round cutouts of lure tape, I make with hole punches, and use UV resin as a clear coat to lock everything in.

    Great video thanks. With a single hook (local regs) this would be great in NC streams

      you can change hook out by simply choping the hook off at the eye on the hook and getting a small hook about the same length as the spinner wire take a punch and open the eye a little then slip it in place on the loop where other hook was and crimp closed

    Not makeable for 80 cents anymore! Janns has those spinner blades 5 per bag for 5 bucks. So each blade is a DOLLAR. Blade clevis hook body beads piece of wire. probably close to 2 dollars each. However store tackle is 5 - 6 bucks per piece and UP, so if you lose a lot of tackle to snags it can be worthwhile.

      Why does that not surprise me? Everything has gone up so much in price.
      It has been 3 years, but that still seems like a lot. Thanks for the heads up. I changed my video description.

    Great how-to video, I needed this ! I lost about 8 Mepps spinners this season and it is getting expensive so I need to start making my own. At ~2:09 you mention you are using #10 wire - can you check that please as that seems way too thin (#10 AWG = .102"). Netcraft only lists .024 wire and LPO only stocks .026 wire.
    Thanks.

    • @timgrant6939
      @timgrant6939  Рік тому

      They don't use the AWG system. I don't know if it's there own system or not. AFW #10 is .024. .026 will work fine.

      AFW?? Had to look that one up - American Fishing Wire !!! Can't seem to find a conversion chart though . . . but, I learn something new every day, sometimes twice a day. OK then, .024 works great for me. Thanks Tim, you're the best.

    Where can you buy wire ? What gauge ?

    • @timgrant6939
      @timgrant6939  Рік тому

      You can buy wire at these and other tackle shops.

      www.tacklewarehouse.com
      Use what ever size wire you think you need. For a small lure like this I’m probably using .010 gauge.
      AFW (American fishing wire) #10 is .010 and 124LB test.

    Good video. But no, don't use that stuff to dress your hook. Use head cement or the cheaper option is go to the $1 Store & buy a bottle of clear nail polish.

    Mepps probably have patent on the French blade so the ones that sell these blades will have to pay
