Also, what other vehicles could I get a transmission like this from, like for instance from a junkyard, etc.?
Of you got 700r4 thats good in gas coz there is OD..... i have 88 G20 too....scroll down you will see.... don't mount different trans coz more modification..... junkyard hard tp find good 700r4 ....rebuild what u got

Yes you are correct. Larry I just came back in from looking at mine. Same exact one in the video. K is for k series they are a little beefier. The guy I bought mine from for 500 bucks the whole truck about 8 yrs ago. N e ways it's a 1991 k-1500 4x4 with a 305 tbi injection. Had a bad tcm throttle control module. The torque converter was swapped on it and when I got it still have it the guy couldn't get the bell housing on but I just noticed that torque converter came unseated "was never seated correctly and I had gears one morning and none at the end of the day." Total tweak job. The cross member to tranny bolts are about an inch off and missing so I'm hoping to just try to reseat it but gonna do some research before I do n e thang. Might need new torque converter I'm sure and I remember the guy telling me the tweaker couldn't get the bell housing on.
Lucky that's all the tweaker touched because trucks in great shape no body damage and the interior is immaculate and no cracks in the dash because previous owners one of them got one of those dash protectors but I love the track. It's extended cab with a short bed too.😊

If u can just go 5.3l ls simple and newer lots of power
That k in GM trucks was for 4 wheel drive. Looks like that I think. C was 2 wheel drive and G was for Van . So I have been told.
