Yeah, the general theory I got I just started the video. But they all died in the accident. Including the cop, she crash landed hence the beginning head injury. They're stuck in that purgatory.
That's why they were in the same room but couldn't see one another and the differing looks. The cop and husband are exploring the living world, while she's trapped there. Since she's dead, no, she cannot escape. The daughter only got power from the world, she wasn't the worldly power because her power only manifested. But she doesn't play Gatekeeper.
And also it added a lot of character to Harry to me, like he didn't just cancel his wife's card and sit at home, he *went out* to try and bring them home (plus it's easy exposition from the cop)

The music in this film is so haunting and evocative for me. One of my favorite films. The sense of being trapped by the unknown as it constantly builds and builds until it nearly drives you mad with each rising crescendo. I’ve struggle with depression and the whole experience in the film could be a metaphor for what depression can do to the mind, minus the witch and cult stuff lol The forms and monsters chasing rose being the embodiment of mental illness symptoms that change and stalk the mind in a constant desire to kill you and drag you into hell. The symptoms appear and disappear similar to how the hell dimension comes and goes with the sounding of the alarm.
When silent hill came out I was very young and was terrified of the game. When I herd a movie was being made I didn’t watch it until 2008 and when I did , I tried the game as well and fell in love with the franchise. Great video bro. Keep it up.👍🏻👍🏻
I would love to see Silent Hill TV Series. Look what Netflix did with Castlevania. Man, good and passionate production behind an adaption that would explore the happenings before the first game (Origins isn't canon as it contradicts some elements from original games). My idea as follows... Season I: A new "Origins" adaption which explores the history of the town, residents who experience all weird mishappenings and the cult that lurks behind the curtains. Further seasons adapt the stories from the Team Silent games except they would be greatly expanded. Every season is treated the same way like in Fargo that has seasons set in different periods of time but are still deeply connected to each other.
I feel like there were A LOT of similarities between Silent Hill and Nightmare on Elm Street (evil janitor & child(ren), character burned by fire, having a festering hatred, THEN approached by evil spirit and subsequently making deal with, inescapable dream dimension existing during unconsciousness) Not the same storyline I know, but similar in too many ways to be coincidence.
This is a rare example of a movie that lives up to the game it's portraying. Genuinely terrifying. I remember watching this at the movies and feeling like the darkness was creeping off the screen and into the theater.😂
Silent Hill was my favorite movie as a kid. I thought the universe was just so cool. Yeah it was scary but it didn't actually scare me? I watched the sequel and HATED it. Silent Hill is a great adaptation.
I agree with you. This is one of the best video game adaptations of all time. It was 2000 when i bought a PS 1 with resident evil, dino crisis and silent hill among my first games. Silent hill brought me many sleepless nights. Hey man, thanks for the nostalgia.
This is still one of my favorite movies and it's 2019 and I still love it I can watch it over and over and never get tired of it. I love the storyline I love how she got revenge at the end very freaky though.
I actually liked the scenes with Sean Bean's character as they showed Silent Hill working outside of normal reality thus adding to the sense of hopelessness for Rose's situation
Thank you so much for making this! I love your content so much! I am suggesting The Cube film as something for you to look into. It’s an older one, but I couldn’t help but be enthralled by the idea behind the setting
Never knew that Centralia was the inspiration for Silent Hill. But it makes it even creepier for me considering I live just about 2-3 hours away from Centralia.
This movie was truly freaky as hell. It was very *very* different from the game but it still has that intensity it’s known for, knowing the silence could disappear any moment and the sirens could come soon, leaving you on edge through the whole ordeal.
I love this movie SO much! One of the best plot/story lines in a horror film that I enjoyed so much, I could never get tired of rewatching it! This movie had one of the best and most satisfying endings (in my opinion), especially for a horror film. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for being positive about this movie. It managed to do something different and separate itself from the source material, and it's never easy to make a transition from video game to live action movie, and I think I this film was actually better than alot of people give it credit for. Edit: the sequel was utter trash and I wont defend it at all.

I swear, whatever game or movie I wonder about, you have probably covered it already. This channel is awesome and I absolutely love your dedication to making informative videos.
Even though I haven't played the games I agree with him, it feels like the movie really captured the essence of the game. One of the few movies based on game that is worth watching.
Thus is one of my all time favorite movies and games from my childhood but i never really understood it......but u really just explained it so perfectly
Harry was a good part in my opinion, he allowed the following coverage of the events unfolding. Showing the audience the surreal and supernatural distancing that Rose was experiencing from a lovers perspective, from feeling her shadow in the hallways, to seeing the door open in the ending. It shows the firsthand fall into a different world and her entrapment in a plain far from reality or fiction, but from an outside perspective. The ending was chilling when I first saw it, and Harry had a real part in why. She was gone, but right in front of him all along.
