The Electronic Stability Control in the ETK car was almost constantly cutting drive to avoid spinning tires after you busted your FR wheel angel, that's why you felt like you ran out of gas a few times. Edit: You can turn it off by clicking on it until it goes gray and says it's off in the top left, i presume you knew that and had it on drift mode for the RP at the gas station.