This movie is still one of my favorite horror/psychological movies of all time and was actually the first one I ever watched. And when I just looked further into the themes and what the creatures mean.....oh man it just disturbed me more than anything
Fantastic explanation well done! I have seen this film many times and always had same questions which you have covered breathlessly. I too hated the death of the police woman, I really liked her character and how she protected Rose. I will now love this film more now I know the meanings behind it now. Thankyou again
Lol, looking through the comments, I am so glad to see so many comments discuss the fact that this wasn't intended to be a jump scare tactic, but a real dive into the manifestations of a disturbed and broken mind I absolutely love how much there is to discover, to talk about, and how this movie isn't skin deep. It seems that so much in this movie has psychological roots and a symbology like no other movie I have seen. Would I say it's scary? Nah, unsettling, sure, but rich with story and flavor.
I think this was one of the most successful movie-video-game adaptations out there in that it really tried to stay true to the lore and for the fans rather than make it for the mass audience. As a Silent Hill fan, I loved it, but I guess all my playing of SH also made it easier for me to get the ending compared to friends.
How does it stay true to the lore? The towns power existed way before Alessa, Pyramid Head is solely connected to James and has no reason to exist in this movie, There is no unborn god, Dahlia is now a victim, Silent Hill is not an abandoned town. The burning of Alessa was a ritual, not an execution. I could go on, I enjoyed this movie visually but if you’re saying it follows lore, I have to question if you’ve played the games.
I actually liked this, for the most part. Though, I wish it would have been Sean bean that went after Cheryl, like in the game. I really did enjoy that they used the music from the games, though!
Great job as usual boyo, Silent Hill is one of my favourite game films. Any chance you could do a video on The Wind That Shakes the Barley or the virus from REC?
Thanks buddy. I actually had to study the Wind that shakes the Barley back at acting school to nail down my Irish accent for a play and loved it. I'll add it to the list as it explores much of Ireland's tumultuous history. Also rec is on the list! thanks for the great suggestions mate and have a nice day :)
The first movie silent hill is by far the best adaptation of the horror, supernatural and survival horror game ever I've seen, christophe gans and Roger avary did Amazing job to created the horror survival and especially the special effects too😎👍
Silent Hill, the first psychological horror game that made me fall in love with the genre, i was just 9 when a cousin brought his PS1 and the game on a summer, we played at nights and my gawd those were the days, a shame that the series has come to what it is. May the gods damn Konami to the Otherworld and may Samael torments their souls for all eternity xD
This is a rare video game adaptation that hits all the markers of it’s original counterpart, and it succeeds where the Resident Evil movies starring Mila Jovovich failed. Silent Hill kept the core features of the game strong in the movie. The sense of dread and mystery, and the feeling of almost utter hopelessness, with the paranoia that the sirens bring. Whilst I’m not sure if the origins of the Ash and its creatures was ever explained in the games, Alessa/Sharon provides a surprisingly wonderful explanation to the Blight. It actually makes sense that the confused terror and rage of a child would create the creatures such as the living dolls and faceless nurses
In the game Alessas mother Dahlia tortures her in order to draw back Cheryl/Shannon to the town, the burning is actually a ritual to birth an evil god but it goes wrong because Alessas soul is divided (part of it is in Cheryl/Shannon) and so she has an unborn evil god inside her torturing her and feeding her visions of hell. In the game Alessa has powerful supernatural abilities which is why she is selected for the ritual, her powers are so potent it is her that is projecting the hell like otherworld inspired by the hellish visions from the evil god and her mother torturing her, the otherworld is Alessas nightmare.
Please do Silent Hill: Revelation! I know its got some pretty low scores but just the world of Silent Hill is so awesome and you explain things so well it would be awesome to see a video on it.
Initially I hated this film for its audacity, but over time I've come to appreciate the reverence and skill used to create and the commitment to capture the essence of the games in a digestible format that a moviegoing audience could appreciate. Sure, the plot may not be brilliant, but as a vehicle to hit all the essential elements of the first 4 games and to tie it in to genuine Western culture, rather than emulated Western culture? It's admirable and way more watchable and rewatchable than the overwhelming majority of game adaptations. I genuinely get the feeling that this was a director desperately trying to give movie audiences the feelings he got from the games and I respect that.
The siren is like the clock bell in P.T. Silent Hills. Hmmmm? The circle prevented them from leaving until they did there task? Sounds like P.T. was taking old parts from S.H.!
Probably one of the more successful game-to-film adaptations. It didn't veer too far from the narrative of the games, but allowed for the development of new story without compromising the heart of the series.
The one thing that annoys me of this movie is how they made the devil the force behind everything instead of the original supernatural force the native Americans of the area respected but that was corrupted through unspeakable violence and cruelty.
I don't know, I think the scenes with the husband added an extra feeling of mystery and hopelessness. Made me wonder "will they be stuck there forever?" the entire movie.

Keep it up.👍🏻👍🏻
Except for the ending, this was a nearly perfect horror movie. I'd say Silent Hill and Resident Evil are the best movies based on games.
I want to see a new Silent Hill movie.
@@ocelot-sensei4384 A Netflix series sounds like a great idea!
@@CrownJewels7 Only place I would trust a show about my favorite game series :)

😅😬
I love this movie and I don't care what haters say.
Me too. Well crafted movie that has just minor flaws in my opinion. Totally worth watching.
What haters ?
First movie that actually scared me in years. Great movie.
GOD I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I promise this isn't just my Rhada Mitchell bias talking. I wonder if Heavy Rain with make a good movie.
Heavy rain gets a movie??? What's the name, good sir?
Rhada Mitchell is Gorgeous
One of my favourite movies.........
I had always assumed that the reason they couldnt leave the dimension is because they had both died
Wow no one can beat this type of content
@That Aussie no
Never knew that Centralia was the inspiration for Silent Hill.
Cool. I watched the film and was completely puzzled. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for being positive about this movie. It managed to do something different and separate itself from the source material, and it's never easy to make a transition from video game to live action movie, and I think I this film was actually better than alot of people give it credit for.
Edit: the sequel was utter trash and I wont defend it at all.
One of my personal fave! Also part 2 features Ned Stark and Jon Snow lol
Completely correct. And Silent Hill (2006) is one of the only game to movie movies that can stand on it's own for being a great horror film.
My guilty pleasure is not watching a couple of your videos, saving them for a boring day at work, then binge watching all the ones I missed lol keep up the good work brother!
Btw, still waiting on that Chimeran Virus for Resistance Fall of Man:D
I swear, whatever game or movie I wonder about, you have probably covered it already. This channel is awesome and I absolutely love your dedication to making informative videos.
Another Film we have been waiting for, great job!
Thanks Kale!
Even though I haven't played the games I agree with him, it feels like the movie really captured the essence of the game. One of the few movies based on game that is worth watching.
Awesome video Niyat!! I love Silent Hill!
Thanks yates!
Agree, the film is a work of art. Very creative and constantly challenging the viewer.
I actually did not know a lot of the creatures were actual costumes, that's amazing.
Whew them fuckin Sirens give me PTSD flashbacks. I saw this when I was 13. Fucked me and sirens up for hella long
One of the best adaptations
This movie is still one of my favorite horror/psychological movies of all time and was actually the first one I ever watched. And when I just looked further into the themes and what the creatures mean.....oh man it just disturbed me more than anything
Hands down best movie/experience/memory... Ever. Seeing it outside the theatre is a shame.
In my eyes, Silent Hill is the BEST video game to movie adaption.
Fantastic explanation well done! I have seen this film many times and always had same questions which you have covered breathlessly. I too hated the death of the police woman, I really liked her character and how she protected Rose. I will now love this film more now I know the meanings behind it now. Thankyou again
This film was fucking amazing and genuinely scary when it came out, I also remember being so disappointed by the sequel.
Hands down on the best Explanation
Lol, looking through the comments, I am so glad to see so many comments discuss the fact that this wasn't intended to be a jump scare tactic, but a real dive into the manifestations of a disturbed and broken mind
I absolutely love how much there is to discover, to talk about, and how this movie isn't skin deep.
Good job on explaining this movie. I understood some of it but not all of it and you enlightened me!
I actually liked this, for the most part. Though, I wish it would have been Sean bean that went after Cheryl, like in the game.
I really did enjoy that they used the music from the games, though!
Thanks for this. I never understood this movie until now. It’s much deeper than I previously thought.
Had me worried, thanks for uploading!
Excellent atmospheric,weird,and very creepy movie!
Niyat is like “fuck more guys, give me good characters”
I've been waiting for you to do a video on Silent Hill.
Awesome video, as always! Love your channel!
Thanks Thalia!
@@filmcomicsexplained Wind is me absolute favourite film of all time lad and have a brilliant day yourself 👍
The first movie silent hill is by far the best adaptation of the horror, supernatural and survival horror game ever I've seen, christophe gans and Roger avary did Amazing job to created the horror survival and especially the special effects too😎👍
Silent Hill is such a psychologically complex work of art.. It is both disturbing and interesting at the same time..
One of the few movies in which Sean Bean did not die.
Hb percy Jackson
Silent Hill, the first psychological horror game that made me fall in love with the genre, i was just 9 when a cousin brought his PS1 and the game on a summer, we played at nights and my gawd those were the days, a shame that the series has come to what it is. May the gods damn Konami to the Otherworld and may Samael torments their souls for all eternity xD
😱😱😱 you made another video😭 yesss!
Your channel has caught my attention for quite some days now, I've got to say that I love it, specially this video, thank you.
Awesome video👌💯
Thanks Farouk :)
